I'm from the city of Glasgow, Scotland. When it came out in the theatres. Glasgow was one of the many places to ban it due to what they viewed as blasphemy. Myself and a group of pals walked all the way to a neighbouring town outside the Glasgow boundaries that DIDN'T ban it, and watched it there. As for the spaceship scene, that was for the benefit of the animator, Terry Gilliam because he didn't have any animations to do for the actual movie itself, so they gave him this scene to do.

In the Biggus Dickus scene the guards were actually extras that were just told to stand there and not laugh, but were not told what was going to happen. That was their real reaction.

That's not true. Firstly they were not extras, they were professional respected actors and together played 12 different roles in the film. One of them Bernard McKenna played 4 different roles and was part of the writing team. He's the guy behind Brian on the left. Scene 13 was not done in one take, you can clearly see there are different camera angles called reaction shots, everyone in the scene knew what they were doing and them laughing at the right time was important for the story, it's how Brian gets away.

Examples include "The Cheese Shop," "Crunchy Frog," "The Argument Clinic," "The Lumberjack Song," "Spam," "The Dead Parrot," "The Ministry of Silly Walks," and my very favorite, "The Fish Slapping Dance." The last one is less that 90 seconds, but just thinking about the name of it has me laughing out loud!
@TTM969111 ай бұрын
As I said before: don't watch clips of the show, watch the episodes of the show. Watching the sketches by themselves doesn't give you anything, plus dummies upload the wrong versions of the sketches, half the time they're not the classic sketches from the TV series, but the lame recreations they did for their first movie, where you don't have the live audience which throws off the timing. (Python is embarrassed by that movie, why anyone would use clips from that is beyond me). Watch the TV episodes in full, don't listen to people who tell you to watch just the clips, that's not going to give you anything.

When I'm feeling down in the dumps, all I have to do is put this movie on and my troubles go away. I first saw this movie when it first came out, I think I was 16, and I left with my face hurting and my gut feeling as if I had done a hundred sit-ups. This movie is a marvelous example of how religions get started. 😂🤣The "miracle" of the blind man, who can see, then falling into the hole in the ground still makes me laugh. And both of the Romans having speech impediments is mad hilarious! I used to work in a hospital as a PCT. And one day I had to clean up my first dead patient--alone. I really was okay with it, but you still feel a bit nervous with your first one. And I have seen first time techs, do some strange things to get by. And I was no exception, as I was cleaning him up, I realized that I was quietly singing & whistling the end song from this movie. And I also realized I was singing it to my very dead patient. "So always look on the bright side of Death. Just before you draw your Terminal Breath. Life's a piece of shit When you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true. You'll see it's all a show, Keep 'em laughin' as you go. Just remember that the LAST Laugh is on you." Oh man, I was so lucky his family didn't show up at my musical performance for their family member. But the real strange thing that occurred, while I was singing and whistling, was I thought for sure I saw a smile come onto his face; and both of his feet were moving back and forth to the song. Who says the Dead or Jehovah (wait for the whistle!) don't have a sense of humor? Whoever believes that I only have to say, "Silly Person".

In a deleted scene, the two groups that attempt to each kidnap Pilat's wife, do agree to do it together and later argue over who has claim to her. But when they break in to her room, she's revealed to be eight feet tall and stronger than the whole lot of them (its a man playing her). She escapes in to the hallways, runs around with them chasing her. And then doubles back to her room, locking the door. This leads to the two groups getting in to a fight over it.

When I see people reacting to this movie I always wait for the spaceship scene. The looks of total confusion are hilarious. The spaceship scene does several things at once. First, this came out shortly after Star Wars, so aliens were on people’s minds, and a spoof on that was certainly called for. Also, it gave them a chance to send up “Deus Ex Machina” cavalry to the rescue type scenes. And finally as noted by one of the other commenters, it does allow Brian to get back down to the bottom of the tower without being captured. An excellent choice of movie!

It is also hilarious looking at the reactions from the religious groups back when this movie came out. They thought it was making fun of Jesus but when you look at the Sermon on the Mount the lines are fine but they simply make fun of the fact that people far away couldn't really hear. Then the ex-leper again, in this movie Jesus is seen performing a miracle even if the recipient didn't see it that way. Well, maybe the message the religious people hated the most in the movie was that we're all individuals and don't need to follow anybody. They certainly have an issue with that one.

