Great video, thanks for making! Just one critical thing I need to point out to everyone - DO NOT reuse the original crankshaft bolt and washer. The original design was defective and backs out and/or snaps and has ruined many a Mitsubishi V6. Mitsubishi revised the bolt to part number 1100A141. We sell both the updated bolt and new washer as a kit on our Luso Overland site. Gen3 Crankbolt torque spec: 137 ft/lbs. Also, you're going to need a special tool or homemade one to put on the pulley to keep it from spinning when reinstalling the crankbolt.

Fantastic video. This is the clearest and exacting example that I have seen for this water pump repair. My 6g74 is also leaking form the rear gasket. The engineers who designed this should be shot! I'll be replacing the "O" rings as well in the pipe leading to the back of the motor. Thanks for posting

Thank for the video. Very simply and perfect job! I have the same truck but my problem is with the heat. I have replaced everything to support the heat from increasing except the water pump... It seems like a job for the professionals to do but but otherwise is there any other reason for the heat to increase?

Amazing video! I have to do this exact job, I can't believe you don't have to pull the compressor and steering pump! Quick question, my belt is new and the water pump is defective, Can you release the timing belt tension without having any special tools? So after I mark the belt and gears and clamp the cams I can just slide it back on?

Great video. I have the same vehicle. Did the Aisin water pump come with an O-ring for the bypass pipe that goes on the back of the water pump? I had my mechanic change timing belt / water pump last year with Napa parts and couple months afterwards started leaking at the water pump / bypass pipe connection. My mechanic doesnt want to touch the Montero anymore.

As I'm undertaking a water pump and timing belt change on my 2006 Mitsubishi Montero Limited, this video couldn't have came in clutch at a more convenient timing. How would you go about taking the 4 nuts that holds on the fan clutch? I find they are very soft and I do not want to round the edges off (even using crow foot wrenches) to the point I need to cut them off

This video is awesome and clear. I had to do this job 2 times for 2 different very annoying reasons that perhaps most people wont encounter. Reason #1 was my fault because I bought a cheaper none OEM tensioner. Luso overland sells the proper tensioner. Buy from them or any other OEM supplier. #2 was an odd Mitsubishi defect that happens sometimes where the tensioner bolts were set too deep and pierce into the oil gallery. You're only clue to this might be that see gasket sealer on the bolts. I used copper washers to seal the tensioner bolts like a banjo bolt on your brakes. Worked great. Hope this helps out people in those odd situation. Seriously do not buy a non e OEM tenioner. You will be sorry.

I wish Japanese car makers could go back to the true essence and simplicity of engines to where owners can fix their cars themselves like this. Technology is great but when it goes so far to where you can’t even fit your hands to replace parts on your own without having to take it in to a car dealership ruins the experience of accomplishment. We need to go back into time to where customers can save money and Do it themselves.
