I was on 4 mg of Suboxone and .5 of Klonopin. Being newly sober was the most anxiety-ridden, insomniac that couldn't eat and once they gave me the .5 of Klonopin I slowly got back to the old Kelly. I ended up tapering off of it and the subs. Life is good and I'm so very grateful my doctors worked with me!

Sadly I’ve found doctors who refuse to prescribe diazepam no matter what the patient’s history with anxiety is. There most definitely is a stigma. Thx Dr. B.

I was on 3mg of Klonopin, 600mg Neurontin for ten years with 16mg of Suboxone. I never had any problems with side effects but I did hit a huge depression. I stopped caring about my family, health and financial situation. I bit the bullet and went to detox. They put me on a Librium taper for 4 days with Seroquel. My local hospital would only do 4 days, so after the first detox I went to another detox for 14 days. The PAWS symptoms from ten years of Klonopin has all my senses out of control. It's really hard to describe, smells have noises, sounds have taste, sights trigger pain. My sleep cycle is slowly getting back to normal.

I’ve been on Suboxone for 5 years this year, benzos was never something I regularly took, but my mother had a prescription for Xanax, and she would give them to me when I would have a panic attack, or manic episode. I have CRIPPLING ANXIETY, it’s so bad that it literally stops me from living sometimes, my doctor will not even consider it, they’ll kick you out if you fail for them, it just really sucks because I feel a low dose diazepam is the ONLY thing that has ever made me feel like I can breathe. This was so informative and amazing as usual🖤

Yes as soon as you say any Benzo’s or the word Xanax they will straight cut you off and assume you are a low life junkie. I work in the medical field. Have also struggled with addiction myself and am on Buprenorphine…. I have severe anxiety too. As soon as the Dr sees that I am taking/prescribed Buprenorphine, I’m treated differently. They want to know “how it started”. And prescribe me something for depression when I am straight up telling them that I have severe anxiety and full blown panic attacks. It’s crazy. And so sad that we can’t get the help we need. I just want to be able to be completely honest and not be judged. I want to be helped. I want to be heard. I’m not just an addict. Thank you for understanding and shining some light on this.

Awesome Topic Dr. B.! I’m tapering off of Subutex. Occasionally I take a 1 mg. Klonopin every now and then for sleep. I’ve been prescribed it for years but I rarely take it for fear of becoming dependent on it. My doctor doesn’t see any harm in prescribing it. I think it could be very addictive to some people though. I think all doctors should be very careful about prescribing benzodiazepines because of the side affects and potential of dependency and addiction. Great Video!! Take good care and stay safe!💘

Another thing that happens is when the patient takes the prescriptions to the pharmacy a lot of times the pharmacist will not fill a benzo and a mat drug

Ive been on 6mg klonopin a day for 12yrs for seizure disorder and 16mg subutex for 5yrs(was 24mg) for chronic pain.Most educated doctors know this combination isnt a danger to certain individuals with my history and the fact that im 41yrs old 6foot 4in and 300lbs.

I wish I never started anything. It seems doctors are now refusing Sub & Clonz together even at low doses. For 7 years it was fine. Now that my doctor retired nobody is willing to help. I living and born in UK had to get to grips quickly at the beginning of my interest in pharmaceuticals and pharmacology with the situation in USA regarding prescribing by Brand names because in the UK we always write a prescription out as generic name ( maybe cos it's cheaper, but it's definitely easier to understand for patients as we don't need to understand and remember all the various brands when they are all the same active ingredient. Why is this i wondered? I'm aware of one thing, people put more trust in well known brands as opposed to generic equivelants. I take Buprenorphine but get it in a different generic version which actually is now called Prefibin so I guess it's not generic but just a cheaper brand than subutex. Obviously the patent must have ran out for this to be the case. Just wondered what you had to say about it? cos I would defo learn things more from you. thanks

Doing a slow taper off Valium..only 2mg per day along with 90mg Methadone. I definitely have always taken it seriously how it can be dangerous. It does work great though for the severe anxiety I have.

I have been on both but in both states I have lived in, you can now "only get one" is the thinking of all doctors with few exceptions I'm not sure of but am sure they exist. Thanks

I am watching this again because I was cooking a meal at the same time lol I can’t agree more with a lot of what you are saying. May I ask you a question if you or any one just happens to see this? My question is what is the best type of therapy (that you have seen much/or the most success) for someone who has been SERVERELY abused by the one person they trusted? Also for someone who now questions everything and everyone and has servere trust issues with everyone including their self… meaning I have very low self worth now I feel. I need to know my worth again if that makes sence. CPTsd/anxiety/a bit of a hoarder because of my childhood neglect I’m realizing and lots of OCD lol. I know CBT has helped me in the past along with Librium but that was 13 years ago and now these docs are telling me I cannot get a script for that. It’s all very confusing to me. I cannot continue to be my own doctor. I just want to be directed to someone that can help. I’m on Xxanx and 12mg Suboxone daily and I am doing well. I can work, stay active. I’ve gotten my drivers license back and my kid back. I’m on 3mg Xxanx daily and no I do not get any type of high. I’ve been on Xxanx since I was 21 and I’m 39. It makes me feel stable and normal. I’ve got PTSD, GAD, SAD and Panic Disorder.

