Yeah I didn't get support or anything in school and when I started high school at 15 my father left for the 2nd time in my life so I was depressed angry and didn't really care about grades all that much. I quit the football team because I was using it as an excuse to not be home with my father and I took up piano and golf for a slower pace in my life. I was basically depressed and I wore the same jacket every single day to school, I wore it until it had multiple holes in it and was literally becoming unraveled. During my senior year I was pulled into the counselors office and told if I failed a single class the rest of the school year I was not going to graduate. I had nobody to help me emotionally at all so I basically reverted back to my sadistic ways to make it through the year. I went from a 2.0 GPA to a 3.83 GPA and made it everyone's problem along the way. I was watching the animaniacs in math class and blasting music in English class and in piano I decided to flex on everything by leaning Beethoven. Art class was just art class though I was among the top 3 in a class of idiots and a pregnant girl. My art teacher didn't even look at my work when COVID started because he trusted me enough that he believed I did it and gave me an A automatically. I basically went wild and as soon as I graduated I stayed inside for a year gained 30 pounds and my life was put on hold as soon as I decided to live it up again. As of recently my cat is on the verge of dying my mother got COVID for 3 weeks and I had to take care of her and go to work ever single day and somehow find a way to balance all that with a social life. I basically broke down crying at the vet it took everything I had to hold back tears and when I got home I let my cat out she then proceeded to knock down a newly opened bag of cat food and dove in head first for a foot 5 minutes and I didn't have the heart to stop her I literally walked into the kitchen put on sad music and did the dishes while crying. All this and I'm only 20 I can't even drink the pain away.

Same. I pushed my middle bro down a giant grass hill on a tricycle when he was two. He fell on the only rock there at the bottom and broke his collarbone (i was 5). I also bashed his head on the edge of a pool once and he had a small piece of eyebrow floating around because he threw goggles at me and they scratched my eye. He gave me gashes, bruises, and was more emotionally abusive than anything well into adulthood. He was also the favorite. Kids do some fucked up shit to each other, especially siblings. This is exactly why my son will remain an only child haha.

My family had a cat who had kittens 6 of them. After a few days, she took the two runts of the litter out of their home and into a cupboard. Presumably because she could not handle dealing with 6 entire needy furballs on her first try at this and would rather hope we never find them. She wanted to focus her attention on her 4 favourites When we noticed we gave her her kittens back and over time the runt of the litter became by far the biggest of them all and also the kindest and her favourite that hogged all the milk from the others grew up to be the smallest

There are several. KZfaqr shadetree surgeon down in florida regularly does things a charity called forgotten angels that is basically the foster family from shazam with motorcycles, once they age out the system. Quite literally, they take in kids that have just aged out of the foster system, teach them to build their own small home on a plot of land, teach them how to get and keep jobs, teach them how to ride and work on motorcycles(if they desire), and generally all the things a normal mom or dad would teach them had they been lucky enough to have them. Its an amazing charity, and I wish it the best of luck.

So by the sounds of it, I'd bet the womb-colosseum thing doesn't apply to bonnetheads. Let me explain. In case you've never heard of them, bonnetheads are fun-sized hammerhead sharks which treat crab-filled patches of seaweed as their own personal salad bar. They'll take a mouthful of weeds and hopefully some crabs along with it, and after doing this for enough generations, they actually picked up the ability not to waste the weeds they gulp down hoping a crab was in it, and are the only sharks that can actually digest seaweed. Which scientists proved by marking certain atoms in seaweed to see if they ended up as part of the sharks' bodies, which as it turned out, they did. What makes me suspect they may not do the sibling-rivalry-turned hunger games thing is that when I was reading more about them, I came across an article in which scientists were concerned about the genetic diversity of the bonnethead populations. As it turned out, the females seemed to each only be reproducing with one male, rather than having multiple mates. Which means that it actually has happened that some marine biologists looked at a bunch of sharks and went, "Uh-oh, these hoes are loyal!"

note, most of this is only true of *spotted* hyenas. the other 3 hyena species have very different life styles. while the spotted hyena is top predator that hunts most of their food and live in large clans, striped and brown hyenas are much lower tier on the food chain. more like jackals. in fact, the main reason we used to believe spotted hyenas were scavengers is because we knew about brown hyenas much longer, and they do tend to eat dead things. then you have the aardwolf which took 1 look at lions and said "you know what? maybe the Timon and Pumba diet isn't a bad idea"

My cat disregarded her own babies right after they born. She somehow put them in her litter. We had no idea why and looked to the babies. We found out that they were disabled... i personally spent 2 days without ANY sleep to keep them alive taking care of them while my cat was nowhere to be seen and also refused to breastfeed them. Well... the babies didn't make it, they were weak overall. I was shocked to see how she disregarded and never cared for them because she was actually a very caring mother. She would breastfeed their cups to the starvation, NEVER EVER let them leave her sight. When i take one of the babies she will be following me to death and never lose eye contact with her baby. So .... i totally agree when u say that there is no unconditional love in nature.

Fun fact about nose botflies: in Autumns when they are most desperate to lay their larvae, they can mistake other animals for moose, and if they come across humans, they are known to spray the larvae in human's eyes, where they often need to be removed surgically.
