Eric, an idea for a future video. Since Rumell is so pleasant and willing to be a part of the build series why not follow up with her 6 months from now after things have had a chance to settle in. Pick a few decisions you made during the build and see how they turned out.

It amazes me how well you work with your clients. She has been there through the whole build. As a tradesman nothing makes me more nervous than the person who hired me to be looking over my shoulder watching my every move. Not many businesses would be as easy to work with as your team makes it.

Electrician from Texas here. Flipping breakers right in front of your face like Jay did probably won't cause you any trouble, BUT if the breaker is faulty that's the last spot you want to be. Best practice is to stand to the side of the equipment to avoid injury from arch flashes.

Thanks for watching and cheering me and PBB and crew on. They filmed the last bit today of a couple of follow ups items as I was going to my storage unit to start getting furniture and what not in the house. They are posting about 2 1/2 weeks behind right now. Grateful that I should be living in my house prior to my stated deadline of my birthday! Bldg inspector should be coming out tomorrow , the 22nd! I have some packing and hauling of my personal items and some kitchen stuff. So hopefully by early next week I’ll actually be living in my dream home!

@@ramellesmith1520 I really love your new PBB built home Ramelle from the architectural design to the colors both inside and outside that you've chosen throughout your house and in every area looks slick as wonderful. Thanks for sharing your part of the journey of having your home built by the PBB crew Ramelle, its very rare that the viewers get to see input from a new house build owner, so you being there as the house was getting built, seeing your choices, input, and helping the PBB crew was like you were just another member of the PBB crew. Wishing you all the very best living in your brand new home Ramelle, I'm sure your new home will give you decades of happiness, memories, and comfort. Cheers Walt.

@@DrTubeman - thank you so much. Not all the PBB subscribers appreciated my being there. It was a very special contractor/ crew/ client situation that allowed me to become “part of the crew”. I am ever grateful for the experience and to know the ins and outs my house so intimately. And thanks for appreciating my choices. Again, not everybody does. But at the end of the day it’s what makes me happy and that’s what matters. I am over the top satisfied with the whole package and know I will enjoy my home immensely. Can’t ever thank PBB and crew, my architect and the PBB partners enough for my absolutely stunning home. And I should probably thank myself for having the ability to persevere to pull off this project - from helping clear the land to making choices on interior design and getting on the way to living in my dream home. There are also a ton of friends and family who helped me in all kinds of ways. Heart full here!

Jamie's plan for the bathroom cabinet placement reminded of this: Men always wonder how the ancient architects built the pyramids. I was thinking about this the other day as I was cleaning around an 80-lb potted palm tree and remembered when I brought it into the house from outside. By myself. Me, being a 106 lb. older lady with a bad back. And I thought, honestly, women probably built the pyramids -- or at least advised the men on the project. We know how to manage things far beyond our strength. That's OUR super power. ;)

Theres a heritage village in my town, its full of historic buildings that have been moved there. About 5 years ago a house that was being restored there burnt to the ground, because they left the oily rags on the porch when they went home for the night, and they lit up. I generally burn rags that I am worried about before I'm done the project, can't start a fire if they're already burnt 😅

Jamie, most of the hood manufacturers actually have a specification for the height of the hood off the stove to make sure they are drafting from the stove and not the whole kitchen. If you don't get the height right, it makes the hood much less efficient and can actually cause it to draft from the surrounding area and not work at all. Those specs should be in the installation manual (not the operating manual) that comes with the hood, and can also be downloaded from the manufacturer's websites.

I can speak to the spontaneous combustion of staining rags. I’m a property insurance adjuster. In the last few years I have had more claims involving building fires from chemical soaked rags (like stain) than any other cause. Discarded cigarettes 🚬 and batteries 🔋 going on a thermal runway are close at numbers 2 and 3 for likely causes.

Inside wireman from Los Angeles and I’ve done a lot of service calls with commercial lighting and homes. And those wagos are always the reason a light is out with the new led can lights. They will burn up when the contact isn’t perfect. It can be installed correctly but the thin metal bussing will act as a fuse and burn up. I’ve seen some completely gone burned up and disappear when I pulled the wires out the box and the breaker never tripped. So to avoid ever having to be called out for my work I avoid wagos and stick to old fashioned wire nuts. But I’ll always take the call to go out and fix them. Lol

AvE Did a video on rags soaked in curing oils. While it is TECHNICALLY possible for them to build up enough heat for them to combust, it is highly unlikely. He managed to get a pile of absolutely saturated rags to start to smoke, but no matter how hard he tried to get them to ignite on their own, it wasn't until he mixed in some saw dust and birch-bark tinder that it actually caught a flame. The one example I found of someone getting them to burn on time-lapse, he had a kerosene heater going and his shop was already well over 125F (50C). Unless the ambient temperature is over 80F (26C) and you are piling up rags about 6" deep, they're not going to build enough heat to combust. Good practice would be to leave them in open air to dry and keep them away from anywhere they could catch a spark (woodstove, grinders, ramset, tools with brushed motors, etc). Personally, if I'm going to be using more than one at a time, I put a bucket of soapy water nearby to toss them in so they are easier to clean and re-use and if I use paper towels to clean up drips or clean it off my hands, I just toss them into my ash bucket to use as tinder the next time I light my charcoal smoker or fire pit. Once cured, they work the same as those wax and lint, homemade fire starters, just with a shorter burn time.

Everyone knows it is the angle of the dangle that makes the knife sharp 😉 I'm getting a little impatient to see how the roofers do the cladding, I've been waiting since post 22, I think. Good post, be safe, be well 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨

Glad you fixed the smoke detectors! My dog runs and hides from that sound, even when it is on a video.😊

Thanks for appreciating my choices- assuming you meant that rather than the ceiling lights. though, I love them and appreciate Halo as a PBB partner!
