In this exclusive how-to scenery video from Model Railroader magazine, MR managing editor David Popp shows you a simple, proven technique for adding realistic waves to poured resin model water. David uses Woodland Scenics Water Effects to create his waves. The river is on the Model Railroader HO scale club layout, the Milwaukee, Racine & Troy, but David's method would work on N, O, S, or even Z scale layouts as well.

Soooo...why don't we get to see what the 2 areas where you applied the product looked like when it was dry? Isn't that really what we were watching for?

i have the three woodland water products...but wondering if this is comparable to liquatex, which we use for acrylic painting and modeling thickness...? comparisons?

this was back when the MR&T Layout was taking shape here David is painting Turtle Creek Canyon where the MR&T tracks cross the Winter Hill Mine Branch tracks outside of Bay Junction which is the 2011 project layout.

Very nice, I'll have to try that. Towards the end I noticed the background backdrop with trees. Is that painted? If so could you do a segment on painting backdrops? ( anybody can take pictures and have them blown up or purchase backdrops) Thanks.

Gloss mod podge works a lot better, and if you want a more realistic effect blow through a straw... I found this product dries too matte and doesn’t blend well with resin. Probably why he didn’t show the finished product lol. You can also use cotton balls to build up your water effects and create foam. This stuff isn’t the best way to spend money on model scenes
