First of all THANK YOU to all who watch and enjoy the Moe Norman videos. So happy I was able to share that with you all. Now down to business. From time to time and much too often I read a comment on one of the videos that says something to the effect of "If More was the greatest player EVER how come he could not win a PGA event?" Let's set the record straight. Others, in fact golf greats DECLARED Moe the greatest striker of the ball ever. Not the MOST EXCITING! What makes the greatest striker of the ball? Perfect pure contact every time. Like the golf robot thing that test clubs and balls. Thats Moe. This video rebuttal is to simply point out the facts. Just the facts. Thanks for watching. Peace.

I love listening to and watching Moe. And like you said, I find his demeanor charming. And I have completely rebuilt my unreliable swing (I could sometimes look like a polished pro and then look like a total schlub) by using Moe’s method. I am striking the ball purer and more consistently than I ever have. Every golfer should watch his swing if not at least to base the foundation of their swing on. I can’t stand as far away from the ball nor as wide as Moe did, but other than that, his swing mechanics are undeniably repeatable and sound! So glad I discovered Moe Norman! Thanks for the video!

You are so welcome. And thank you for watching. I totally agree with what you said. Every golfer should watch Mo Norman‘s swing if not to just have an idea for a foundation upon which to build their own. Your comments are dead on. Thank you so much.

Moe was leading by 3 strokes the final hole of the Saskatchewan Open 1963. He was on the par 4 , eighteenth hole in 2 but hit his putt into the sand trap, below the hole. He takes his wedge, hits the ball to 2 feet makes a bogie and wins by 2 strokes. Asked afterwards why he did that, his answer was, " I just wanted to feel some pressure".😊

I don't think there is a pro golfer today who would take the challenge of performing an exhibition like Moe did many years ago.. Anyone who questions Moe's achievements and accolades attributed to him does not know anything about golf. I have watched many videos of Moe and I'm still amazed at his consistent ball striking ability, balance and humor.

Why had I never heard of Moe Norman? About a month ago I saw a clip on Moe and his golf prowess. His awful treatment by certain PGA officials and an unnamed professional at a PGA tournament about his mannerisms, the clothes he wore, and his teeth, drove him away from the PGA tour, to only Canadian tournaments. I’m amazed at his innate ability to chart his own course. I love listening to him about golf and life. Wisdom was also a gift he was blessed with. While many looked down on him for his afflictions, others saw he was gifted beyond ordinary. I look for everything on him I can find. As one who has afflictions that even family members have preyed on, Mr. Norman is an inspiration to me. I wish I could have had a sit down conversation with him, or been able to have attended a clinic. How great that Titleist bequeathed him with $5000 a month for life, bc he had used their ball throughout his golf career. RIP Mr Norman, you’ve earned a special place in heaven.

Yes Moe had his quirkiness but you can’t argue that he hit the ball more consistently than any other golfer ever! Some of the video audio was sketchy but when the audio was good the sound of the contact is undeniable! I’ve been golfing for 40 years and have been around pros and great amateurs. The sound of pro level contact is very distinctive. Moe’s contact is as good or better than most. If you need evidence, every appearance that he made in the US at a pro tournament, all the top pros gathered around him to watch him hit balls. All of them said that he hit it straighter than anyone they had ever seen. It’s very appropriate that he was called Pipeline Moe! His proof needs no defending Tom. There will always be haters…all of them jealous and insecure.

I have worked on developing Moe's swing for many years. At age 67 and a cancer survivor, your videos are the best imo! The day I witnessed a young man hit drives 350 to 380 yds on a string! Hit raked in ball after ball, and you couldn't blink or you missed his swing. He was Moe with more fire power. Moe made a comment about hitting a ball 400yds. What he meant was, it could be done with his swing. This young man proved it ! He was a joy to watch. I spoke with the young man after, he said he doesn't play! Believe me, if he did he would silence all those doubters about power loss with Moe's swing. He was sothroughout the bag! I amsamsure Moe was smiling!!!

I was lucky enough to see More walk onto the Driving range at the Canadian Open in his street shoes (even those were Foot Joys) and humbly walk over to Vijay Singh and ask to borrow one his clubs (More liked heavy clubs) Mod then walked to an empty hitting bay. Without any hesitation several PGA pros with names like Faldo and Price stopped practicing and stood near Moe and watched his ball flight with awe. They never stopped practicing to watch anyone except Pipeline Moe

You are spot on with your comments on Moe. He was by any standard the greatest balls striker ever seen. Yes, he was different but he was a great human being. I sea him when I was 12, I'm 64 now and I remember that day like if it was yesterday. He was very kind with the kids, but shy and not interested to deal with adults. AND he could hit the ball better than anyone, he didn't hit a bad shot, he was on the target every single time... I swing like him now and I love the way I strike it. Thanks to Tod Graves !

What a great memory! Anyone who was touched by Moe's presence is lucky indeed. He was shy. Fully engaged once he sensed you were "OK" The gentlemen in the background from the host Club never even spoke to him. Not a word. Watched and then walked away like "what's the big deal" LOL I knew what I was seeing. I would not have been there except for a friend and amazing amateur insisted I come even if I had no idea who Moe was, which I didn't. Thank you Darryl Vossler wherever you are.

