[MMD] My Model Model Making Workflow | 100+ Watchers Special

An overview of the general steps I take in creating a model in PMX editor for MikuMiku Dance (MMD). This is not a tutorial, but rather a way of showing how I approach bringing characters to life through modeling in MMD. Everyone has their own character creation process, but this is the model making workflow I tend to follow based on my intuition and future convenience. If you do something different, why not make a video to show others?

I tried to give as much information and as many tips/principles to follow as I could, without bogging people down, but if there's any confusion or questions, write them in the comments and I'll try to answer! Beyond that, if people want a video on a specific thing I mentioned, you can also suggest it. Also, I didn’t say this in the video, but I did separate folders for the base and the outfit. I do specific folders for each outfit to keep things more organized.

this is interesting. i make my models in vroid studio then convert them for mmd, so i've never really learned how to make an mmd model from parts. your characters look cute!

Thank you! And yeah, Vroid is easier to use than PMXEditor. However, many of the skills I learned through MMD, I was able to apply to my first model!

That's why I really wanted to make videos at the time. I wanted to have a range of skin tones and was planning on making more, but life and computer dumbness happened. 😅

Aww, thank you Red. I think it's partially that some technical difficulties and a lack of love for what I was doing pushed me out of the community for a bit. I'll return again in the future, most likely, but for now I'm pursuing other things. Thank you so much for the lovely words, tho! They mean a lot! If I do return, I'll keep yours and everyone else's lovely words in mind!

Wow I love your MMD character I wish I can make one but I need help because I have this MMD glitch called “White Glitch” every time I add my hair or clothes and it’s just white and I can’t load the texture either when I try they just disappear in the box :(

Did you solve your problem or no? If not, It's just a matter of redirecting the file path to the correct texture.

I am struggling so much, Trying to weigh the body and connected the head to the neck or even if it is just putting on the outfit the skirt glitch appears. I do not know how you do it, but you do an amazing job.

Sorry, I haven't touched MMD in years (and it may be better to hop onto the MME effects discord for some help if they're still active), but if I remember correctly, you're probably having trouble with physics colliding (for skirts, hairs, etc.) and selecting _everything_ connected to the head. Make sure you're double-checking that you've selected all vertices, physics, material, etc. that are related to an object before you move anything. Sometimes, it's better to load in the object all over again (as sucky as that is) to see where all of those things are added in your menu.
