We seal our base with Plaster Cloth, which is the white that you see. We do not have a video tutorial for creating a base for a pond, specifically. However, the very beginning of this video woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/video/PrepareWaterArea gives you a brief look at the method we use.

Water Undercoat is intended to be used on your plaster base before pouring a water feature. You can find the instructions here: woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/WSWU

Depth for a water feature can be created by using our Water Undercoats or Liquid Pigments. You will use dark and light shades of color to create depth. The darker the shade, the deeper the water will appear. To create that type of feature, use the darker color in the center and the lighter shades towards the outside edges of the water feature.

Hello! Thank you for your interest in our products! Can you tell us a little bit more about your diorama or layout vision? Is your lake going to be clear or on the murky side?

@@ModelSceneryExpert your welcome and thank you for responding. I’m working on Friday the 13th diorama . Jason on the dock. I’ve gotten the dock almost complete. I’ve used tamiya xt-73 dark green for my first try . Looks pretty good. Any suggestions on other colors examples to try? I’m new to this so I’m in my early stages of experimenting. So open to try anything. I tried to do ripples in the lake and first try was terrible to my liking. Also what’s the best to do a lake diorama on? Definitely not foam board as it just bows up . I’m thinking foam block or some kind of thin board that won’t be easily warped . What do you think?

We recommend using a strip of clear polyethylene and attaching with Scenic Glue. Just make sure that the Scenic Glue is completely dry before pouring your Deep Pour Water or Realistic Water.
