In the upper reaches of the Congo River basin, there’s a creature described as a large quadrupedal herbivore with a smooth skin, a long neck and a single tooth. The creature is given the name Mokele-mbembe, the "one who stops the flow of rivers".

Considering all the soft tissue that has been discovered in dinosaur bones, I think it is fair to consider the possibility that these creatures were around far more recently than 'millions of years ago'. If any still exist, the most likely type would be one that spent most of it's time underwater. Do they exist? How would I know...I'm just a guy in the comments section.

I SAW PHOTOGRAPHS OF A TRAIN DERAILMENT IN CENTRAL CONGO BACK AROUND 1920 ..THE CREATURE LOOKED LIKE A TRICERATOPS & THIS PHOTO I SAW IN THE LATE 1970s LONG BEFORE PHOTO EDITING OR PHOTOSHOP AND THE CONGO BASIN IS SAID TO HAVE NOT CHANGED IN THE LAST 100 MILLION YEARS AND IS STILL TODAY TOTALLY UNEXPLORED AND THE FAMOUS TRADER HORN TALKED ABOUT THEM

Wild Speculation The Congo cryptids aren't dinosaurs but unknown pachyderms: a highly derived elephant and a huge rhino. The PNG creature is a huge crocodilian with adaptations for land walking (like longer legs).

thanks for the video, Pinnso. t'was great as always 🙂 I'm sure there are many things on our planet, that we still need to discover but I can't really believe in large cryiptids, living on land or in lakes, without getting caught and put into a museum/zoo. but I'm sure the depth of the ocean still have a lot to offer.

So many people from tribes there have seen this animal and describe him exactly as a (relatively small) sauropod/brachiosaur. Or -as mentioned in the video- plesiosaurus. Although I believe all eye witnesses have described the beast as having 4 feet (despite spending most time in the water). The animal could be nocturnal, like hippos spend his life submerged in swamps/lakes. And these jungles in central Africa are so large. Most of us don't understand. Some of those actual lakes are bigger than entire provinces in my country. And the jungles are so vast, foggy and uninhabited... it could very well be true. Most people from the tribes that describe the creature have never heard of dinosaurs. For decades the people have been avoiding the beast and when explorers tell them it's a dino that has been extinct for millions of years, they instantly correct the 'experts' and tell them that it still lives in the swamps. Locals from Both the Congo's, Cameroon, Kenya, Angola, Central African rep. and even Uganda. That are all within the deep and vast african Jungle region and is an area as wide as from New York to South Dakota and long as the Canadian border down to Louisiana. Or From France all the way to Ukraine, and Northern Germany down to central Italy. Lake Victoria in the middle of the Ugandan-jungle is actually as large as the state of Indiana. It has a shoreline of over 7000 KM /4,5 thousand miles!! The lake is the largest tropical lake and second largest overall in the world. It lies in 3 countries and also has many islands (not inhabited or urbanized. No infrastructure etc.). Then there's the Congo-River that flows trough all these jungle-countries; the 2nd largest river in Africa, after the Nile. The country that's named most in relation to this specific creature is The Republic of Congo (not to be confused with it's neighbor of similar name). This is a country with a population in 2021 of just over 5 million people! Central African Republic has even less people. Tho there are 80 different ethnic groups, each with their own language! We also have to take in consideration that most of these people live completely different lives than we in the west do. These are some of the poorest countries with instable governments and infrastructure, tribal conflicts and lifestyle. With many of the resources we think to be 'basic' things, not even available or they simply don't need them. When you live in a village without (stable) electricity or flowing water, with a bit of life-stock and a home made from wood from the surrounding trees, your concern is about nature not destroying your family's shelter, food-supply and animals. Nobody steeling them or militias attacking your village. No jungle-predators that kill your goats or chicken. Where to get fresh water and then maybe - if all goes well - try to sell/trade something and make a little money to be able to buy food, tools, medication, clothes etc. 50% of the population being illiterate is still a reality. Taking all this into account (and many other factors of influence I haven't even mentioned or aren't even aware of).... I do believe there is an undiscovered animal as described. Maybe it's not a fully grown brachiosaurus of 25m tall, but there are still many new species that get discovered today. Even Isopods and the Coelocant have been discovered while previously we were taught it has died 66 million years ago. These animals were around when dino's were living and they still live today. Just like crocodiles. So many locals speaking of this creature for decades and decades (yet not trying to make money off of it or providing tours. The contrary: they advise to not go looking for it). Most without even knowing/realizing how much of a worldwide shock this would be if confirmed. Even some european expeditions that went looking have had scientist that confirmed seeing the animal, yet due to humidity, fog and lack of sufficient light (or equipment to create it on location) had them failing at getting a (clear) picture or footage. I agree that if this story came out of Australia or China, where almost everyone is educated, constantly online trough their smartphone with quality camera. Developped countries with their entire territory mapped and made accessible with modern infrastructure. And millions of tourists coming in every year.... then I would consider it very unlikely. But exactly in these remote area's. With enormous area's of untouched nature and nothing to disturb the wildlife and ecosystems for many many sqaure-miles. With many different groups/rebels/militias/political change/tribes that cause a country to have many regions within it's own borders that are controlled by different (conflicting) groups. There is no focus on some animal deep in the lakes or caves. No interest to spend weeks of hiking, taking risks, rantioning, carrying extra betteries, tents, water and food besides all the camera's, weapons for protection, medication for poisonous bites, and climbing/diving gear to reach an area as big as several countries and go looking for a highly agressive animal just to see it. It has no purpose for them

@@Anthony_Gxhi. I’m a bit late here but wanted to thank you for your reply. I’m not very well studied, I just knew the Congo region was “big” lol. Your description really enlightened me on just how big it really is. I believe, like you, that these people living there have no reason to lie to anyone. It would be like you coming to my home in Michigan and me telling you watch out for deer when driving to town. Anyway, I’m rambling. I’m old, that’s what we do lol. Thanks again for the perspective. Take care

If some of these prehistoric animals did survive all of the extinction level threats the earth has seen, places like the deep jungles of the Congo and Amazon would be the perfect places for them to have hid.

Thank you for the video! It was wonderful, as always! I don’t know that I believe that a dinosaur survived all the extinctions and climate changes Earth has experienced since they were wiped out, I think the Congo would be a good place for one to hide out, if a species had managed to survive. It’s certainly something interesting to think about! :D

While I admit that the idea of a dinosaur species still in it's original form surviving into the modern day sounds unlikely... if there's ANYWHERE on Earth that might host such a thing, it's the Congo. Also, you should totally do one on these creature's flying equivalents around the world, such as the Kongamoto.

"it is possible that" Translation: "It is all but 100% certain that these 'dinosaur' sightings are just a bunch of hooey, as how can you have a massive dinosaur traveling around but are unable to find any evidence for them, such as footprints, skeletal remains, bite marks, etc?"
