One of the best tutorials I've seen, I do a lot of guitar with my orchestral samples and this has given me a lot to think about especially the delay. Great explanation at each step! I'd love to see more of these.

Awesome tutorial! I have one question though. Since the Lexicon already has that pre-delay of 21ms, whats the benefit of adding the extra pre-delay with your final step? Is it just to get a bit more separation from the long tail reverb without having to effect the rest of the mix using that lexicon? Basically getting an extra amount of separation between the solo violin and orchestra while not changing the main send?

One quick, and I think - priceless question to all of us - virtual libraries composers/orchestrators : When you open any instance of Cinesamples library on an instrument track in Pro-Tools (that's how I compose) , be it brass, be it woodwinds, or percussion, there's already certain amount of reverb as default. I love Dennis Sands Full Mix, that's how I compose every section - with THAT setting. That's how the virtual instruments sound best for full orchestra sound palette IMHO. It's a very small amount of reverb-rather a nice natural ambience of the Sony Pictures Studios. Now, when you render Instrument Tracks into Audio Tracks, do you still keep that Dennis Sands full Mix, and you add your reverb ON TOP OF that Mix ? Or you render all instruments completely dry and than you add your reverb ? I'm just curious. I want to prevent from adding reverb on top of another reverb, already coming from Dennis Sands mix.
