@@802Garage I've slimmed it down to just the 280zx and a 240sx that's next in line after I finish up the LS 280zx 👌 but at one point it was, two 280zx's, a miata, a Lexus RC 350, and a Saturn Ion Redline 🤷♂️ What about you?

I was asking about a mod similar to this on the Zcar forum a while back. I have 2 ZX's and wanted to buy a TTop version because I have the complete drive train for an 82 turbo 5 speed, but needed the suspension. Nobody seem to know what would fit, now I find your video. Only thing I'd have to do different is to fab up the lower control arms for that project. What engine are you going with?

That sounds sick and I fully support your vision!! This is my second zx but the first one I'm fully modifying / building. I watched a few guys start the process to convert 240sx coilovers to fit the zx but they kinda stopped posting mid way through (assuming they ran into issues 🤷♂️). I'm working on getting a 5.3L engine out of a 2002 Yukon to stuff in the Datsun but it's being difficult at the moment (rounded and rusted bolts in hard to reach places). I might end up boxing in the lower control arms or building some later down the road if they become the weak link.

So with the front coil overs you adapted s13 spindles too ? And everything still mates up to the stock 280zx suspension. Other guys coil over videos show them welding the tube to the spindles but yours looks like you just thread it on

Do the rear ones just bolt in? With the exception of drilling new holes of course

Yep, it all bolts up after drilling the two new holes for the top side 👌

It actually came out pretty square from what I can tell. I’m sure after I start driving it I’ll have to get a gnarly alignment but that’s to be expected when you install coilovers on any vehicle

How were the maxpeeding coilovers? Are they still working? Looking for a cheap set.

Haven't driven it yet 🤦♂️ but I would recommend buying better coilovers just because all the work and modifications needed to make them work 👍

Next time lay a torch in that bushing, and burn it out. Takes 6 minutes. Then come back and give it a tap, and all that crap falls out.

@@likablemichael Hey Michael, DFW area LOL really!!??? Lived there as well more than 14 yrs bro! Where exactly are ya? Used to live in a little town called Keene near Cleburne area back in the 80's. Then rented an apartment with my new wife right near Hulen Mall, then finally bought our first home in Arlington right off of Green Oaks Blvd and Collins, near that little airport. Moved here in San Diego, where my wife is from, back in 2007 (I had to live up to the end of my deal with the wifey, lol) I hope you got through okay with all that winter challenge you guys had. Great job on your car man! Am learning something for sure! Yeah, trying to get my '82 ZX workin' again. Just put in a new engine last week, new tranny, 5 on the floor, centerline wheels, gotta do the breaks etc. etc. and am now trying to figure out how the hell all these other parts, bolts 'n screws go back in HA HA HA, got a boxful of 'em! Also the box of new bushing arrived the other day (same box you showed) so . . . lots of work ahead too but it's FUN!!!

@@likablemichael Wow, what a small world. Had 3 of my nephews go to UTA! Ya man, went to NAPA the other day to get an oil filter for the ZX. The teller with a big smile jokingly asked if I wanted to get rid of ma car! lol Ok Michael, have fun with your build and I'll be watching for any new videos from you. Man don't know if I can pull all what you did in replacing the bushings and then the coilover!
