I received one of these for free. It came with everything; the remote, battery, manuals, shoulder strap and a compatible video camera. I want to fix it and need to start with the cassette door not shutting. Thanks for sharing the internals of this machine. I'm kinda hoping my unit just works after I fix the door not closing because the internals look very intimidating haha

I'm glad I found this video because I bought one of these for 8 dollars a few days ago and the belt for the loading motor is just...completely melted, and I genuinely don't know how to get to it.

When you said you might cut the plastic I thought you meant a neat cut with a dremel not with pliers lmao. Great video!
@probnotstech3 жыл бұрын
I thought about a dremel, but I was worried I'd cut too deep and get plastic bits all over the inside.

I was given a similar portable VCR back in the 90's. Not Mitsubishi but made by Sharp (VC-2300).

30:00 'Dew indicator' means it's detected some dampness or needs to adjust to room temperature before use

The one on mine was completely goo. I managed to pry up the assembly to get room for the belt. Plays really good now though.

Thanks for sharing your video. I am glad to see that you have managed to repair this vhs recorder. I like its design. It’s retro.

Neat little machine. The loading belt is a SCB7.0 (original part number: 521D03801).

Good to know, thanks! I'm actually amazed how well this rubber band is working for now. At least the belt replacement will be easier now.
@crashbandicoot4everr3 жыл бұрын
@@probnotstech I learned not to use rubber bands the hard way when my portable Betamax machine got jammed because I used rubber bands in place of the tape counter belts.
@probnotstech3 жыл бұрын
They definitely won't last, but I've had success using them in a pinch. Just gotta remember to change them out when the correct belt arrives.

I liked LP because you can record longer without loosing picture quality
@kevinh963 жыл бұрын
You always lose quality in LP mode on any VCR.
@probnotstech3 жыл бұрын
LP seems very inconsistent with quality. It has less noise than EP due to the track buffer, but quality depends on the video head width. JVCs with a narrower EP head will have much worse LP quality than an older Panasonic with 25-32u heads.

I remember a Sanyo portlable beta hifi machine but never saw MIts portable.

I have a device like this. I also cut the plastic to reach the transmission and indeed the operation succeeded... but I need a head because what I have needs to be changed. because it is damaged

I'm pretty sure at least one person back in the day tried to plug an AC cord into those antenna pins lol.

two things , your rubber belt is a bit too stretchy for the loading mech to tighten the tape guides in position second your mentioned muffled audio and odd startup behavior is indicator of bad capacitors

How much is it worth?
@probnotstech2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, but I doubt all that much. It's got the cool factor (to me anyway), but as far as a VCR it's far from the best you can find.

@@probnotstech I think you are right, image quality is not all that great and mono sound. Smaiil (semi) professional players or recorders with hifi sound made by Panasonic are of excellent quality and can be sold for more than 100 bucks, This Mitsubishi on a guess 10-to 20
