If anyone is wondering: "Each row in the top panel represents the neural activity recorded from one electrode. The top 100 electrodes with the strongest upward preferred directions are shown in blue, and the 100 electrodes with the strongest downward preferred directions are shown in red. Brighter colors indicate higher firing rates. In the bottom trace, the yellow line indicates the vertical velocity of the MindPong paddle that results from the decoded neural activity in the top panel."

@@QuietSquirrelClips what is happening is essentially we are creating a computer which can add another layer/interface to our living self. This simply means we have our brain which handles the cognition and our body which handles the responses, what this adds is another computational layer which would resolve many brain issues in case the biological frameworks malfunctions and also possibly in the future enhance them to super human or even better possibilities. This is a very broad simplistic explanation but it’s much deeper.

As impressive as it is, I'd like to point out that its still using 200+ neurons for up and down movement, and it still glitches a bit when it comes to switching from one direction to the other causing the monkey to miss a few balls. Improvements will need to be made to control all keys on a keyboard with a speed faster than typing with fingers.

@@test-zg4hv people already house train monkeys, the problem is that their motor functions aren’t built for what we see as simple tasks and that leads them to struggle, and struggling makes them see less value in attempting when a human could do it 100x more accurately and 10x faster. The only reason I wouldn't immediately volunteer for human trials is, someone else could benefit from this way more than me, being a healthy and fully intact person. The minute this technology is publicly available for any willing person I'm getting my checkbook! Amazing work Nueralink team. Your research is going to improve so many lives, and then revolutionize the way humanity interacts with digital systems.

I have soooo many questions! Like: How addicted is he?(Knowing he gets food while playing.) What happens when the pong sides are switched? How long does it take until he realize it? What when the paddle color is changed? What when two balls are used? How does he react when balls appear left and move in a straight line to the right? Is he able to learn a second (easy) game? When yes: What happens when its switched back to pong? Is he able to teach a non trained other ape? Is his counterpart a human or a software which should make some mistakes? Does he react differently when his counterpart makes a mistake? Which experiments are planed or made to override his mind? Dreams he (about pong)? Are his neurons firing while he is asleep that are indicating he dreams about pong? And: Can he say "No!" and fire an AK-47? ;-)

@@v.gedace1519 I think its this one, www.researchgate.net/publication/8931351_Pavlovian_conditioning_The_CS-UR_relation I've seen these a long time ago sorry, i directed you here because he experimented teatching dogs and other animals stuff, probably the same way neuralink team teatched the monkey to use the joystick, basically, like we train dogs to sit on command, he does what we want, we give him a reward, in the case of animals, usually food, so if they trainend the monkey with different colors of pong but still give him the reward everytime he scores, it should not matter the pong colors, thats just an example, hes reward is the banana smoothie lol
