this may sound stupid but i've never understood this. after some of the swinging strikes why do they still run/walk to first just to get out? why not just call it out if the ball isn't in play

because there is a rule where if you get striked out and the catcher drops it you can run to first

Because if the pitcher drops it, you can run to first, and their is a possibility the catcher overthrows or the basemen drops it.

We get it. You’re a Cardinals fan. Just because you’re salty that you live in the shittiest and most dangerous city in America and your team will never be as nationally beloved as the Cubs doesn’t mean you have to waste your precious time nitpicking examples of other teams pitching against them. Also, it says a lot that you couldn’t find examples of nasty pitches against the cubs by cardinals pitchers.
