Mo Gawdat discusses control using different methods varying from a scientific mathematical approach to ancient philosophy to debunking the myths surrounding our concept of control. He clarifies the downsides of our constant attempts to achieve such an elusive target and lays forth simple rules to help us progress further in life and work through calculated prioritization, attention allocation, and committed acceptance. His goal is that you will find comfort in understanding the truth about the nature of control, and a weight will be lifted, leaving you with the tools needed to achieve success without the stress resulting from futile attempts to stay in control.
Control is a pervasive modern day illusion. It leads to work related stress and often blurs our judgment and leads to wrong decisions among professionals in today's work environment and goes home with us to cause suffering and unhappiness. Mo is a former control freak who learned the hard way the truth about control. Those concepts not only helped Mo advance his career to reach the highest levels of success as the Chief Business Officer of Google [X]. They also helped him survive the loss of his wonderful son, turning his loss into a global mission to make millions of people happy.
This event is in collaboration with the Happiness Festival, a series of talks and workshops about how we can integrate happiness into our future economic systems, societies and everyday lives. Thank you very much Mohammed Gawdat on the talk about radical acceptance ; taking action and attitude. Choosing how to act from adversity is about changing perspective, and the only expectation is from the individual " the being ", May "Ali " continue to be a blessed memory.

The past does not have to be your prison. You have a voice in your destiny. You have a say in your life. You have a choice in the path you take.

One more thing, about control freaks and unhappiness, I would quote a verse from the Bible of Luke 10/40-42: "But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him (Jesus) and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”. “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed-or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Self control requires many things . Controlled by others requires nothing .

The concept of anti fragile is we get better when bad things happen, not just cope and be resilient to them. It sounds like Mo is starting with resilient and moving towards anti fragile.

Imagine a world where 1/7 people practice the ideas explore here. I think we would have more peace and less self-inflicted suffering as a species.

Yes, I agree, but the point is, that you have control over your actions but you cannot control if your actions will be performed or not. Like while writing this comment, I want to write this, but I might not be able to complete it, as I might die suddenly at this moment, or Internet might go off at this moment, or there might be an Earthquake or a Bomb explosion here and I am unable to complete this comment. These stuff are not in our control, and that is how this idea goes. "You have full control of what you wish to do, but you have no control over whether you will able to do it or not."

You're a collection of atoms behaving in a complex and autonomous way. There really is no "you" controlling reality like: lifting your arm, thinking, saying something. That's the beautiful illusion.
