haha there was a childrens programme on CBBC when i was little, so about...15-20 years ago it must have been broadcast. it was in welsh and english, and there was always a bloke with a beard playing the guitar, and i remember it being really boring, but i watched i for the crappy arts and crafts section and the song! good times!
@mrrandomperson31064 жыл бұрын
Wait I don't remember it being in Welsh but it reminds me of an old show called Havakazoo. There was a bearded guy there who sang a song, and I think there was some craft stuff as well.

No, Welsh is not and never has been a variation of Gaelic. There are two branches of the Celtic language family. Goidelic - Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx Brythonic - Welsh, Breton and Cornish. The Angles and Saxons came to Britain and brought their Germanic language with them, which became English.

If by 'Asian' you mean Indian or Pakistani, yes , there are some similarities. For some bizarre reason, these two countries are now referred to as 'South Asian' by PC people, even though they are not in the southern part of Asia!
@Ratchet46475 жыл бұрын
gelli rhondda I don't know about PC people but when I was studying Human Geography the terminology we used for the peoples of the Indian subcontinent was South Asian. South-east Asian from Myanmar to Vietnam, East Asian for China, Japan, and Korea, and central Asian for most of the Stan's. Anyways, best of luck!

@@brentwoodbay Welsh is absolutely nothing like English at all and has as many words as most languages do.
@brentwoodbay2 жыл бұрын
@@enaidsofren4299 I think you misunderstood what I said. I said "Welsh has very few words similar to English" with "mostly newer words" in-between! Actually , there is a connection between English and Welsh as they both belong to separate branches of the Indo European Language family, which has about a dozen branches.
@enaidsofren42992 жыл бұрын
@gelli rhondda Chwaerae teg, apologies for misreading your comment. Every modern European language except Basque is indo European so it's a very distant link, Welsh is Celtic and English is Germanic, so Welsh is closer to Latin and Greek even than English (though still very different of course!).
@brentwoodbay2 жыл бұрын
@@enaidsofren4299 Finnish, Estonian, Hungarian and Turkish are also not Indo European . I have seen some language trees showing the Romance and Celtic languages shown as a sub group, but I dont think this is widely accepted. I 'm not sure about Welsh being closer to Latin though as I have also read that if you could 'suck ' the Latin out of French and Spanish, you would get languages similar to Welsh! Those areas were Celtic before the arrival of the Romans. I normally say that Welsh is closer to French than it is to English.
@Sammie10536 жыл бұрын
As an American, I watched this and assumed they were spoofing the SWEDISH, not the Welsh. Outside of the context of sheep and the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, Wales may not even exist as far as we're concerned.
