It's like any other self-help book. Treat it as a buffet. Take the parts that are useful to you and don't take the parts that are not. It's definitely written from his perspective in sales and real estate. That's not my background, either.

Thank you for defending people who use their connections. There's so much bitterness toward people who are doing well who had help from parents or from famous family members. It's very much a turnoff when people have that level of unexamined envy.

I really like how you articulate your thoughts. It's giving me a lot of ideas about how to talk about my own opinions in the future. I've had conflicts with previous partners because of different money mindsets and how we see the world. I agree that it's really based off of your personal life experiences. I have, however seen a lot of self sabotaging mindsets in people who grow up with less money. It's a difficult thing to combat, because they're not "wrong." However, if you're still early in your career/life and you've already told yourself that you're never going to retire, then that's a good way to ensure that you definitely won't. I don't understand this mindset. I'd rather at least try, despite all of the hurtles in today's world.

I do think people generalise excessively and thinking money is inherently evil has harmed friends of mine in their attitude to their own lives. However, i do think a little bit of guilting rich ppl into donating to charities instead of buying yachts, and heavy taxation above a certain high income, is necessary for our societies to progress and become more harmonious and happier.

Thank you for articulating the way we are harmed by internalizing the "rich=evil" attitude! Hearing that so much in early adulthood, as one becomes politically aware and active, i really felt conflicted or ashamed every time i started to get my life on track - not because i personally thought ill of wealthy people, but because i feared i would be selfish and evil and blamable if i did anything more than scrape by. I've continued never aiming for more than entry-level unskilled jobs and periodically blowing everything and starting from scratch. It also kept me from admitting i wanted anything, contributing to occasional spirals of anhedonia and depression. Now that i'm finally in a serious relationship and we're looking at building a future, i'm suddenly realizing how i've hamstrung myself out of fear of getting what i think i don't deserve and being hated for it.

Your video left me stunned and introspective, helping me identify the obstacles that have been holding me back. I've come to realize that I've become someone who often takes without giving partly due to my low self esteem, which makes me feel unworthy of success and wealth. As a result, I frequently do things without charging and even feel guilty when I consider monetize them. Thank you so much for this video.

For charity I HIGHLY recommend ‘giving what we can’ as they focus on some go the most effective charities for your dollar (eg. Investing in preventative measures such as malaria nets and childhood vaccination). Even though I make under the average income knowing my dollar translates into so much tangible good is just incredible.

This video was incredibly helpful, thank you so much! If I may ask, would you consider making a video for people who have never received one on one therapy before and how they can prepare themselves to go into their first therapy session with the right mindset and realistic expectations that can help set them up for success? I feel like there are so many qualified therapists to choose from but many people I’ve spoken to who have received counseling express a surprising amount of disappointment from their time in therapy and I often wonder why that is. It makes me wonder if there are any pitfalls that people may not realize they can fall into when receiving counseling that can diminish their overall perception of therapy? For example: venting vs having a conversation , taking on a listening role rather than a more dynamic role when interacting with their therapist… I’d love to know if this is something you’ve covered before or if you’d consider making a video to address some common pitfalls and some preemptive measures people can take to avoid these? BONUS: knowing how to recognize when it might be right to end your time with a therapist and seek out a different one that may be a better fit? Sorry for the lengthy read, but thank you so much for all that you do to encourage and inform people with your content! 🙏🏽

I have trauma from money because my parents always complained about it and then stopped working and I had to take care of my family. They guilted me, put me down, and made me miserable when I tried to set a boundary to say I could no longer support them. Now, I struggle with keeping it because yeah I was made to feel selfish if I had it.

Interesting video. I'd like to see a video about your entrepeneurship journey. Lessons like the "list" thing, or some bits you mentioned like the "value/worth" things were insightful. I personally ask bc i'm interested in that world but i do struggle with "knowing my worth", so if you covered how you dealt with that in your personal journey (both dealing with being "undervalued" and "overvaluing yourself") Maybe for the video to make sense within the context of your channel it could be themed around the "psychology entrepeneur" figure in some way, "entrepenurial lessons from my psychology practice", something like that. I think that's the "frame" that makes more sense but lessons from all aspects, online business, courses, books, practice, editing books, etc, all are interesting to me personally

Deep Desire + Faith + Perseverance + luck. More like A deep desire to not be where one is, fear motivating the action to get out from that place you don’t want to be, with laser focus to get what you want. It’s not always the peace and love positive vibes that get you to a higher ground. Fear is a much stronger motivator as long as it doesn’t cause you to freeze in your tracks. And having faith is something working out is not as strong as flat out saying to yourself that it will work out because there is no plan B. That’s not faith, that’s brute force determination.

@AnaPsychology6 ай бұрын
Without faith (in the secular sense), life would be a pretty scary place. People have faith every time they get into a car that they'll get to their destination safely, despite the high vehicular accident rate. Or faith that their loved ones have their best interests at heart. Or faith that they can pass a test they studied for. I'm not a big fan of blind faith, or trusting in something just because someone told you it's true, but measured faith is crucial.
