OUTSTANDING VIDEO - Shifting too late - Loosen; Shifting too early - Tighten. Never touch the Bulk adjustment after setting warm in park at 35psi. Thanks for your patience and clear explanation for a rooky.

This video has been immensely helpful. When the AOD was put in my Bronco the shop reused the C6 kickdown rod and as a result it has never shifted well. I bought all the parts in your two videos from you and look forward to getting the TV cable installed. Hopefully this is what I need to get this transmission shifting better. If it is still a dog after this I will probably order an AOD from you guys.

BEST instructions ANYWHERE, I just wish they installed the transmissions OR had a trusted company close by that THEY recommend, this TV adjustment I WON'T trust to ANY shop, allot of $$$$ to spend for a slack shop to screw up & THEN blame Monster, how about it guys, NEED your local TRUSTED shop & then I'll DRIVE my 65F100 down for the install

been using a lokar on mine for years. did an engine rebuild and was wanting to check my linkage adjustment . I run a holley, very few run a edelbrock with a ford.

Just wanted to say thanks. Ordered my cable today. Going to Fab my own bracket for the carb. I've got a 77 Thunderbird 351w. The fmx burnt up on me so I ordered a built aod to put in. The builder suggested I run 40-45 psi and maybe up. Not sure but I'm going to see how it goes. It's got a shift kit and a 2200 stall converter.

I've seen MANY clips on HOW to do this, in my opinion this is the BEST DESCRIPTIVE one, I bought the correction arm similar to this one for my Holley carb setup with Lokar cables as these. I pre-installed the Holley Correction arm BEFORE I took the truck to local shop for the AOD installation, after I picked the truck up the transmission was SLAMMING into and out of gear, ( TCI valve body was installed @ the same time ). The idiots @ the shop complained that they couldn't get the setting correct and had even called TCI about issue, LONG story short, after @ home I began looking at the carb setup, they had REMOVED the Holley correction arm, and in my opinion this is what caused the issues. These arms was created to correct the geometry LOST in the FULL movement of the throttle arm from idle to full throttle. Some of those who designed these correction arms will tell you that if you mount these TV cables directly to the arm that as you move throttle from idle to full throttle the cable tension changes therefore NOT maintaining the adjustment. Thankfully in my scenario the TCI folks told the shop that the high pressures created with their valve body the adjustment wasn't that critical, I actually doubt this discussion happened or they told the idiots at the shop this to get rid of them. Thankfully the truck wasn't a daily driver and I have just recently purchased the Locar spacer to readjust the setup correctly.

I have a 55 f100, its been sitting for 6 years, finally gotten it up and running with a newer 302 4brl Edelbrock w/AOD. It's been shifting kinda late, and I've adjusted the cable as advised by this video. I've had it to the tranny shop and they say everything looks fine with it. Could the governor be stuck if it hasn't been run for that long?

ok, I was informed shortly after this post that a transgo shift kit with a high rev gov. kit shifts at 4000rpm and the 3500 stall is for a built engine. so lower gears will be installed

Hello I just installed a factory AOD for a 1966 mustang. After getting all the linkage and brackets for the AOD and the Edelbrock carb installed i ran into carb throttle linkage issues. I have an arm and not cabling. My issue is my throttle arm running from the accelerator pedal into the engine bay has another arm that was connected to the throttle of the carb. Now that the new Lokar carb bracket is installed the upper part of it that would accommodate the throttle cable is now in a position that keeps me from using my original throttle arm. Do you recommend any aftermarket parts that would accommodate my original linkage arm. I am aware of the Lokar pedal and throttle cable that i can use, but at about $300 bucks on top of everything else I feel there is a better option. Thank for any info

what if those procedures are done and it doesn't shift out of first gear? would a 3500 stall and a 345 gear have an effect on it.

I have been setting mine, got my pressure at 34lbs, but when you give it gas it jumps up. which makes sense because when you adjust the adjusting nuts that is what it is doing fine tuning the pressure up or down. So my guess is the car is at a preferred running RPM for normal driving then set the pre-load pressure to 33-38lbs . Because when you gun it pressure goes up and shoots it back into passing gear. AM I right step by step? I noticed my car would go in reverse and drive but held first after following all these instructions on the web, When I put it in D it raised my pressure which made it hold in first, again makes sense being the jump in pressure is what makes it down shift. I lowered it at a higher RPM and now it shift to second. I still have it jacked up getting ready for a test run tomorrow. So I started using my ears as well, everyone I watched they never said hey, we are going to run the RPM up to about 1800 then adjust the preload in neutral to 33-35lbs. Its like a cooking show, tell most of the ingredients but leave a few out.

Why doesn't anyone put the pressures per gear select? In Park how much pressure should you be reading, in Reverse, I got it, in neutral it is 33-38psi. what about Park though, and driving and shifting through gears?

I just overhauled my AOD 1987 Bronco 5.0 re-installed it . Installed a Lokcar TV cable . adjusted the TV pressure per instructions with the little tool at 33psi. Road tested shifts 1,2,3 and overdrive but, when acceling it neutralizes could it be possible that the Torque Converter has failed? like I said I have all 3 gears also I installed a B&M shift kit tuned to heavy-duty/RV .removed the trans and looked at all clutch packs and all hold air pressure. Bands are great . I really need help as I was told this is a possible converter problem . I'm just tired of the R&R on the floor of the shop. so ready to be done with this. Thanks Much.
