They are implanting Computer Chips on the skull and the small wires enter few millimeters into the brain with minimal effect to the brain. Using this scientist/researchers can better understand the brain and Consciousness. The chip will also help disable humans to control computers without moving and later versions of the chip will allow the general population to control all the electronic devices with our brains and possibly even enhancing our intelligence, which would result to next stage of the evolution.

Some day I wanna work on a project like that. Though what I'd like to do specifically is work on the problem of brain digitization. I'm not a neuroscientist though (studying computer science currently). But my theory on how brain digitization would work is basically just replace one neuron at a time with a biomimetic neuron, and then replace all the neighbours to that neuron with biomimetic neurons before replacing the initial biomimetic neuron with a software neuron in an artificial neural network (basically use the biomimetic neurons to make a direct neuron to computer interface). I think doing it this way is probably the only way to digitize the mind of an individual without making a copy. Basically, replace the hardware (the brain) that the software (the mind) is running on, without ever disrupting the process (or with minor, recoverable disruptions), so that you don't create a new instance of the "software". I know NeuraLink isn't about brain digitization, but you'd need to go about brain digitization in a similar way (using a robot to physically swap out organic neurons with synthetic neurons and such, as opposed to using it to precisely implant wires). I imagine that may be a future "next step" for this technology. I hope I can be a part of making it happen some day, but if not, then I hope it'll happen within my lifetime (I wanna be a robot fox :p).

The human brain is infinitely more advanced in memory capability, computing and so on than even the most advanced computer concepts we think of producing in the near future. I think it's expecting a lot for this technology to tap into that and expand that in a significantly inferior form. Nerve control is nothing like memory and computing in the brain. The step between the two is lightyears. Elon was being high optimistic and futuristic talking about "possible" applications down the line lol. Unfortunately the layperson doesn't understand the gravity of difference between the two concepts. We are only now barely barely being able to grasp just how advanced our brain function really is, think 11 dimensional geometric computing structures computing with bio photons through water acting as hydro gel(fiber optic "wire") by being vibrated at a certain frequency through being forced through micro pores and almost instantly reforming and collapsing these structures. And that is only the start. Sorry but neuralink ain't doing anything to do with higher memory and computational processes when we haven't even remotely grasped how the brain works yet.

@sleonhart3 жыл бұрын
@@Varcinius there's just so much we still don't understand about the brain and the risks are so high that while there may be some form of full dive VR earlier than that I'd bet it would take a while before the tech gets mature enough to be a mainstream product. This is not like a smartphone, computer or console, there's no room for bugs and security vulnerabilities, so considering the complexity of a machine like in SAO I'm not as optimistic as e.g. quantum computing or other up and coming technology
