Welcome to Episode 16 of Monday Gunday, a series of gun/gear reviews by the team here at Tier 1 Concealed. We will be reviewing new and popular guns twice a month and scoring them according to our 10-category scoring system, worth a total of 100 points (10 points each). We will score:
Cost
Ergonomics
Trigger
Bore Axis
Sights
Aftermarket Support
Round Capacity
Serviceability
Value
Cool Factor
We will also perform some common shooting standards with each gun, such as the Bill Drill at 7 yards, a 3-reload-3 at 7 yards, and a 10 yard B8 test.
Be sure to subscribe and follow along for more reviews!

The 4.25 is awesome in my opinion. It's my first 1911/2011 and I like it. It's been great so far and now just flows no hang or nothing. Until it falls apart it is a favorite of mine so far. Great review

It's a "double stack 1911" because Staccato owns the trademark to "2011." Grip modules are still interchangeable.

It's a 2011....screw staccato or sti or whoever and thier "trademark" A double stack 1911 does not have a grip module. It is one piece milled down with a grip. So get your definitions right. An example would be the platypus or rock island double stack 1911's.

The differences between a 1911 and 2011 is the 2011 moniker is trademarked so Springfield and other manufacturer's can't use the "2011" name so they go with 1911 DS.

Fairly certain that not only Staccato owns “2011” but they also have 3 main parts. Grip, frame , and slide. The 1911 only has the frame and slide.

All I know, is that some of these run, and some of these end up needing 500-1000 in work. I personally would just go with BUL or Staccato.

i ended up sending mine back into springfield for repairs, but i kind of knew that going in so i wasn't terribly pissed. got it back and it's been good. shouldn't have had to send it in, but at least it's a known quantity now.

I took mine out yesterday for the first time. Did 250 rds. 100 rds of factory, 100 rds of 125 gr reloads that clock around 1000fps, and 50 rds of 115 gr reloads at 1200 fps. I had one ftf on the first magazine and it was a reload. After that it performed flawlessly through all the rest. It’s a good gun if you take some time to clean it real well and break it in cycling the slide prior to firing to smooth it out a little.

I have the 4.25 inch model. It's been really good for me. I've got about 1500 rounds on it and until today I'd only had 3 failures. It stopped wanting to feed hollow points today, so I have to figure out what's going on. May just need cleaning. Could be mag related. Idk. But I'm still very happy with it for it's price point.

If you are running the factory mags then that could very well be. I had the same issue until I started using Atlas mags. There is also an upgrade kit for the Duramags from Wheaton. Made a significant difference.

Cool video (pun intended)! Although I don’t have a Prodigy, I also think it’s a good value. If you’re a Veteran or LEO, the Firstline guns come with 3 mags at a very reasonable price (under $1,300).

I have a prodigy 5" and an Atlas Chaos 2.0 and Athena, so I've shot "budget" 1911DS and "high end" 1911DS, neither are without faults. However I can say that I have a lot more fun shooting the Prodigy than both Atlas's as they are just to predictable and no real challenge to shoot.

Maybe you where pressing the safety up a little on your reloads? If you ride the safety the whole time you can prevent issues with accidentally engaging it.

2011 is a trademark of staccato. There’s no torn on it, staccato formerly STI owns the rights. Everything non staccato has to be called a double stack 1911 or go the Turkish way of calling it a 2311.

I like your format on testing guns except some of the guns tested had only irons and some with red dots. They are not the same and your scoring reflected that. Example the Walther PDP was tested without a red dot and it is gun specifically developed for red dot use. Guns should be ranked with irons vs red dots. Just my opinion which doesn't matter because its your channel. I just wish the testing of the guns would have been done comparing shooting each gun comparing them with iron sights versus red dots.
@Tier1Concealed
@Tier1Concealed 7 ай бұрын
We totally agree! The Prodigy was an exception because it came with the optic from the factory. We had a few others in there with optics that we wanted to review but didn't want to remove the dot. We tried to account for those situations in the scoring. At the end of the day, these scores are all very subjective unfortunately. We appreciate you watching anyways!!
