Greetings from Finland! What a great videos you have Bjorn! Been following you for years. Now I just had to comment, that 2017 I have driven that same shitty condition road from Inari to Kittilä and just after Pokka where you saw that bird on a road, I had a flat tire. In the middle of winter night in January, full moon and around 23.00 o'clock. Was the fastest tire change of my life, since it was -41C outside :-) And found out that my spare tire was just barely inflated... BTW: If you want to experience maximun feeling of isolation, drive that road sometime in winter night. Road is also much smoother because of snow and ice. Cheers!

I’m getting a new car next year, and I might get a Tesla. Or a PHEV. Until a few days ago, I was pretty sure that PHEV was the right choice, I live in Piteå close to Lapland and what’s basically a supercharger desert. There’s a huge area in northern Sweden and Finland that has no superchargers. I like to go on fishing trips to the mountains in Lapland, over to Bodø in Norway and I’ve been many times to Rovaniemi, and even up to Ivalo a few times. Ivalo is over 500 km one way. Today I would chose an PHEV. But I just saw that Tesla is adding two new superchargers i Swedish Lapland (Arvidsjaur and Skaulo) later this year. By next year Tesla might cover northern Scandinavia with superchargers. Nice, I’ll might get a Model Y after all... :)

Interesting point you bring up, now cars can juice up on some healthy electricity, but the food on the "gas stations" has been traditionally... well, bad. Hope that will improve in the future too.

pretty bad roads up there, but beautiful landscape. I'd like to visit there one day.

I took the same shitty gravel road last year with my Ioniq going to north cape. It was already in September, so it was dark at night and I couldn't see too much. Was really happy when I got back to the asphalt road :D

I think the inefficiency could be due to the ~15kWh overnight draw, that is ~5% of the total consumption and equivalent to almost 10 Wh/km extra.

You could lower your tyre pressure for the bumpy part, though those tyres are pretty skinny. I did that on my old car when I had to travel an 80km logging road. I found 20psi, and going 80km/h would help me glide over the bumps. Kinda scary, but fun. Poor car though.

Please go further in to Russia Bjørn. Would be very interesting to see if its possible with an EV? Thank you for a wonderful trip to look at from the sofa! ;)

This was good stuff! I am planning to do a roadtrip to Vardø via Kirkenes with my Model X. Hopefully the charger in Kirkenes will work with the chademo adapter. One thing is for sure, I´m gonna make a stop at ICA in Överkalix.

Do a road trip to Russia. You have been so close this time. There is a unique tesla supersharger near Moscow, which has both the europen stalls and the american stalls. You can easily go there from Finland using only DC fast chargers.

From Kalix, you should've driven via Haaparanda-Rovaniemi-Sodankylä. Marginally longer, but much, much better roads. No gravel.

Hi Bjørn, nice video. I might have missed it, but could you talk about the consumption for heating this car compared to the ones with a heatpump ? I am in the end of choosing my next car, and the 2 options are the E-Niro and the M3. The M3 have a better cw number, but I wonder if that gets eaten up by the lack of heatpump. If you could bring that up, I would deeply appriciate it :)

@bjorn: i read an article in a Dutch website saying Tesla will roll out an update (this weekend?) for Europe so 200kw charging on M3 will be possible with 3rd party chargers. Did you hear anything similar?
