People are forgetting the drop in quality in opponents Ganguly faced vs Dhoni faced Both are great captains and Harsha Bhogle described it accurately "Dhoni was a great peace time captain but Ganguly was the greatest war time captain" A tougher era with worse BCCI politics after the post Azhar era turmoil

@@sidhant.suman05 This shows your knowledge about cricket. Not just Dhoni almost all Indian captains were cool captains and that's why Indian team was scared of playing matches against the giants. Dada was the one and only captain who injected fearlessness in the team and raised the belief of winning matches. Nobody can match Sourav Ganguly and he will remain as the best captain forever. This statement you may like it or not but you should accept it because it is the fact and no one can change it. Then at that time when sourav captained India it was a damn difficult game with very aggressive sides allover. With a single powerplay, single cricket ball, without drs, without corbon coated kookaburra bats and with huge out fields it wasn't easy to tackle cricketing giants like Steve wagh, Lara, Fleming, Grame Smith etc..

Dada was definitely strategic thinker and smart leader. India came to 3 ICC tournaments final in Dada’s capacity. 2000CT-2002CT-2003WC! Teams level were also pretty good at that time. Nowadays only 4 good teams so reaching into semifinal is not a big deal!

People who commented Ganguly vs Dhoni, you guys are comparing Apple vs Orange. Don't forget the quality of opposition teams Sourav faced during his era is unmatchable. During Sourav's era keniya, Zimbabwe also had great team. Now a days quality of opposition team get decreased, so you can't compare different era's captain.

Ganguly has helped structure the influx of fresh new talent in Indian Cricket post 1999 2000 debacle. Some very good bets in Zak, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Kaif, Gaumzi, Dhoni, Irfan, etc. Of Course, they all were talented to sustain with flying colours for India ! 👍👌🏻

Dada built the Indian Cricket team in the true sense. Dhoni,Kohli and now Rohit enhancing. The dominance we see now in this World Cup the journey started with Dada's captaincy in 2000. He will always be remembered as a pioneer who developed the sense of team amongst players

Ganguly 's two main contribution were (1) Ganguly built a team, as before Ganguly India team was known by individuals only. It was never a team. (2) An aggression like Roaring tiger

Ganguly's another contribution is save Indian cricket from 'bewra' shastri and' arrogant Kohli. When he replaced them by Dravid and Rohit everyone criticised him. Now everybody watching result. He made team India again.

Whatever he said about dada is absolutely correct. Players like Kaifu, Yuvi, Viru are hard to find. Dada truly deserves a standing ovation for building a team. Yuvi on point, Kaif on covers. Nowdays we hardly see any permanent fielding positions in indian cricket team.

India may not have won the world cup in dadas captaincy. But he elevated the indian cricket to another level and challenged the peak Australian team. Even Dhonis india could not have defeated Australian team with the likes of Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting, Beaven, Symonds, Shane Warne, Mcgrath, Brett Lee, as minimum

comparing Sourav Ganguly's captaincy with Dhoni's captaincy is just like comparing Sachin Tendulkar with Virat Kohli... Virat is the greatest modern day batsman no doubt and he might go on to break all the records of Sachin Tendulkar as well but still Sachin will be the God of cricket because the centuries he made and the records he created were against the greatest bowlers of all time ... Lilly, Thomson, Alan Donald, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Saqhlain, Shane Warne, Murlitharan, McGrath, Shaun Tait, Joel Garner, Sami, Akhtar, Brett Lee and the list goes on and on and on.... Now if you are wise enough you will be able to apply the analogy in Sourav's case of captaincy and never compare Dhoni and Ganguly ever again.

When Ganguly was captain the other legends were at the peaks of their career...Dhoni was the captain of the winning team who had already tasted the glory of winning or to chase the best team on their own ground....Ganguly took the captaincy after match fi*xing scandal when India was a broken team....So many young players became legends under the captaincy of Ganguly...So don't compare Ganguly with Dhoni as both of them were great at their own place....

Both are great captain. there is no comparison. dhoni made us won 2011 odi wc. ganguly also was close to winning 2003 wc. but that australian team, was invincible. also, 2002 ct, if rain didn't spoil the final, it wd have been India's standalone title. so, both are great captain.

Great thing that happened to India team was reducing Mumbai and south lobby . Remember how we used to lose against Pakistan in Sharjah. Ganguly was the great captain who built the team and thought aggression. Father of modern Indian cricket team. But MS Dhoni was greatest captain ever for winning 2 world cups and his greater contribution as WC and batsman.
