The all-new fourth-generation Mitsubishi Outlander is being billed as a gamechanger for the Japanese brand in Australia.
Better quality, more equipment, a new technical base and a bold new look add up to a huge transformation for a nameplate that has long been one of the most popular in the booming mid-size SUV segment.
There are five Outlander model grades, all of them now underpinned by the same CMF-D platform and powered by the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine as other Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance models such as the Nissan X-TRAIL.
Most Outlanders offers seven seats as standard and there is a choice of front- and all-wheel drive.
Taking all this into account, it’s no surprise pricing is also up a minimum of $200, topping out just under $50,000 for the new Exceed Tourer tested here.
By the way, if you’re wondering about the Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid), that will launch early in 2022.

The reviewer got it wrong with his comment that the “ 12 inch digital display looks old school analog” He obviously wasn’t aware that the dash display has 3 modes, one of them is a full digital display.

Great new generation Outlander I've test driven an Exceed and loved it Great contemporary design, inside and out. Drive was compliant and comfortable and I was happily surprised to find that it was spritely, responsive and agile for a medium SUV, I didn't find any issues with the suspension or tyres. The multimedia system and driver cluster display are brilliant and of a high resolution, plus the Bose speakers have good bass and crisp clarity. I'm a reasonable man, and I could'nt fault the Outlander, Mitsubishi's known reliability, safety and efficiency is now presented in a modern premium feeling SUV, it's great for couples and families at a competitive price point. I'm not interested in overrated and overpriced and very vanilla RAV4's, Toyota is not set on my default setting, as for the Mazda what-ever-it-is, too generic across the range, too soft, too feminine and too expensive. The Mitsubishi is unique and honest with an industry leading warranty which shows Mitsubishi's confidence in its product. Outlander is certainly on my shopping list, just wondering if I should wait for the all new Outlander PHEV, afterall it is Europe's most popular and highest selling PHEV.

Another feature the outlander has and no one seems to mention is,if you open tailgate then pull it down to a height that suits you,mainly short people you can press and hold the close button until you hear a beep.then when the tailgate opens in the future it will open to the height that was set to.good for short people like my wife.

Outlander LS is my pick for value for money. Literally every reviewer is complaining about harshness if 20 inch wheels, LS drives on 18s 😃

I totally agree with your thoughts, and a space saver spare tyre for a offroad car 80km speed limited or could be all over red rover off road if the terrain does allow the space saver to grip and question where will i store the deflated full spare if the suv is loaded up for camping? if you get a puncture and theres no reception in the bush, i dont think the alliance is aligning its brainstrust in this . And ride share divers dont even think about it, its not a proper 7 seater for 7 adults. This Suv is destined for the rental car market, a proper 7 seater Suvs are outthere with a full sized spare and a engine that will handle 7 adults

Dreaming too far Mr. Nair. They squandered the opportunity big time. And now, they are already on the verge of close down. Wrong strategies, lazy marketing and lack of dynamic initiative. And i believe, they are in a bad shape on the global front as well.

Join the Renault Nissan alliance that's the end of Mitsubishi as we know it just like Nissan as a result of Renault influence Nissan no longer the durable reliable car it once was

I agree well said just sold our Eclipse Cross will not buy Mitsubishi again.
