I think Tommy Emmanuel’s is thrilled to find someone he can play with so well, that knows aaaaall the technical language he doesn’t know. As you well know, he’s self taught and learns, composes and teaches by ear, like Tim Minchin and Lisa Gerrard. At some point Tommy Emmanuel and Lisa Gerrard sought a teacher to teach them how to read music, and to take their musical ability higher, only to be told “there’s nothing I can teach you, and there’s nothing that reading music would add to your life.” Tim Minchin did go through a tertiary arts course in Perth after being self taught, and came out still without any music reading ability at all. He orchestrates by playing/recording different parts for different instruments on a synth. Back to Tommy, I get the feeling he’s learned and continues to learn a heap of technical stuff from Molly. From the technical terms for things he already accomplished himself, to some practical techniques he never was taught, and skipped over when developing his own methods of reproducing sounds.

The reason Tommy loves her is that she is a great song writer. Her albums are original music. White Freightliner is hers. Crooked Tree is hers. Bela Fleck thinks she is great. She is the next generation of acoustic music.

2 Grammys in the past 2 years (the latest one two weeks ago), two time Int'l Bluegrass Music Assoc guitarist of the year back to back in 2017 and 2018 (and the first woman to win that award), two best selling albums in the last 2 years, master at the claw hammer and all picking techniques. She's not up and coming. She's arrived and is in the pantheon at the ripe old age of 31.

I feel like this is an unclear diss towards me? I’m not sure why. I guess the insinuation is that maybe I’m stupid for not knowing the winner of such and such awards? If so get ready for more disappointment cause I don’t know of anyone who ever won any of those awards. Or maybe you mean she doesn’t need my accolades? That’s fair enough but you’re the one who clicked on the video already knowing what she sounded like, so that would be on you not me. That can’t be it. I don’t know maybe you’re being nice? I don’t know….but your emoji doesn’t look happy. 😂

@@michaelgoyettemusic You’re not stupid. It just seemed you did some early judgement on the video. Maybe before doing your reaction, you could do some basic research on an artist you are not familiar with…I understand the pedestal that you have put TE on. He is an amazingly great guitarist. I’d suggest taking a look at some recent collaborations available on KZfaq for a very recent album. They include Molly and him doing White Freightliner among the collaborations. Seems to me he is a very generous performer

@@billbitterman9487 I was using playful language….it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know she was gonna be good….. If I do research it’ll effect how I hear it and create expectations. Blind listens are more honest. It’s not a pedestal that I’ve put TE on….the one thing he does best is the one man band schtick and he doesn’t do that schtick when playing with others….it’s like seeing your favorite singer sing back up….it’s better than nothing but it kinda makes you want to hear that singer sing lead. Ya know?

You are better than this Mike Who is this woman taking up space that should be reserved for the maestro? (would you have said that about a man?) She looks like that actress in the spiderman movie (Would you have commented on a guys looks?) After playing for 20 secs 'She is not very good, all her playing is at the top of the neck' Eventually realises that she has skills you haven't got and gives her a grudging acknowledgement. I appreciate that this an unseen reaction but man that was sad to see, Molly Tuttle was the first woman to win Blue Grass Guitarist of the Year and has won Two Grammys

Yes I absolutely would have said that about anyone playing with Tommy Emanuel…..I said something to the same effect when he played with Mike Dawes who is also brilliant….and I would’ve said that about anybody playing first position for a whole pass….I didn’t know she was bluegrass until I’d heard her for a few minutes and then I gave her accolades…..don’t push shit that isn’t there.

@@michaelgoyettemusic kevin2961 sort of has a point. Perhaps it’s best to reserve judgement until there is more there to judge. Tommy doesn’t just share significant stage time with pedestrian musicians. If you paid attention, he was clearly keeping focus on Molly’s skills and talent. Deferring to her several times during the interview. That was a sure sign of respect
