My name is Tyler and this is my first waterfall table. Its a black walnut slab that was about 6 feet long and about 36 inches wide at the crotch. First off I flattened it using my router with a small bit (one day I'll be able to afford a larger router). Then I filled all the cracks with TotalBoat epoxy. After that I made the final pass with my router, trimmed the edges, and then literally cut it in half. That was so scary!!! Then I just used my new biscuit joiner to put it back together. Then I made the opposite leg out of steel tube that I cut and welded together at my father-in-law's shop. I love this table and I can't wait to make more! Thanks for watching!!! :)

It's always dope to see DIY videos without tons of expensive equipment. Great work! I will be doing one similar soon so this was a huge help!

It’s funny cause the metal is second nature to me as a welder but I’m a little intimidated about making these miter cuts without a track saw! Thanks for the video, helpful and entertaining

How has the wood movement been? Also is the joint pretty strong?

Good work man. Again, good work. Did you sell it? Was also wondering what something like that might cost me if so. I've seen things like that for sale. Outrageous to not so bad. I do a little wood working with slabs I've made. Haven't went fully to this level.

It didn't seem super tight but there wasn't a great shot of it either. Getting that seamless joint is tough with those tools. Exactly why I'm on here looking at videos, looking for tips on the perfect joint without using professional tools

Are you using plain packing tape to prevent epoxy leaking out?

I see that you superglued (?) clamping cauls to blue painters tape. How is it that the painters tape withstands the pressure of the clamps and doesn't peel off? I was planning to use a brittle hide glue to adhere clamping cauls to my mitre joint but this method seems to involve SO MUCH less cleanup after the joint has set up. Rather than chiseling off the hide glue you merely pull up the painters tape.

They just barely managed to hold on. In hind sight i would have put the painters tape parallel with the grain. It would have held on a lot better that way. I was more concerned with closing gap than I was clamping down with tons of pressure. The clean up was non existent

If i were you I would use about 6 to 8 inch pieces of tape and lay the first piece on the edge about an inch from the joint and then lay all the subsequent pieces overlapping all the way across the joint. The surface area of the tape with allow for just enough grip to allow you to clamp it into place. Just dont over do it.

To be honest, that was a really good video BUT at 10:35, I got really nervous that the steel leg would fall and damage itself, or the wood top. Easy to make to error - ask me how I know..... (it has nothing to do with the workmanship - that was beautiful. I'm just trying to prevent the point of a rant / tool throwing etc.)
