I never knew about the maxi brute series, those are really great! It seems that all the old '50s sci fi movies that had a rocket used the black and white paint scheme US V-2 launch films.

Nice gift!! They put out the Maxi-Brute V2 a number of times. Based on the engine hook, yours looks to be a 1970's version. Although, the box didn't show the Honest John as one of the four Maxi-Brutes. I find that to be interesting. With your finishing skills, I bet the V2 will look awesome when done.

I still have my V2 from 1975... its heavy, and flew barely on a D. I also would build it again with an E. Very sentimental. Estes rockets paved the way for me to be an Aerospace Engineer!

You could paint the V2 white like the white sands one , i made mine from a big daddy kit since they don't make the maxi V2 anymore.

@@modelrockets3215 Love the Honest John. Finding a decent pershing rocket kit is rare indeed..Boyce hobbies has the nose cone, upper and lower fin and maybe the engine mount. You supply the body tubes. Ebay has the decal kits and the Boyce builders Pershing rocket kit..mabe a future build?

I would build this V2 with the E enginemount thay they did put in the re-release kit about 20 years ago (i think). With a D, it barely gets altitude and leans over and heads for London! Some scary flights. I bet with an E, it flys much better! I have a few of the E rerelease kits, and a 1975 kit sealed. And my original kit on display. Please use NEW estes rubber shock chord! Good luck and do splinter cammo scheme looks best!

Awesome! I still have that big Estes V2 EST 1952 in the box, very cool! Price tag still on it for $53.99. Looks like mine is from 2002-2004, wish I had that big Honest John now since I just finished the smaller Estes V-2 that came in the bag.

I think the box alone is worth some serious cash Keith. Notice the Swastika, I think it was omitted off the box early on in the production.

Not for sale. You have to do the mod yourself. I have a nice Sat V I build recently need to fly it again. The V-2 will be built and flown

@@modelrockets3215 I just bought the most recent kit (not rtf) new in the box at my local hobby shop for $79. It's the one in the tall cardboard box that flies on the D12-3. Looking forward to a long build.
