MK4 1.8T with GTX3071 Gen 2 with Water/Meth on the Dyno

We see what kind of power we can get out of a GTX3071 Gen2 on this MK4 1.8t. We also do a bit of a comparison between the Precision 6262 power band VS the GTX3071 Gen 2. The key to this is we're only running 91oct with an AEM Water/Meth setup. Our fuel is junk here so we're limited in what we can get away with even with the W/M. With better fuel or multiple nozzles we could easily see pushing it further, but we reached our goals.

We've made 700whp on this same 6262 on a 1.8t. However different fuel, different cams and a bunch more boost. It just wasn't the right turbo for this specific car. This is way more suited for it's intended use.

Nice work! That 3071 really spools. Almost 100whp/ trq in the midrange is going to be super noticeable especially for street duty. It will totally feel like a whole different car. It sounds damn good too. Love the popping on decel. Seems to rev for days as well. 👍

Much appreciated. Pretty much all upgrades are in the description. So yes stock cams, stock intake manifold, stock throttle body... just valve springs and exhaust valves in the head.

OK you guys absolutely nailed it with the way you formatted this video(IMO). With the intro giving a quick description what the big components to the motor are, narrating your changes with the boost/timing/etc. throughout, Clayton flashing to the Dyno screen periodically👍, & then the recap at the finish, comparing graphs. Absolute home run(again IMO). Not to mention this car is absolutely immaculate, super clean! How this video could have 1400+ views and not have equal amount of likes...🤨🤔. Few quick questions: 1) what in your opinion can this specific build handle for boost and what would be the potential failure? Head gasket? 2) how are you peddling the car, roll-on or is it mashed to the floor and you’re seeing how it actually builds up boost/rpm? 3) What media are you using for the oil return on the turbo? I’m trying to keep mine flexible somewhat and pass thru my FullRace exhaust manifold rather than using a hard line and trying to mate it to the oil pan. I know there’s several different ways, just curious. One last thing, any LSD in the gearbox or special done? thanks and again absolutely spot on with this!

For the fuel, I think that's good power. For reference I made 483 AWHP at 29psi on the same turbo running 93 with e20 on my MK6R.

Yeah the 2.0t has more displacement behind it, and a better flowing head. So completely makes sense.

Totally, I think that’s a great number for a 1.8t, plus I have big valves, and e20 makes a huge difference for timing capabilities. I’ve seen a lot of Japanese cars make high 300’s in that turbo, so again, that’s a great number.

What can i expect out of a efr7163 twinscroll t4 on a 1.8t on 10/11psi boost? Is it similair to this gtx3071? Around 240/250whp? Im from europe, i think the gas here is like the same as 93 or somthing on youre place, they give it other numbers i gues

It's cause it's on dyno without a seatbelt and the ABS geeks out while on there.

I’m going to be doing exhaust valves on my AEB head soon. I saw you mentioned you lapped them. Is this needed anytime you install new valves?

Yes. Lapping valves is basically getting the valve to marry the seat so it seals really well.

Depends on fuel. But yes 500whp us possible. I made 500whp at 29psi on my 16v on the gen1.

I love this car! I wish I could make it mine! Hahhaa I have a 03 jetta wolfsburg but with a O2M transmission. I'm looking to maybe get a new tune or at least be able to dial it in a bit and turn off my key IMMO and turn off all my PCV system as it's been all deleted because it was rotted. I have a maestro 7 cable would I be able to do it from there? I've been trying to learn on maestro but very little forums I've found hahaha haven't searched it recently tho

It is critical to size a turbo correctly to your engine and transmission, I went from GTX 3076 to a G30-900 AR64 it makes more power but now I am slower since I am out of boost every gear ) =

Most definitely, which is why I never answer the question "what turbo should I get" on the internet. It all comes down to what the car is being used for, HP goals, and long term goals. Your options now are smaller turbine housing (if there is a smaller one then you have), more RPM so it doesn't matter, or more compression.

The manifold and turbine housing will determine what the downpipe needs to be. Each turbo manifold put the turbo in a different location.

If you want to have control this is one of the few solutions to do so before standalone. If you're building more of a track car or want endless functionality go standalone up front. Likely save you as bunch of money and time in the end.

Any idea of the power limit of the 09a tiptronic transmission? I use Eurodyne Maestro. Recently got a Mk4 GTI with the 1.8t with automatic 09a. Stage 2 flash with 3” turbo back. Local VW guys say the trans will blow up soon... oh well if true because it is fun!!! No boost lag with the automatic.

So I’m running a precision 6262 with the 39mm wastegate and same exact set up this car had before I put new springs in there that came out to 21 psi and had all the lines ran correctly to a boost controller and still did not get boost would you think it’s a wastegate problem or a turbo problem? Help would be much appreciated

@@Zach.T Boost control problem. With 21psi on gate.. you should be able to see 40-60psi with an EBC if you wanted.

If you have 21psi springs in the gate and you have the gate plumbed directly to the source and you're not seeing any boost you have other problems. Major boost leak or turbo no spinny.

The possibul the compresseur is the compresseur the g60 + One big turbo is the big boss thé circuit puisque avec le compresseur pas besoins de faire monter la voiture dans les tours le compresseur sans charge et ensuite le turbo prendra le relait mais il te faut un compresseur plus balaise que celui de la g60 celui d un 6 cylindres bmw ca donneràis une bombes si seulement tu te décider à les passer en 4 roue motrice comme the golf boba is 4x4 yes direct accŕoch the bitume et bye bye amigo

Precision are essentially well engineered chinachargers. Absolute GARBAGE on a street car. Garrett will last 200k. You’re lucky to get 20k from a precision. Built dozens of 1.8ts, and I wouldn’t install a precision on my enemy’s car.
