Yup. As an expert myself, he tends to over-explain things which is great for beginners, (I mean this in the best way possible!) He certainly needs his own platform because he would thrive. I just wish they let Arlo do that, I could never get enough because you know he has some insanely valuable tips & insight. It'll be sad if he retires because it's like losing grandma's entire cook book without cracking a page. At least we got to witness his mastery.

🙋‍♀️ I have not only been tempted to undo a one way flat head screw in a bathroom, but have done it. At church. As a young mom I took a pair of pliers and a some vice clamps in my diaper bag to church order to undo the door stop in the women's bathroom stall & switch it around. That way the door would swing out instead of in. Then at least one stall could be used without getting my dress in the toilet every time I entered the stall. It also made it way easier to "go" while wrangling two toddler girls. That was over 25 years ago and the last time I went to that building, about 10 years ago, no one had changed it back. 😂

Funny hearing you guys talk about drilling tile and security screws. My company installs partitions and commercial bathroom accessories. I have guys that have been with us for over 20 years and have drilled more than 2 million holes in tile. First, for tile you want to get some of the sharp carbide bits. The glass and tile work ok but the gold standard is from a company called relton. Tile is much tougher than you think once it’s grouted and you can give it a few hits with the impact. The torx bits with the center pin are usually T-27 they have almost completely replaced the one way flat heads, which were very easy to cam out of and skate across the face of finished material. The security screw thing is mostly driven by parks and schools which see a lot of vandalism, as well as some of the stainless and aluminum components being valuable for recycling. It’s a good idea to pre thread backing with stronger steel screw of the same thread before using stainless screws.

I just hung some grab bars on tile wall last week. Cheap tile drilling bit from home depot worked great.(ryobi bits) i started at smallest diameter then worked up through the síze to get the diameter I wanted. Worked much easier than i thought. I did the same thing you did with lexel. I also found those snap on covers over the screws to be a royal pain in the @ss.

In Canada square bit screws are very common and named after their Canadian inverntor P.L Robertson. Their advantagea over other types are the tapered wall of the square which helps to guide the bit into the square more easily and keep the bit in the square more effectively so the bit is less likely to wander. I use them all the time as they are much harder to strip compared to a Phillips style screw.

sanding nets are awesome for dust collection! they used to be patented, but the patent ran out, so you see more of them now. if you wanna try some, id reccomend the 3M Xtract Cubitron ii nets. everyone and their mother loves those! they last a long time and dust collection works wonderfully. the only slight downside to nets can be that they may not stick super well to the velcro on your sander, but almost every brand of sander sells pads for inbetween the sandpaper and the sander, which make that problem disappear.
