Money makes things more convenient, but in my experience, it doesn't buy happiness (or contentedness, to your point). He left a lucrative job last year that kept him on the road 5+ days a week because he was becoming miserable and desperately wanted to spend more time with the family. To me it is more important that he feels proud and satisfied with his life than him bringing home big paychecks. We have a little farm now that we work together- it is hard work and there's not much money in farming, but we love the lifestyle, love teaching our kids to be self sufficient together, and are both very content. Watching him smiling, laughing and being excited again has been totally worth it. So in a nutshell, yes. 😁
