I remove the leaves from the stem. I also wash them like I mean it. It helps to tenderize them too. I like to mix them ( collards, spinach, mustard, kale) I like the flavors to mingle. Everyone makes them differently.. I make them differently depending on what seasoning I have on hand. I've used broth and bouillon cubes and they're still delicious. I could drink the pot liquor by itself.. and have! Thanks for sharing this with us.💖

Yummy. I'm not southern, but I love southern food. My step grandfather was half oakie half arkie, and he loved cornbread with buttermilk on it. I learned to love it that way too. When I make beans and ham or collards and ham, I put the top half of the cornbread in my bowl and eat the crunchy bottom half with butter and honey. Scrumptious. I enjoy your Mom's cooking videos. Thanks for sharing.

I love momma Joyce’s precious giggles. She makes me think of my sweet precious momma. Momma had that same precious giggle whenever she talked. Momma cooked just like her. Wished I had knew about this cooking show way before now. But I will definitely continue watching momma Joyce’s precious videos. Thank you so much for sharing her sweet videos ❤

This is a great tasting recipe & video. Moma sure knew how to cook. I grew up eating this. But sadly my mom and older sisters passed away before I could get any of these recipes. I was at my local Cracker Barrel about two weeks before MoMA first posted this video. I found Collard Greens on their menu. They did not taste bad at all. But they did not taste as I remembered them as a kid. It was not more than two weeks later Marshall posted this video. I sent the video to my cell phone & saved it. The next Sunday I got up early and went to Walmarts and got the greens and meat and also a slab of bacon. I cooked these just like MoMA did. They were the best ever. I fried the bacon and made cornbread. along with caned great northern beans and it was the best meal I had since was an adult. If KZfaqrs have not tried this recipe. You don't know what you are missing. I have cooked this twice since then it is great. Marshall, I truly hope you know how Blessed and Lucky you and your siblings were to have your mom with you into your middle-aged adult life. Always keep & treasure your mom's recipes and the lessons she taught you. I was so foolish not to get my mom's recipes. My sisters grabbed them and passed them onto their kids. I truly missed out. Awesome great video. Moma will be missed by me for sure.

I wanted collard greens today so I went back to the store and grabbed some and came home and looked at her video one more time before I threw them into my pot. The only other thing that I do most often is use smoked bacon, I add in a heaping tablespoon of better than bouillon into the water and then I add salt pepper and sugar according to taste. Her way of preparing them is just what I like to do. Sure miss her little giggle on here and her Bible verses!!!!

I don’t know that I’ve ever eaten collard greens but I love to cook and eat turnip greens. When my greens are done, I like to break several eggs into the pot and let them cook until done. I guess you would call them poached. Anyway, they are so good when cooked in that “pot liquor”. I’m really enjoying watching your videos. Y’all keep up the good work 👏
