I use a mobility scooter and I am able to do my own maintenanc. I trained as an electro/mechanical engineer. However, you always need some guidance. I have contacted Tom on a couple of occasions and he has always been most helpful. Hes a genuine guy.

Many thanks for your video. it may help me in the future. I do have a Pride GoGo Scooter that after 20 years i hope will only need a new battery but anyway, it would not help me to reach the supermarket. I was searching for videos on how to increase the speed and range of this mobility scooter. And when I say the speed I mean at least to 10 m/h for myself or any senior and not the speed of light as some young men are already exploring just for fun.

Tom another great video and very useful information thanks. I get how the carbon makes contact with the commutator but where in the housing does the upper spring contact go? Should it sit to the side at 90 degrees as the spring is bent that way ? Much appreciated

I have had an issue with my Freerider Kensington S, everything working except the drive motor, fault traced back to the motor plug where it enters the controller, burnt connectors, now cleaned, a touch of Vaseline on each connector and I am not mobile. ALL CONNECTORS ARE WORTH CHECKING

Good stuff I've just put two shoprider scooters together to make one good one. I'm a woman and they're my scooters. Only thing is I have a few disabilities. The problem I Have now is my lights won't work. I've got new batteries on the spare. My other scooter is jerking away then stopping when I stop. So the fix was I have to get off the scooter and then put the yellow lever down move it a few inches and it worked again. As when it shakes and judders it bloody hurts. So I've put the new batteries on a spare one I had for the tyres a year ago. It's been outside but I had it well covered a litte bit of mould etc. Anyway I have done my best. I even swapped the fibre glass case from the back as my scooters lights worked. Nothing o the newish one but the power is fine no juddering noise when it reverses etc. So fingers crossed. Put the best tyres on. I feel guilty leaving my beloved scooter outside!!. Do you think it's just a fuse? I had a good look at them and cleaned it up there was only one wire attached to the fiber glass hood and it fitted well on the one Im trying out now.

I purchased a Gogo plus everything works on it no beeps no flashing lights the problem is that when you go forward from Stand still it clonks and jolts you back into the seat likewise when you go backwards.we traced it back to the rear part as we tried another one and it worked fine. The motor itself looks like it has been worked on before with a new gasket and its very clean for a 2014 model We did try and change the brake all be it from another model but still the same problem any idea?

If the batterys are both new and voltage going in to controller is 25 and out the most it will do is like 9 and 8 volts in reverse am i missing something he needs this thing to get around and i said i would look but ijust dont know

I just got a medical scooter..And just because I drove over a little bit of gravel and rocks the battery disconnected!! but I didn't know why or what happened..And I can't walk so I was stuck..But at least now I know how to fix it

I've got a wee bit of a problem I can't solve. Battery is fully charged, Charger works, and 24.5v at the charging port, but as soon as you accelerate, she only goes 3" and konks out. It's almost as if the drive lever is popping out, but it's not. And I know the codes don't go that far, but it beeps 8 times! Och I dae nu?

Hi am pleased to commend you on your contributions on & of the ills of mobility scooter: but I have a problem I would like to ask for your advise! I own a Drive Cobra GT-4 mobility scooter approximitly 4 years old that a first I through needed new batteries because after a charge the scooter would show full charge but would rapaidly lose that charge within 30 minutes of normal use; after batteries exchange the same systoms exist plus now it has no power to climb any inclines no matter how low! What could be the cause? When ever you have the time of course THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I have an old Bruno cub I can't find brushes for. I used 2 "43" brushes that I filed down to fit. They work but they get very hot. Is this normal? I also used a glass Fibre pen and cleaned it before I installed them. It runs but not very powerful. Is the motor shot?

Can someone tell me how to wire a new brake assembly, when my old one has four wires, two for the coil and two for the micro switch. The new ones only have two wires, how do I wire it back to the harness,( Motherboard)? It’s a 2000 pride sundancer. doesn’t move After I replace the batteries and accidentally squirted some WD-40 around the brake assembly and used a car charger on batteries. (12VDC, 12 Amp) to each battery individually, but failed to unplug wire harness. I’m wondering if this screwed up the motherboard by back feeding.? Using process of elimination…… I have Continuity on the micro switch. No continuity on the coil for the brake assembly. Continuity on the motor, but can’t get any ohm reading. I was going to apply directly power 24 V DC to the motor to confirm the motor works. I’m thinking the only thing that’s wrong is the coil on the brake assembly and I set of new brushes for the motor after I polish up the commutator and blow it all out. Can someone tell me how to wire back to harness the new style two wire brake assembly to a four wire harness. And explain the sequence of events related to power flow after you press forward or reverse… were does it go 1st, 2nd, 3rd for understanding. She was always a little jerky from time to time not too bad, you’d have to rock the chair back-and-forth a few times to get her to go again.

I have a question about my scooter. It is jerky and I took the gearbox apart and replaced the tiny bearing and cleaned out and regreased the inside. It still feels jerky (almost like I'm driving over a washboard). I don't feel it at fast speeds. Could it be the motor? I have a 3 wheel gogo scooter elite. Thanks for any suggestions.

hi i have a day strider been kept in shed not working i know batteries are fully charged as indicater needle shoots up to max on gauge when key turned on i know its not electronic brake as this is just hanging off to check it and working fine micro switch works.when i push lever to go i hear a click in i think control box but not sure its not the brake micro its louder the scooter just judders but not far about a foot then stops it keeps clicking on and off somewhere in back when lever to go is held on perminent i know motor moves as can see it but scooter hardly moves far any ideas please all fuses are ok and all leads pushed together properly

I have just got a scooter from my friend, it is from care co originally approx 8 years old but only used a few times, then decided to use it again so put two new battery's on it, and again never used it so it lay for over a year, I got it this week and charged it up and went out on it and it just stopped dead after approx 10mins, when I got it transpoted home again I put it bk on charge cos I thought maybe I hadn't given it long enough ,then the next day I took it out it done the same thing stopped dead after approx 1hr, and had to have it transported home again , thr ight is not working on it and the horn is not working , it is suppose to do 8mph but it is not doing that I would say approx 5 or 6mph, does anyone know if it would be the battery's as they had been in the scooter for approx a yesr, if I got two new battery's I'm thinking that may solve the problem, I don't know the model but I have the serial number and it says it takes 2x12V34AH battery's should I order them and try it or get someone to look at it, any feed back would be appreciated.

It does matter which way around when it comes to using an analogue meter which you could easier blow by getting the +/- the wrong way round. Bad advise by you!

hi mate i have a rascal ventura and my tiller has become quite loose/wobbly. the wobble seems to be coming from low down on tiller perhaps where the bearings are? do you know how to tighten up a wobbly tiller? i already tightened really tight the big bolt near bottom of tiller. also a small alum key bolt down near there i keep tightening that aswell. my steering has become very "light" so i have to use 2 hands on tiller as with one hand it can steer left or right so need ride with 2 hands on tiller aswell. any help appreciated. Hey man, I would just like to say thank you for your video's, they're probably far more reaching than you realise...story short, a family member who is gravely ill purchased a dodgy used scooter (there are some real unscrupulous sorts about) and with your video's I was able to repair it for him, he's now able to get out and about again 👍 Thank you brother God speed.
