Well, I'm watching this on April 20, 2024 - long after you published. It's beginning of Fall in Brazil- which where I live in the Southeastern region, is like a second Spring...with less Rain! Loved the large colorful painting piece you did last! Thank you for the demo. ❤

Has anyone tried butter just for giggles? Anyone that is having problems with oil transfer after a few days….. try laying your paper between paper towels and stack a weight on top. And use less oil! You really don’t need a lot! Also, if using it in a junk journal, cut parchment paper to journal page size, times 2. Lay one on top and other on bottom, of oiled paper. Then place it in your signature. It’s protects the other pages and it gives you pages to put stickers on and can be removed by ripping them out later down the road.

I am sure any kind of oil based product would work...great tip about the parchment paper!

Hello. Just found your channel. I’ve been crumpling paper for collage for a while, but had no idea about using oil or lotion! Can’t wait to try it. Hope you are well. Happy Holidays. :)

Hi Charla...the oil method is a bit messy...I would use the lotion. It does not soften the paper quite as much but is easier to use when finished...happy holidays to you too!

Hi, I’m a new subscriber and I’ve been scrunching paper today with Aveeno lotion! I was using Japanese wrapping paper and it turned out very good. I am getting a few tears so I think I need to be more gentle! Tomorrow I’m planning on trying collaged papers as I want to put a book together! Thanks for a great video xxx💕

Hi At Susie's Cottage. Thanks for subbing! Glad to hear you wrapping paper turned out very good. Should be great with collaged papers...maybe a little more kneading needed. Have fun!

Thanks for your video. Your work is lovely. I had a doctor tell me that whatever you get on your skin is into your blood stream in 26 seconds. So I only use natural things and avoid chemicals.

Nice tutorial. I tried this a couple months ago (don't remember where I saw it). I really like your last piece with the colors. Very pretty on it's own. I used a lotion with coconut oil so my paper smells yummy. I used cardstock and it came out really soft and feels like fabric. I think the cardstock got more tears and holes because the paper isn't as flexible as copy paper at the beginning as you start scrunching.

Hi Donna...so glad you got good results..I bet it smells wonderful! Yes, I think you are probably right about the cardstock not being as pliable..Take care Donna..hope to hear from you again🙂

I watched your video on making Momigami paper using olive oil, saw this one using lotion. I like your idea of using lotion. I haven't tried this technique at all, but I plan on giving it a try with piece of scrapbook paper. I think I'll rip the paper in half and try lotion on one half and olive oil on the other. Then I think I'll try using coconut oil. This could be a fun project trying out different products on paper. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Jill..the oil breaks down the paper better but it takes forever to dry, while the lotion does not work quite as well but is less messy and more useable...have fun!

First time visit. Referred by Kat Kirby, who has tried this. In Arizona, USA. Want to try it with lotion. Love the idea of scented lotion. Did the lavender scent stay od did the modpodge smell take it away?

Hi Victoria and thank you. I think cardstock might be too thick. Best to stick with thinner papers I think but I would give it go and see what you get. You will have to let me know if you decide to try.

Hiya there, I'm having a go, but so far I'm not do happy with results, definitely feels like fabric but looks horrible lol. Id never use it in a projects Instead of magazines I'm going to use better papers with patterns i like. Ill give the lotion a go too, I haven't any lavender which sounds amazing but bergamot will be lovely. Big smiles Australia 🙃❤️🦘

Hello Tree Maiden, you mentioned applying Mod Pog. Was that before or after you did the kneading process? That was about at 6 minutes. Thanks for your post and sharing.

Hi Brenda...I haven't used them on a collage yet but I should think a good strong glue like Aleene's Tacky Glue would work or even double sided tape....Thanks for viewing.

I did it with oil and it’s been three weeks and it is still leaving oil marks on everything it touches. So that’s a bust Then I tried it with the tapioca starch and it did not work either. My concern with this lotion method as well as the oil method is a great concern that it will eventually turn rancid. We’ve all had oil go rancid, or lotion go rancid, and I certainly don’t want that in my journal Do you have any input to that?
@treemaidenart
@treemaidenart Жыл бұрын
I always finish my pieces with a varnish or some other finish...that way the air does not get at it and it stays fresh for a long time. You might try that and yes the oil is oily so I use much less now. The lotion on its own will last a couple years and with the varnish it lasts many more. It is an old technique that has been around for hundreds of years.

Great video. I've tried it with coconut oil but they haven't dried out yet. I think I have a bottle of glycerine so I'm going to try that. I've tried it on copy paper. book page and magazine so far. I might try parchment paper next. I scrunch it for longer and you do get more tares but it really softens the pages.

Thanks so much Electric Hen. Yes with the oil it takes a long time to dry and even then needs to have some of the oil dabbed off. Does make a nice soft result though. I find the lotion does not soften the paper as well but is less messy. You will have to let me know how it turns out with the parchment paper..Ciao
