MTG's Modern Horizons 3 spoilers kick off officially on Tuesday, but Wizards has been slowly releasing some cards early in lore articles! Today we got one of the most exciting cards revealed so far - a souped up Panharmonicon for colorless decks - along with some strong lower rarity combo pieces! 5:49 I don't think Echoes of Eternity works with the New Capenna Lands in that way. Since they say "*when* you do" in regards to sacrificing it. So the trigger to sacrifiice it will go on the stack twice, but only the first trigger to resolve will do anything since you can't sacrifice it again to meet the second trigger's condition. edit: also if we're talking commander, this seems awkward to play alongside a new capenna land anyway seeing as you'd have to play it in a deck with at least one color in it to be allowed to play basics to search for, but a six mana card with three colorless pips that only cares about colorless stuff seems pretty clearly that it only wants to be played in colorless decks. Maybe a weird devoid deck?

@@lesternomo6578The reflexive trigger of the new capenna fetches will not be doubled. You can see the same thing with the attack trigger on Inti with a roaming throne on the field, the attack trigger to discard a card will trigger twice but the reflexive trigger to put a counter on a creature will only go once per discarded card.

Once upon a time is also better as you don't need it in your starting 7 just the first spell you cast so if you draw it, you can still play it for free which makes it a lot more useful for the free ability.

If we’re gonna Eldrazi-fy a creature card i’d love to see Soul Swallower become one. My first magic product was the delerium precon, so that Janky mechanic and even more Janky foil card holds a very special place in my heart.

While I think people will try Kozilek's Unsealing in Affinity, but as Seth said; it's not an artifact itself in a deck that cares about artifacts and unlike Up the Beanstalk it doesn't replace itself. As for Eldrazified versions of previous magic cards. An Eldrazi version of Colossal Dreadmaw and Storm Crow should be auto- includes. I also would like to see an eldrazi Gary.

While Kozilek's Unsealing nor it's mana dorks aren't artifacts themselves, the mana generate could be enough to leap frog you forward into your gameplan. For example even if KU makes your following Frogmite play clunky because of its non artifact nature, Frogmite should still pay for itself since you get two eldrazi dorks out it and still advance your affinity from frogmite itself. In theory, you be able to chain casts like that until you stabilize your affinity and start drawing cards. Not a modern player or anything, so take my advice with grain of salt.

a few things to note about the echo's of eternity it being kindred is huge since you can really benefit from the busted lands. 2 mana from eldrazi temple eye of ugin reduces the cost cards basically 3 mana.

12:57 also devourer has a cast trigger, so basically uncounterable exile, which is def a problem that karn can run into.

@MTGGoldfish, you should try building around Ratadrabik of Urborg, Echoes, and the Eldrazi Titans. Not only do you double up your triggers on spell cast, but you get to keep your copies as Ratadrabrik brings them back, unless, Echoes doesn't give you copies of the permanent as well...

If I was going to eldrazify any creature from magic history, Bird of Paradise. I'm guessing it would be a 0/1 flyer for 1 colorless that taps for a Scion token.

Interesting in theory but i doubt it would be tap without a cost (1-2mana) to make a token, or it cost 2 mana at least.

@@Welverin considering ornithopter of paradise is the closest comparison, id say yes unless you add some other restriction. Maybe tap another creature like with springleaf drum or only use if you control at least 2 other eldrazi or it has some sort of counter it uses for mana. But i both hope and dont think it is likely that we get a straightup nongreen 1 drop mana dork.

broker's hideout won't double up will it? - lands don't get cast so the land won't double - its trigger is worded in a way that the sacrifice has to resolve to move on to the fetch. copy will fizzle right?

I'm sure everyone will love this: Dockside Contortionist 1-R Creature - Eldrazi Goblin Devoid When ~ enters the battlefield create X 0/1 colorless Eldrazi spawn tokens where X is the number of creatures and planeswalkers your opponents control. They have "Sacrifice this creature: add (1) to your mana pool." 2/1

Echoes of Eternity copying of the spell doesn’t make new cast triggers, just gives you a second copy of the base spell. Copying a spell isn’t casting a spell, unless that effect says cast it. For those that need this reminder.

Any one of these three lands--Ugin's Labyrinth (exiling a colorless card with mv >= 7), Eldrazi Temple, or Ancient Tomb--on turn 1 into Sol Ring, then on turn 2 any of those lands you didn't play on turn 1 = turn 2 Echoes of Eternity in Commander. Sure, that is statistically unlikely to happen....but every now and then it will. For Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, the copy is not cast, so you won't get two extra turns, only one. Copying annihilator triggers will happen, though, so broken enabler is broken.

I mean Ugin's still a land in legacy, so Kozilek's Unsealing's gotta be interesting in stompy eldrazi. 4 cost eldrazis become almost free if you have the Ugin up, in some ways better than free because you can also store the mana, and maybe you just splash the new 7 with the new land and it just gets you somewhere.

5:49 new capenna lands cant be doubled. We already have this synergy with Panharmommycon Elesh Norn and it doesn't work cause the ability requires you to sac the land

Specifically regarding EDH Echoes of Eternity is one of those great on paper pay 6 do nothing on the turn it enters enchantment that get a lot of hype but are too expensive to cast and will be cut sooner or later from the more competitive 7-8 power level casual EDH decks. At 4 mana Panharmonicon is way more affordable and therefore more likely to be able to doublespell the urn it comes into play and get value. Yes there are some colorless permanents that can trigger with it the same turn Echoes of Eternity enters but im not convinced there are enough of those. It is super cool tho. We will see.

Echoes of Eternity isn't limited to Eldrazi spells, colorless can be anything but mostly artifacts. So the question here is: Is there a version of Tron brave enough to try this? Also you could try this in a Staxx like shell to maximize the output of your spells in Legacy. So suddenly you get two Tangle Wires or double the artifacts from casts to throw into the smokestack and stuff. The rather high CC is just a bit crippling.

I wanna see Eldrazi delver of secrets. Like a guy studiying Eldrazi knowledge and then turning into one, feels like a side of the eldrazi we have not seen as much. Maybe it could flip from Colorless creature cards? Maybe flip into a 3/2 annihilator 1? Works pretty well since Emrakul is imprisoned in innistrad to.

Nulldrifter does trigger twice because of the first part - “if a triggered ability of a colorless spell” this is same reason the Emrakul extra turn triggers twice

So I'm confused by your explanation of echoes. How would it double the cast triggers of the eldrazi and give you 2 extra turns, but not double the cast trigger of nulldrifter and draw you 4 cards?

He says it right after explaining how poorly he described it the first time. He says you draw 4 cards from the first nulldrifter but nothing from the second, just an extra body on board

basking broodscale just goes infinite with Mazirek and makes infinite mana and very large broodscale. Scurry oak is also very good in Mazirek EDH, but broodscale is a little bonkers and for 2 mana to play.

I think it's cool that they lean into themes with this MH set, instead of blindly throwing out busted cards that slot into any deck, but damn do I just not care for Eldrazi.. hope there's some other exciting stuff coming.

I completely got lost with the Eldrazi-Monicon. You say that with Emrakul you would take two turns, and Kozilec will draw you 8 cards. Both of them have those as cast triggers, but then you say Null drifter wont draw you four cards because its a cast trigger. What am I missing here?

I was confused for a minute by this as well. He's saying that the second Nulldrifter created by the second part of Echoes won't draw you another 4 cards, but the original Nulldrifter you cast will have its cast trigger copied. So, with 2 copies of the spell, only the original cast trigger is doubled, and not the cast trigger of the token that's created. I think. (It's 3 A.M. so I might be missing something/also explaining horribly)