It worked out for me that you didn't do "Predator" because I never watch reactions for that movie.....but watch EVERY "Life Of Brian" reaction! I hope your cheeks stopped hurting from laughing! This has to be one of my favorite Life Of Brian reaction videos because you already knew Python! I believe you are the ONLY reactor who has actually seen a little bit of the TV series before they watched one of the movies! You basically knew what you were in for, and that makes all the difference. 3.) MOST IMPORTANTLYY: I've seen this movie a million times, I never ever caught the line: "As empires go, this is the big one!" THANK YOU! That's why I love reaction videos! You singled that line out, and now I'll never forget it! :D 4.) Only one reactor has ever done the TV series (Dawn Marie) and it really built up her channel. Since each episode is only a half hour, there aren't that many of them, and it looks like you could use a steady of infusion of comedy, I thought I'd throw that out there. The series has so many classic bits and sketches and they are MUCH better watched in context of an episode rather than just clips from them. THANKS!!!!!

Wonderful reaction! You've got a great sense of humor and you could see your face just relax. You needed this😊 more British humor, you might want to start with either Peter Kay or Al Murray. You have the intelligence for either one

@@ambybambiboo sadly she left it seems if a parent knows the food is good, where they are, they'll leave the territory to the kittens. So now I have two female squirrels, that demand food at either side of the window so they don't have to fight. ;P

I saw this movie in the theater when I was in my teens. And have always thought it was one of the funniest movies ever made. I wish there was a comedy group to match Monty python but there isn't. Some have come close Mel Brooks, or Leslie Nealson but not the same

Glad you enjoyed this film and that you had prior experience of Monty Python. If you haven't seen them yet I highly recommend... Red Dwarf, Blackadder (The first series is a bit strange, but after that it gets better and better.), Men Behaving Badly, Only Fools and Horses and Bottom (The live stage shows are brilliant.). All that's left for me to say is ...."I'm Brian, and so's my wife!".

Judith's (Sue Jones-Davies) home town effectively banned this movie, because of her nude scene. Eventually, she became a town councillor, & arranged for its first ever screening in Aberystwyth, 30 years after its release.

Thats awesome. Idk why people are scared of a little nudity.

First time watching one of your reactions and I really love this movie, so it's always nice watching someone else really enjoying it too, I also like a lot of the other movies you're reacting to so I've hit the sub button, have you ever watched the Cornetto Trilogy?

Yes. If and when you get time, definiytely watch the Cornetto Trilogy. Look after yourself.

This wouldn't be for a reaction channel (or at least not one that does movies), but since you're a fan of British humor, I highly recommend the show "Taskmaster". It's a competition show like no other, with five comedians and/or TV presenters doing odd and often ludicrous tasks to please the Taskmaster (comedian Greg Davies), trying to earn enough points to at the end of the season win a gold-painted hollow bust of Greg's head. For your channel, though, if you haven't seen it, Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam's movie "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" is amazing.

The funny thing is that Jebus was a much more common and Chavy name in Jebus's time than Brian has ever been.
@grabtharshammer10 ай бұрын
Oddly, he wasn't much of a chav though. Son of a Carpenter, a valued trade at that time. More Middle Class, and we know he also went to "school" (when he argued with the teachers when he was 12)
@darthwiizius10 ай бұрын
@@grabtharshammer Very true, tradesmen in the ancient World were valued as second behind the rulers. In Egypt, for example, stone masons were the highest echelon of workers in the entire empire and lived the most comfortable and protected lives (and the reference basis of the modern Freemasons). You can train a soldier in weeks and months but in those days with the tools at hand it took generations of experience to be capable of carrying out precise work, grandfather to father to son. In medieval England the prize asset of the monarch was an arrowhead factory (quite possibly the first industrial facility in the World), by focussing labour into a speciality (or creating a trade or sub-trade if you like) instead of going to common smiths an arrowhead maker could output 3 times the arrowheads and at a higher quality, it gave English Kings a huge military advantage.
