This worked for me. You have to ignore the green and just set the balance as shown. It does turn back to gray. Thanks!

110% correct! Great video for anyone who runs into this issue. Only found your vid after I was troubleshooting this all day yesterday. Finally got Sony Support (via chat) to confirm problem exists (and they recreated as well with their own testing). Sony ticket 07074330. Happens at different ISO levels depending on the picture profile your using. Happens less on PP7 from what I’ve tested. And ISO values vary based on use of White Card vs Grey Card for setting custom W/B. Thanks for putting this vid out there as I know others will eventually run into this. Sony did say they’ll forward the ticket but couldn’t confirm if it will be a bug fix in future firmware releases for the Sony a7 iii. 👍👍

Awesome glad this helped. It use to annoy me big te til I found out the issue. I just so happened to adjust the focus and exposure and found it was linked to the green cast

@@VidHeadz almost like a miracle honestly... i was looking up how to white balance before i tried it during a shoot... thought i had it all figured out.. saw in the corner your video was recommended about the green fix.. i was like man that sucks someone has to deal with that and i paid it no mind... got in there was trying to get the white balance right and kept turning green. i was like i just saw something about green video maybe thats what it was..... did a search after the shoot... boom its your video and exactly what i needed. thanks again man. everything you do is for a reason! even if it helps one person its worth it!

@@4ksightandsound Since you have the A7SIII, I have a vid for a good good Custom Picture Profile that is Contrasty popping colors. I use this on a show that I'm shooting for quick turnaround edits and I have little to no color edit. It is not really a Cinematic profile but can be if you bring the contrast down some with the black level, but it is for more of a reality look like shows and things like that. I have since tweaked it a little bit (the only adjustment that is different from the vid is I have raised Black level from -15 to -10) -15 is more contrast and -10 is less - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5xlbNuh28zUn6c.html

The first is the "Wind Noise Reduction", which I don't need to turn on since I use external mics, and the solid box in the upper right hand corner is the type of metering mode I'm currently using. Excellent video! Thanks so much for this help :) Any idea why I cant custom white balance on custom modes 1-2-3 in camera? Seems to only allow film mode, manual modes, or S&Q not custom modes. Is the work around to just copy the settings manually from Film mode white balance to K custom mode (manually input color temp?)

I'm not sure, I only shot on Manual when I had the A7SIII. I have since upgraded to the A7SIII so I can't test it out.

congratulations for the channel! lately when I film with my sony a7s3 setting all the parameters correctly my screen turns green and it happens that the videos are recorded in green! strange! this also depends on the WB in this case? so setting the WB to 1 this problem will no longer exist?

Understandable, and thank you for your kind words. This vid was catered to the A7III. With the A7SIII I did not have this problem. However I did make video with high contrast and popping colors Picture Profile if you have not seen that one yet. Thank you for being a part of the community.

I can't tell you how many times I looked for why my WB was just setting it green, can't believe I didn't notice the exposure was off. Does it do this no matter if the exposure is off? Or does it only happen if you're extremely underexposed

The gray side is for exposure the white side is for white balance.

My normally flow is to white balance with the grey side. Works well for me.

I'm sorry you guys are still having problems. The just of it is that the exposure is the key. If your camera is not exposed properly or more specifically under exposed for the the scene then the custom white balance is going to come back green. It is not about Picture Profiles but about the amount of light that is coming into your camera. Try opening the aperture more or raising the iso when custom white balancing and this should fix your problem.
