I have a 12900k as well so I'm very happy to have found this video. I've noticed some stuttering in quite a few of the games I play, and it was always in the back of my head that just maybe the 2 different types of cores in my cpu weren't used properly by games.

Man thanks so much, I have an I7 11th gen and 3080 and couldn’t figure out why it was stuttering so much and had to change the render value to match 8 cores and it’s so smooth now. Absolute legend.

there was the same problem in cod 2019 with the render worker count and thanks to u i think i fixed my stuttering

For me the static reflection quality goin from high to normal helped alot with my 1%lows and overall renders in certain areas

Great video. I've been searching for this setting since the BETA. On the original Warzone and MW it's under Documents, then COD Modern Warfare, Players and finally "adv_options", RenderWorkCount.

Hey! So far this has worked for me. I would run the benchmark test and got stutters like every 2 seconds even though the game was saying I had 100fps

For me, the fix was moving it off my HDD to my M.2 SSD. Massive difference! I guess it was just too slow to load whatever on the HDD (7200 RPM speed)

For me the RenderWorkerCount was set to 4. I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600, so i set it to 6 and so far it worked. The stutters are not completely gone but they are not as often as before and overall the Performance improved. Thanks a lot!

Some extra info: The goal is to make the game use only half of your available THREADS. So if your CPU supports hyper-threading, which pretty much every current gen CPU does, simple use the number of available cores (on AMD and up to 11th gen Intel) or performance cores (on 12th and 13th gen Intel). Examples: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X has 6 cores and 12 threads ➜ RendererWorkerCount:0.0 = "6" AMD Ryzen 5 3600 has 6 cores and 12 threads ➜: RendererWorkerCount:0.0 = "6" AMD Ryzen 9 3900X has 12 cores and 24 threads ➜: RendererWorkerCount:0.0 = "12"

I have an RTX 3070 OC edition and a Ryzen 9 5900x, should I set my renderer worker count to 12? I had previous issues with this in mw2019 and couldn’t resolve them, but I had high hopes for this one. Everything worked fine during the beta and ever since the global release of the game I’ve been getting micro second frame drops and I’m on 522.25 nvidia driver.

Thanks for the tip. It was only using 4 cores of my 6 core 3600X. Still get the occasional frame time spike but overall a smoother experience. It seems like once the match is going for a minute or two the stutters all but stop

Thanks for these fixes. I don't play this game, but my partner was having constant lag, going from 144fps down to 40 and all over the place making the game unplayable on i9 12900k and 3090. Game is now super smooth.

Did all of that, tried several drivers, disabled texture streaming, disabled HT and perf cores, changed renderthreadcount, disabled HAGS, the lagspikes are still there… it needs a fix.

Will try this tonight, my problem only starts after a few games?? Runs perfectly to begin with then after 3/4 games I start getting lag spikes. Running a 3080 / i7 literally get nearly 200fps on some maps on max settings

We got an answer from nvidia after sending some samples nvidia says the following regarding the stutters: it is not caused by our driver or graphics card. The main game thread is waiting for something wich is not clear in the trace. That waiting is holding up the worker threads and gpu until its completed. So its an issue with the game that infinity has to fix.

After watching what feels like 30 videos trying to fix this, I found that moving the game from my D drive to my C drive ( HDD to SDD) it fixed all my problems. Hope this helps

I’ve still got an i7 7700k. Just want to say that this not only fixed my stuttering, but also gave me a decent boost in fps depending on the map.

I get massive lag spikes at the start of a match and the menu is clunky,then as I run around the map it improves. I was also having white screen flashes. the latest Nvidia driver was part of the problem, I reinstalled and earlier version. but I am still having stuttering so will try this next, it is strange the the beta worked really smoothly and I was having good fps on moderate settings. The launch version seems to have gone backwards

Your videos are always so helpful. After I added an in game Nvidia filter. My game started to get some lag spikes. Changes this and now I haven't been seeing them

This would normally fix the issue, as i had the same problem on cold war... However, i still get the odd micro stutter... any ideas?

update: I tried to change it from 11 - > to 8 Same thing here too. 1 Micro Stutter lag spike every now and then, with 12700K/RTX3070/32GB DDR4/ Windows 11 21H2 (drivers 522.25). The game was running pretty much good the first - release - date and the beta days. After they release a little update yesterday the stuttering appears.

Oh mate, my rig is heavily bottle-necked by my CPU (i5 6400 - non K variant), and this definitely fixed stuttering! My gameplay is so incredibly smooth now, THANK YOU!!! Been playing this since pre-launch, and have been gaming with stutter this entire time, however no more! Cheers mate :D

Does not matter what I change I cant get rid of the frametime spikes (EDIT: I have a i7-12700k and 3080ti if anyone finds a fix related)

My issue is that the menu is stuttering and kind if laggy i haven’t even tried to get into a match yet. If anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it.

