I like to imagine that when the first aliens weren't able to clean up their mess quick enough, the second one that started glassing Earth was like their boss and just wanted a clean slate. You use dissonance perfectly to make the music sound as disturbing and chaotic as the videos themselves, without making it too noisy and keeping it a clean & listenable composition.
