Modified BMW M240i Review & Comparison To My C43 AMG

I take this modified BMW M240i up to some country roads and see whether this is all the 'M' car you'd ever need - especially when this one is pushing out around 430hp. The mods don't stop there either: a FULL carbon exterior kit to include front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, mirrors and spoiler along with a gorgeous carbon & alcantara M performance steering wheel. The exhaust has also been fiddled with for some extra antisocial noises...
How does it compare to my previous Mercedes CLA 45 AMG and my current facelift C43 AMG? I'm an AMG fanboy but Affalterbach's rivals have done a solid job with this offering.

Should you buy an M2? Or save some cash, get an M240i and do some mods...and still have some change leftover? Discuss...

At least on paper there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference performance wise between the m2comp and the m240i. And I wonder if you opted for the Limited Slip Dif on the M240 if the differences with how they handle would be even closer. So is it worth the additional $10k for the m2c? Depends on what you are using the car for such as track days or a daily driver. If the latter the m240 makes a compelling argument.

Great informative vid - just in the process of purchasing my own C43 Coupe 2019 reg You’re right the gearbox is slow on the AMG! Wondering if I should be going for a BMW now...

Great video, I’ve got exactly same set up but struggling with tyre rubbing on the wheel arch over bumps, did you use camber bolts to tuck the rear wheels in ?

So I used to own a 2017 Mercedes Benz c300 which I unfortunately lost in a flood. I took the insurance money and bought a 2017 M240i. Do u think I made the right decision? I kinda miss the nice Mercedes interior, but the performance on the BMW compared to what I had is pretty sick. What do u think?

I have watched many 240i reviews on KZfaq before deciding to buy one in December (same colour but with red leather interior), but never spotted this one until now. I have to agree with you on the performance (with a tune) being all you need. Mine is kicks out 450bhp and I love it to bits. Yes there is the M2 Competition, but I have a house and family to look after and the M240i allows me to have a car that makes me smile every time I drive it! The sound from the MPerformance exhaust is immense too.... Do like that steering wheel though so need to find one of them and then I will stop spending money on it 😉....maybe

I had a 240i for 2 year and now a m2c. The m2c is alot more planted but I would say the 240i is better daily because of that ZF gearbox.

Proper drivers car. Others prefer 4 wheel drive coz it's easier,nahh these are last of dying breed enjoy these cars while u can 👍

The answer to the question if you should buy an M2 or M240i is very easy. If you want convertible and xdrive, take the M240i, if you want a coupé with rear wheel drive, take the M2 and don't take the M240i. So my opinion is: Don't take the M240i if you don't take at least 1 of these options; convertible or xdrive.

In the UK, the M240i is only RWD.

The 2 series are much sharper, lighter and just overall better to drive than the C43 and even the C63. However, Mercedes have much better sounds, interior quality is better, interior design is also better. Aside from just the drive alone, the BMW is quite outdated inside. This should compete with the Mercedes A series but Mercedes has much better interior.