Nice video. And, you are spot on, Moe never won a PGA event but that doesn't deminish his accomplishments. You didn't mention that he won a ton of Canadian events including 3-times Canadian Amature champion, etc, etc, etc. The PGA is not the sole arbitur of a golfers worthiness and Moe was certainly worthy of praise and emulation. I have purchased the Moe Norman videos from Todd Graves and I have incorporated most of the swing precepts and I hit the ball straight and accurately. I only wish I had discovered Moe Norman when I was a young man just starting out. But, my partner and I won our men's league championship last year, so Moe's swing advice has been valuable to me. Thanks for sharing your videos and your thoughts. Ciao

I too constantly try to swing like Moe and hit it down the middle more than I ever have in my life I have been hooked since my first time at 13 years old with crap clubs beating my buddies and shooting 99. They were UPSET.closest to me was 127 or something like that. But MAN I sliced so bad I had to play for it and got really good at it too. However the thrill of whacking it down the middle 225 to 260 every time works way better for me. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I also like the comment by Lee Trevino who said exactly what you are saying. All professionals said that Moe was the greatest sticker of the game. He sure did. Moe always set up with the ball just a bit farther away and ever so slightly out of reach of the edge of the club. He told me that was to allow for the force of the swing pulling the club slightly outward from centrifugal force. Not much ahead and just enough to compensate. He told me he thinks most players setup TOO CLOSE and create a jamming effect. Moe was so kind that day and answered every question I asked him. Oddly I was the only one asking questions and the other spectators seemed to be quite Godsmacked. LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.

You put Moe in the proper perspective. Moe said he got his swing from Ernest Jones, Angel de la Torre and his son, Manuel de la Torre. He didn't create his swing from nothing. At some point, he got together with Paul Bertholy and shifted from a 'club-head' focus to a more complicated 'position-based' focus. All modern teachers who use positions, mirrors and training aids are the latest version of Bertholy. Ernest Jones's training for teaching that golf was a circular motion and centrifugal force, was to use a pocket knife tied to the end of a handkerchief. After his teaching was denied by PGA in 1950, he taught 3,000 lessons/year, indoors, upstairs in the Spaulding Building. Manuel de la Torre said to be balanced in your grip/stance, swing the club back over your trailing shoulder, then swing forward and finish over your leading shoulder. Like a rifle, if you are square to the target thru the impact zone, then the projectile goes to the target. Manuel said your body will figure out everything necessary like weight shift, etc, "leave the swing alone!" You don't have to be as perfect as Moe. 4 rounds of 63, just 50% of holes with a birdie is 36 Under PAR, which beats the 20-under record for the lowest score, ever, in a MAJOR...

Thank you for posting this. Towards the end you are talking about the people just watching the ball - unfortunately for poor golfers , people have been watching the ball and not the golfer performing the swing for over 100 years, and likely much longer than that. Golfers, whom I believe to be incredibly SELF-centered and self absorbed (most, not all) will never learn.

I think you sell Moe short as far as being able to take care of himself . He drove around by himself between countries . He could hit as good as any but he was a lousy putter .He tells people that . If he got his putter going no doubt he would have won PGA events . Hes my golf hero . I found him when I started golf jumping on you tube I typed " Norman Golf Swing " . Instead of Greg Norman I saw this other older chubby guy ....Moe . And my fascination with him has never ended .

He said he put the club away from the ball when he was young and now probably couldn’t hit it placed behind the ball. I think and a friend of mine discussed he found how to use his motor cortex in the brain. I believe his secret somehow is where he addressed the ball with the club away from the ball.

His secret is the address and tilt which put the club a bit behind the ball. Think of it like he was already turning his body away even when he wasn’t moving. Can’t get lower and slower than on the ground and not moving. With address, the next thing is just to hit the positions and stay in posture and u got it.

The PGA Organization basically ran Moe off because he wasn’t like everyone else, they didn’t want any one on their tour that they thought would be a distraction or a character that didn’t fit their idea of a golfer

It is said that the man hitch hiked to the masters due to lack of money, how many professionals did that due to the love of the game. The man’s mannerisms point towards him being on the autism spectrum although never diagnosed.

that's just the nature of the beast... especially these days where little toxic weenies can hide behind keyboards. you could put up a video about a pretty blue sky and someone would tell you it's not really blue. it's something else... those people suck. moe did not. thank you for the videos... i watch them pretty regular. some of the things he says and the picture he paints (if you listen) will help you. whether you model his swing or not...

The reason Moe Norman didnt go over to the PGA is because they were jerks. No doubt Moe Norman would have won a grand slam three or four times through out his career.

There's a big difference between being the greatest striker of the ball and being the best PLAYER. Moe's greatness at striking the ball was unquestioned, and there is no question that he was treated badly in his attempts at playing the PGA Tour. But other factors contributed to him not being the greatest PLAYER ever. It's not unlike the long-drive champions who are never heard from on tour; they can hit the ball 600 miles, but their game is incomplete. Or a baseball player who is a "5 o'clock hitter" -- great at batting practice, but who can't carry it over into the game. This is not a knock on Moe; just a fact. Did he or did he not have Asperger's? Or was he autistic? How much did his childhood accident affect him? We will never know for sure.

All valid comments. For ME Moe was the greatest teacher EVER. No One EVER gave me a golf tip that turned my game around as much as watching Moe that afternoon and listening to the things he said. He was not trying to make a living as a golf instructor but gave away EVERYTHING for the love of the game. So glad my fellow golf store employee Darrell Vosler INSISTED that I attend the Moe clinic and bring my brand new VHS camcorder. He said I would not regret it and HE WAS RIGHT. Thanks for watching and as Darrell would say "Hit'em, Straight"

You said a lot in this video. I understand your frustration about the negative comments on Moe Norman. You're wasting your time sir. Their will always be people cutting down Moe Norman. They do not understand nor care to anything about him. His head was ran over by a car tire when he was two, and the most accurate description I can say of Moe was that he was socially inept. Their were many people in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's that did not understand nor accept this and their would be many people today also the same. Society does not view kindly on people who are socially inept. Plain and simple as that. Do you think the golf industry cares if Moe Norman could hit the ball dead straight like a machine? - no, they just want to market the game with distance and make money for their shareholders.
