Kids shouldn’t be involved in helping their parents do THEIR job. If you’re going to treat your kids like employees, go all the way and pay them. Should kids learn responsibility? Yes. They can do that by helping run the home and then later going out to earn their own money. But as the parent of kids under 18, it’s your responsibility to go to work and do your job. Kids aren’t responsible for helping pay your bills. Your child’s job is getting an education and doing well at school.

All the people in the comments dissing the strict parents just goes to show how parenting has fallen in time. Your parents are not your friends and they are supposed to teach you to be responsible, respectful, and considerate of others. How many of you have taken advantage of/are taking advantage of your hardworking parents?

and the best way to teach is by showing. so to have responsible, respectful, considerate children you have to be all of those things to your kids and others. demanding respect when you do not show it will not result in respectful kids. to teach is to set an example

I absolutely LOVE this mother. No nonsense. She wasn't having any of it. I, however, would not have taken rebellious teens into my house with my own children there. When that girl cursed her out in front of her daughter, I was done. Why traumatize the child? How do you think it made the little girl feel having somebody yell at her mother like that? Don't get me wrong, Mama could handle herself. She went toe to toe with the teenager, however, the children having to see and hear this is something that I don't think should have been allowed.
