I love the 'threat assessment' of 'if I don't kill that player I have to watch them fiddle with things for like ten actions'

Since Ojer Taq returning to the battlefield as a land is a triggered ability and not a replacement effect it shouldve resolved after necromantic selection fully resolves, making ojer taq a legal target to be stolen by necromantic selection. this is also why necromantic selection can steal opponent's commanders. The commander returning to the command zone from the graveyard is a state based action, which take place each time an effect is cleared from the stack (either by fully resolving, or fizzling) and before players gain priority.

39:50 Fun Fact: because commanders now go to the graveyard and exile and are then moved to the command zone the next time state based actions are checked, Maldhound could have stolen anybody's commander. I thing VeggieWagon made a short about this actually

Commanders going to the command zone is a replacement effect, they might hit the graveyard but there is never a time to steal them from a graveyard

@@latinojackson9694yes, but that specific card is phrased in a way that bypasses it. It's because the replacement effect doesn't trigger until AFTER the spell resolves, and putting the creature onto the battlefield under your control is part of the spell.

Was just about to comment on this. Airball shouldn't have transformed the Ojer taq at 39:32 until Mald fully resolved the selection.

Maldhound said I tried to extend an olive branch and what’d she do clapped it straight out of my hands. No more we are on draw go play now. Maldhound is always entertaining to watch and I love his interactions with the group when playing both humble and salty at the same time

This was a truly great episode. The decks were great and everyone looked like they had a chance to take it all the way at some point - well except Mald unfortunately...but he was playing kingmaker for a lot of the game so between that, his triumphant trigger tracking, and his magic hands, he still deserves a lot of kudos. Great work everyone!

The mystery theme has to be goin grave robbing, seeing as everyone' commanders pull stuff from the graveyard - Cept for Nerd Girl's, but then again half of her commanders is golgari, which pretty much guarantees some recycling, yeah?

I'm guessing the theme was help the player to the left. Shrines mills for graveyard, graveyard gives narset lots of things to steal, narset plays a bunch of small spells for Ishai, walls are (typically) passive to help the shrines stack.

39:40 incorrect ojetak will go to the graveyard and could have been grabbed as it is a triggered ability and will not go on the stack till the boardwipe resolves. This is partially why commanders also could have been stolen due to the timing they take when getting moved around for tucking. (same reason why you can't tuck away on an instant blink.)

I believe Mald could of stolen the Ojer when he cast the board wipe since the effect is 1 entire thing that follows the process of resolution the ojer trigger wouldnt go into resolution until the spell finished

There shouldn't have been a land for worm harvest since when Titania melds it returns ALL, not any number, of land cards from GY to play.

Ishai/ikra was a partner combo I used to play years ago. My list wasn't dependent on defenders, it was really fun though.

I think i know what the theme is. Mine would be a deck that tries to make as many snake tokens as possible, go as wide as humanly possible, then when I hit someone with one of the snakes, have a ton of combat effects. After combat one of the snakes that succeeds gets transformed into a very large, mean and nasty thing that becomes everyone's problem including myself as I'm the miserable sod that sired it.

with the necromantic selection you could have taken any of the commanders or Ojer before replacement/triggers happen, bc it is still resolving and state based checks after resolution and triggered happens obv after resolution. woulda been interesting to see you steal the birdy.

Wouldn't that Primal Vigor cause that burn (27:40) on the spider legend to create 8 -1/-1 counters? I know the damage was four but since they were turned into counters that would have been 8 yeah? Same with the -0/-1 counters on Wall of Roots. Then there is that Tamiyo..the Primal Vigor just throwing off everyone in here haha...Airball is the true Agent of Chaos, Lord of Misstrigger and Missplays. His shrines offered untold power to the peasants who had no will to wield them deftly!

Read the Card, it only cares about tokens and +1/+1 counters. Not any kind of counters like other enchantments do.

Watching this makes me really want to rebuild new narset again. She just always felt like she didnt do much for me, but old narset is WAY too powerful to build. And Malds deck actually felt more on the monk flavor than others i saw, which i really like

39:32 That's not how that works. Maldhound gets to choose the creature as the spell is resolving. The God's ability will trigger either way, but if the God weren't in the graveyard as its trigger resolved (such as if Maldhound had chosen it), then the ability would have no effect.

oh a shrines deck, i know who the archenemy is, possibly in the game but also just irl and generally. this is why zacama should exile enchantments and every deck should run enchantment exile.

@@nikhilchhagan7371 oh i absolutely do lol. also very fond of a green spell i forget the name of that lets you exile up to three enchantments for 3 mana or cycle for 2. a lot of the times with shrines though you just need player removal, i handle a lot of enchantment decks with control decks built to blow em up, but shrines id rather just be on immodane type deck

@@nikhilchhagan7371 you are my kin lmfao, i love haywire mite so much, i wish i had more green decks that could get the most of out of it. right now i get a lot of value out of it in my glissa sunslayer greenblack control deck, but thats more focused on the graveyard as endgame with mass rez finishers, so doesn't have a lot of small recursion to make the most of it. i should build some decks for repeat/small recursion, might look at Samwise

Primal Vigor is just +1/+1 counters, not all counters. Much less broken than Doubling Season (and thus also nowhere near as expensive)

Even then, loyalty abilities don't double to the effects like Doubling Season because it's a cost, not an effect