For the one brave soul searching for a specific answer, i hope you find this. I had a problem with my new CPU which worked in every other game as intended (+30-40fps because 3 gen’s skipped) but WZ2. I constantly got 5fps in menu + my CPU and GPU usage was basically 0-5%. I thought it was a shader problem, because the intro went smooth but the moment it finished installing the shader or optimizing it, i had freeze frames in menu and game. I preinstalled my bios update before i installed the cpu because it took a while till it arrived and put d.o.c.p. (equivalent to xmp) in BIOS after installing the chip. After i tested every “Fix” on the net, i rolled back my nvidia driver to 522.25 (pretty sure thats not one of the fixes but im not gonna update now that it works) and reinstalled my BIOS update, started without d.o.c.p. and it worked.. went back to d.o.c.p. right after and it still works. BIOS UPDATE after putting the CPU in, just saying.

What if my renderWorkerCount was already set at "renderWorkerCount = 7", but the total cores for my CPU is 8. Is that still ok or do I still need to change it to 8?

EDIT: frametimes smoothed out more, fps are more consistent but im still feeling sluggish and getting stutters every once in a while. About to find out, 2080Ti,, i7-12700K,,32Gigs of RAM,, just DDU’d back to 522.25 and thanks to you finally found this games config files, it used to be more important because i had an i7-9700K up until two weeks ago, the lack of Hyperthreading had me set the count to 4 and i still bottlenecked in multiplayer, was around 60-80% usage. Now im around 15-25% usage and able to use more cores. Can’t wait to upgrade the GPU and PSU next. 3090 is what im aiming for but if the 3080Ti drops a little more im snagging. The 2080Ti will just be a second rig for emergencies or friends or somethin idk.

This sadly does not fix anything for me. I have had the same problem since Mw 2019, now the same with the new MW2. Its unplayable, I cant even move... FPS counter says its 2FPS. My pc is not bad at all, I can play Forza Horizon 5 at 3440x1440 on High settings at 120FPS.

I have a question. So, I’m on the latest driver and hadn’t done any changes to the files. The campaign works fine. The maps from the beta work fine, exceptionally I can say. But the new maps lag a lot. It’s at the limit of being unplayable.

Hey, I have a big concern I have i9-11900KF Nvidia GeForce 3060 12GB Vram 16GB Ram But always when I load into the map it works for some minutes and then my fps drops out of no where to like 20 and then goes back to 120 and this keeps on going like every 20 seconds any suggestions already reinstalled driver and what not

As a follow up to my last comment and reading some of the replies I fixed my massive lag spikes/stuttering by doing the following : my pc-- intel i7 9700 3.6ghz running overclocked at 4500 hz with rtx3070 rolled back the Nvidia driver to earlier version to stop white screen flicker This is an 8 core cpu so set render worker count to 4 as I had with MW19 reducing the graphics quality and turning off on demand texture streaming helped a little but still very poor at the start of a match Thanks to the comment from viral physics I moved the game from my D drive (normal hard drive) to my C drive (SSD) and success the game now works great and I have been able to turn my graphics quality back up

Thank you bro for this fix, but i was wondering if this fix also goes to BR, because i was lagging at the beginning and for like a minute it fixs. I downgraded the graphic driver to 522.25 version and made the correction when lag occured.. will it work properly if i downgrade a little bit more the version or i need to edit one of the BR file from Call of Duty folder? I just want to run smoothly the game from the beginning, i don’t wanna wait those minutes.

According to Album Performance, render worker count is not about setting how MANY cores you want to engage but how MUCH load all the existing cores are taking. There is a sweet spot for every user. First, set the value to the number of cores your CPU has, then open the task manager while in game, monitor if the cores are hitting 100%, if so, then it's bottlenecking and so you should lower the value by 1 or 2, avoid any cores hitting 100% or you lose performance.

i setted RendererWorkerCount to 6 now it works again and got above 100 fps with my ryzen 5 3600 really thanks bro

Is there a Win11/Blizzard alternative to this? I don't have the "players" folder or any "options" files. But I have the EXACT issue you're covering in this video. The game will just stutter and lag, especially during close quarters combat engagements where there's a lot going on.

For almost everyone out there your cpu core count should be detected automatically. If you aren't sure don't change it. The primary issue with stuttering right now is drivers and GPU utilization errors caused by constantly having your GPU at 85% or more usage. It is fine to spike there a lot, but not to constantly have that as you see in the video even if it is a liquid cooled card. It can damage the hardware and cause issues in game as well. The issues won't be as severe at first as 100% CPU utilization, but they are there... believe me.

ive had a strange issue in the game where it works fine. but i cant use ANY of the supersampling or any of that. Fidelityfx CAS, DLSS, Image Scaling....no matter the method, it causes massive stuttering and dropped frames even to the lowest degree of sharpening strength. i use a Ryzen 7 5800x and Rtx 3070ti.

I have an important question, should I disable SMT via processlasso or just keep hyperthreading on?

The same thing on the 5800x3D + 3070ti, before the first days of the game were lower fps, but stuttering was not, but now it's a crack, every few seconds lag, a change of rendering 7-8 does not help.

Brother tysm. Just bought my first ever pc and game wasn't running too well so was very frustrated.. This didn't do anything to my stutters however my ping went from constant 60 to 30 huge. Stutters are not so frequent anyway..
