I was on the TOW on abandoned hangars, the kill you saw was actually the 3rd tank probably why the tickets were so close. Ended up with 4 tanks a logi and the TOW MATV. My squad mate was in the spandrel and had 4 tank kills of his own. Even if our tanks couldn't get a kill on their own we had it covered lol.

People usually forget that tanks don’t take any damage when hull down, EXCEPT ONE THING: the barrel of the gun. You can shoot straight at the barrel of gun from your enemy’s tanks if they are looking at you. It is hard to shoot a small spot like that, but when you can, you win that engagement even if they are hull down.

It is more about the big hole in armor for the gun but yeah, turret cheeks can not be penetrated by APFSDS, so the gun mantlet along with some optics ports are the only places where you should aim against a hull down tank.

Atgms that are top attack and the ones that fire the shaped charges down into the top of the turret won't give a s**t if you are hull down...but I'm guessing that you are talking about regular rounds only.

I was in this game and I really didn’t know our tanks were getting smoked that hard. 😅. We were all complaining how the tanks were playing war thunder and not helping us push the middle cap but the infantry and tanks cooked at the end 😂.

I've always found it odd with the tanks why it's one-for-one. Isn't the T-72 trash compared to an Abrams or is there some kind of balance in this game where it's just generic tank vs generic tank?

MBTs in squad share a lot of similarities such as base health (3000), damage, and round penetration, but differ in other ways so as that each tank has some unique advantage/disadvantage. The abrams for example is unique to other tanks in that it has a 6.5 second reload compared to 8 seconds for all others, it has the best reverse speed and generally people agree that it has the best gun handling, its downside is that its engine is very loud and its sabot rounds have slower velocity compared to other MBTs. The T-72 has an advantage with its barrel launched ATGM which makes it a bit better at longer range and hitting helicopters, and it has frag rounds which are better for dealing with infantry compared to HEAT, but it has a lot of disadvantages such as terrible reverse speed, not great turret rotation speed, terrible gun depression, and a very easy to hit ammo rack. So yeah the T-72 is definitely the worse of the two tanks by a good margin unfortunately

Correct but the issue really is damage models. An abram irl would one shot most T-series russian tanks. But russian tanks could just as easily take out an abrams in one shot assuming they dont hit the frontal turret. Basically all tank fights IRL will be 1 shot game over or at least out of the fight, there is footage of this online now. A leapoard tank knocking out t-72s in one shot, but it goes both ways. Really the big thing is target identification, who can spot the enemy first, who hits first, who can survive drones better.

@@Kryptix Any tank can be taken down by 1 shot irl. but when we talk about armor and kinetic energy its more about the range. this is why heavy tanks are suitable in open terrain, because most firefights kicks in on long distances making the extra armor useful. id say T-72s can be easily taken down from 1400-1600m while abrams would be something around 600-800m. A T-80 would be more fair comparison as they are classefied on the same category as the abrams.

The T-72 is not a light tank (and even if it were the T-72 is also heavier than the T-80, and comparatively underpowered). Russian tanks being lighter than western ones has more to do with their small size and autoloader, not a lack of armour.

From a Squad Medic in upgrade training to Support Role specializing in Engineering, I respect tank battles but don’t enjoy them. My perspective of Squad armor drivers in general have very little to do with combined arms and more with 1 to 2 man locked squads and them out playing War Thunder with each other. Maybe just me but my opinion.

Potato field servers are always on and populated, as far as the tank layer, I've only seen it about 4-5 times so not too often, There's also a layer rotation list on their discord.

If you want to play vehicles it is best done with friends. Or just make the vehicle squad yourself and let randoms join the squad before locking it. Potato servers are new player friendly so you are allowed to play vehicles even without experience, but it can require a squad leader that is ok with it.

dont play on potato fields if you want a good armor experience, hop on something like bloodbound or insomnia, join a random armor squad and learn, once you've learn enough to the point you feel the flow of the game and everything you can start gunning when you squadlead armor yourself. DON'T PLAY POTATO FIELDS IF YOU WANT A GOOD ARMOR EXPERIENCE, only play servers with nameclaim

I think he was referring to being able to “lob” the heat rounds to land on the top of the t72 turrets which would penetrate the weak top armour and deal massive damage

its more about the efficiency of Anti-tank missiles and drones rather than the TTs. all tanks are becoming obsolete except for those with solid active protection system.