Thanks for ur information. I have a family member that has had a on and off issues with drugs. They have been taking suboxone 2 strips a day for over a year and doing great but recently was prescribed.5mg ativan 3 times a day as needed for anxiety and we were all quick to say NO your lying again because those meds interact bad and wouldn’t be subscribed together and thought they were slipping back into bad habits looken to get high. That family member said it was prescribed by his Dr and ok to take together In small doses like .5mg ativan 3 times a day as needed. Glad to hear they are still on the right track.

Xanax I’ve taken 8 I’m prescribed them I’m on 4mg a day I do fine I don’t feel the shit at all I tried diazepam clonazepam switching to suboxone and issuing those too and I tried Librium I’ve never felt “pleasurable” ya know? I KEEP GETTING TURNED AWAY BECAUSE I CAN NOT PEE! CAN YOU DO A BLOOD TEST? I was on methadone and clonazapam at high doses and cut off cold turkey 6 years ago. It's taken that long to get on suboxone and I have to use a phone app doctor. I came off 6mg clonazapam and haven't been the same. I recently finally went to a specialist for it and he's making me taper. The taper is completely breaking me I'd rather come off suboxone and stay on a benzo but they won't let me and call me a doctor shopper. I was overprescibed for years and they must have marked me.

LOL too bad not a single doctor i ever met thinks like this. There is very little to no help like this available in New Jersey. Its either heres your script... now get out. I’ve been on Xanax and morphine for twenty years I’m not a addict I just have a major anxiety problem and have had two major back surgeries and when it comes to pain meds I get major agitation from pain meds and Xanax helps with the anxiety I take meds as prescribed with these new guidelines it’s getting very hard to get the two I’m in pain management he won’t prescribe it but he lets me going to a family doctor for my Xanax.I can understand that people abuse these drugs but I don’t get any type of high from the two people can always go drink alcohol on these meds but there’s no stigma behind it alcohol works on the same part of the brain

Hi Dr. B, I commented on this video 11 months ago. You may be able to see it below. Although I’ve been on Valium for over 5 years (5mg, 30 pills/month), my GP is now balking at renewing prescriptions because my name is on a list from the state of Georgia. That’s because I’m also on buprenorphine and have been for 18 months. My dose is a steady 1.5mg/day taken .5 t.I.d. sublingual. My question to you is, in your opinion, do you consider my bupe dose a low dose and would you have an issue subscribing Valium given my long term history with it? I'm here in tucson arizona. And it is so hard to find and talk to a doctor about wanting to get on any type of benzo..they will ask you what it is you want, and as soon as you say clonazapam they cut you off and just start treating you like dirt. They dont even hear you out, just like what you are saying, building a trust, being under close examination with your doctor. They wont listen to you at all. I've tried over 5 doctors and they all say the same thing, SORRY anything else or are we done here? It makes me feel low.

I have been on MAT for 3 years and have terrible anxiety as he described. Every once in a while if it’s an anxiety attack I simply cannot manage, I take a HALF of a 0.25 alprazolam. I do not feel any euphoria and I do not feel the desire to take it outside of an anxiety attack. It has been working very well for me without any issue.

Because of real time monitoring, doctors are cancelling patients on Suboxone & diazepam . The knowledge about benzo cold turkey is almost non -existent in Australia. They is 1 great ngo in one state in Australia. I think because of work such as yours there might be tiny incremental improvements happening.

So if someone is on 0.50 mg of suboxone and takes 0.25 mg of Xanax six hours later what would be the worst that could happen to a patient if any. I have been tapering off my subs is 0.50 good enough to jump off and how bad will the “withdrawal or sick feeling last”? Thank you for your help

I have to disagree. I don't think the drug is addictive in itself. I do, however, think the activity of smoking weed is addictive. I have never felt any sort of weed withdrawal. That's just me though.

It really stinks having agoraphobia. I've been on Suboxone for years. But no doctor will provide even a PRN benzo. But then my friends will have Xanax scripts for "anxiety." Gimme a break.

This is interesting because most doctors I’ve seen want to quickly push you back under the fastest taper of any substance you might be using which inevitably leads me back to Black market Street drugs. With fentanyl being in everything except Dr.s prescriptions it’s a little hard to say that your Dr. is helping you with a speedy taper or a cold turkey. That will kill people that were seeking real help.

I was prescribed both, I would take my suboxone then 4 to 8 hours later my xanax and 3 to 4 hours later my sib and repeat until sleep. 2 of each a day then. I take Klonopin now. Methadone and benzos. Hell no! I had friends die that way. I had my sub doc and my xanax doc.
