31:00 Amped raptor token copy does indeed give energy, but veggie wouldn't have had an exile-and-cast-for-energy trigger. That second part is only IF CAST FROM HAND

amped raptor only makes energy when it's copied. It has to be cast from your hand to get the cascade like effect. 30:59

35:10 Nerdgirl had a trigger off of Lurgoyf. Weirdly Lurgoyf does NOT care about the types of cards in graveyards but the NUMBER of creatures in all graveyards. Likely would have been much larger

So when the Vault 112 was cast, he didn't need to say he was going to target ulamog, and if she let the saga resolve she could not counter spell that. because the saga ability is not a spell you can counter.

@@killeryodellingmonkey4192 I guess, but 100% this wouldn't fly in my pod, I'd not voice my intent to tap the creature until it resolves and refuse to give any information about what the saga is going to tap, they either counter it now or let it resolve.

As the eldrazi player you politic and say: is this targeting my Ulamog? And see if they want to make a deal. If not you assume it’s targeting your Ulamog, being the scariest thing on the field, and counter it before it resolves.

If it’s a cast you don’t declare targets because it be on the stack? So basically if it was cast you have to wait for your opponent to Counter spell if not but your opponent’s doesn’t know what your target is

At the same time she just put the milled creatures on the battlefield, but disas ability is a trigger, they first go to the graveyard, which would have triggerd dreadhound 3 times.

25:50 - Oof. Veggie naming Ulamog as the target for the first chapter of Vault 112 means that it resolved, meaning Zbexx would not have been able to counter it with NEB. She would not have had the information before she had the opportunity to do so and only played the counter because it was targeting her permanent.

Starting @34:00 mtgnerdgirl needs to read her cards. Pyrogoyf is dmg equal to the entering creature's power, Lhurgoyf power and toughness is equal to the amount of creatures in graveyard, not card types, it may have done more or less damage, and Accursed Marauder says each player, which would include her.

It sucks in the deck. You're already making tarmagoyf everytime you attack. It would be a waste of a spot. What they actually needed to do was just make more new goyfs for the deck.

@@thricewise1254 he would be an early creature and sac to many of the effects in the deck. Also a great card to have In the Bin for coram without having to give up a better goyf. He wouldn’t be amazing but he would be one of the better goyfs in the deck.

@@thricewise1254 I have added the tarmogyf and can confirm he still slaps. You really want a critical density of goyfs and each one is a real threat with pyrogoyf. He could easily be a cursed mirror though to copy pyro.

When airball sac'd thespian stage while it was Dark Depth, he should have brought it back in because it was a desert and desert warfare saw it get sac'd. Also Veggie probably should have left airball alive. Since Zbexx was adamant on decking Airball out.

At 13:00 he would not have been able to cast the Oblivion Stone. The urzas tower would have come in tapped with the archdruids charm , so the board wipe would not have happened

maybe i'm missing something, but doesn't planar nexus turn on tron by itself because it is all 3 so if you have it plus 1 tron piece it is active regardless of everything counters.

I didn’t know a ETB trigger you don’t have to pick a target when you play because it’s not a spell cast like a Instant or sorcery so basically your opponent doesn’t know if they are going to counter spell it or not because they don’t know your targets

31:00 the rapter is a cast trigger not an etb trigger copying it doesn't trigger the 2nd part of the card.

I don’t really understand why the eldrazi deck doesn’t seem to be seen as a risk for so long. Not concentrating on Zbexx was fatal in the end.. but that’s easy to say watching from afar. It’s just.. I see those colorless decks all the time and they win almost every time, because Eldrazi titans seem to be strong ;)

Does an everything counter make lands urza's tower etc, or does it just make them also "Urza's"? Edit: also, everything counters do nothing unless the commander is actually in play, yes?

It makes them urzas everything so you can take your urza lands for there greater mana taps right away, but it doesn't give your everything land's the ability to tap for greater mana if that's what you were wondering. Yeah everything counters need that commander out to do anything at all

why was dark depths sacrificed? The rule is you pick which one to sac and which to keep: 704.5j If two or more legendary permanents with the same name are controlled by the same player, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners’ graveyards. This is called the “legend rule.”

as others have said, the Null elemental blast shouldn't have been able to target the vault saga, as target would only be chosen after it resolved due to it being a saga ability.

@@paulmackenan6043 They're editing out some lesser details I think, but its common in casual commander for a player to end their turn and the next player to say, oh, in your end step I do x. In-person seems to be way more lax than if you watch Magic The Gathering Online gameplay. If you watch that you'll see all the times that priority is passed and how...tedious...it can be. Veggie made a mistake with this kind of short-cutting gameplay when he played that saga, when he cast it ZBexx would need to counter it before it entered the battlefield and he chose a target but he didn't ask for responses and told the table his target.

@@paulmackenan6043Also legally, you always have to allow your opponent a chance to respond. So what really happened was Veggie gave out more info than he needed to and it caused his spell to be countered as retaliation.

The everything counters are just that, counters. Omo adds the effect to the counters, hence why she must be on the field for the counters to do anything.

@11:54 when you copy the spell. You aren’t casting the copy so you don’t get the cast trigger from the copy. You just put the copy on the stack and don’t cast it

Ulalek also copies the ability itself, since it's on the stack when his "copy all spells, then copy all triggered/active abilities" effect goes off.

first time seeing the ulalek deck. And out of the box The eldrazi deck is the weakest of the bunch.....But that Goyf deck is UNREAL. I have watched many different people play that deck and pyrogoyf just pops off and does so much. Super hard to deal with.

I don't think I will ever be able to call it "Mana Value." I know they changed it a while back, but it's forever stuck in my brain as "CMC" (aka "Converted Mana Cost" for any new players not in the know.) I still don't know why they bothered changing it. The old terminology was just as intuitive as the new one is. Maybe to save printing costs since "mana value" is fewer letters than "converted mana cost"? That's the only rational I can think of that makes sense. Although considering how few cards actually reference that mechanic I can't see how that could possibly matter in terms of financial well being of the company, so it still seems arbitrary and dumb if you ask me.

Also another one. When a creature has an everything counter does it also count as land creature?

@@philippundso2975 No for the everything counter, everything counters make creatures all creature types, and land isn't a creature type, but yes, absolutely correct about Ulalek, it copies all spells (copying the nulldrifter here), activated and triggered (copying the nulldrifter's ability here) abilities you have on the stack. Pretty gross card.

@@atomic_et If you sacrifice the copy to the legend rule then you're not sacrificing it to the trigger which creates merit lodge. Both lands need to go to the graveyard for the combo to work. The first time during state-based actions you choose to sacrifice the one with the counters on it then the copy has its ability trigger because it has no counters on it and you sacrifice it to make the token.

@@BenjaminKlahnmy interpretation was that he copied with stage, erroneously sacrificed the stage to the no counters trigger for the token, before legend rule, and then remembered and correctly sacs the original to state based, so that the copy can resolve the depths trigger. So while he physically handled the triggers out of chronological order, within the casual setting of commander, he did handle the game triggers in the correct way, both lands went to the gy and he paid for the activation during his priority, so I personally don’t think he did the combo wrong
