I saw the band Priest at Dark Force Fest last month and they put on an awesome show! This Industrial Cybersynth jam was sort of inspired by them.
This track has a big fat bassline from the Moog Minitaur, which is still my favorite bassline synth out of the gear that I have.
The pluck/chime is from the Behringer Pro VS Mini. For fun I ran it through an old Presonus TubePre that's been in my collection since 2005. It's adding a little saturation and maybe some warmth to the digital Pro VS Mini. Moving the little joystick changes the balance between the four waveforms in this patch. One of them is an octave up so that when it's emphasized the timbre is extra bright.
The pad is a unison sound that I designed for the Arturia Microfreak. This isn't my first time using this patch for a jam. When I need a big single note swarming sting/pad, this is a great patch to reach for.
As usual, everything is sequenced and mixed in my DAW. I'm using some free effects to bring the synths to life. My usual trio is at work here: Baby Audio Magic Switch for chorus and Baby Comeback for Delay. Native Instruments Raum for reverb. It's silly that these are all available for free, but I own nearly every product from both companies so I don't feel too bad about it. :-)
Thanks for reading this far! Subscribe if you're new. I do one to two synth jams per month, and my goal on this channel is to demonstrate how affordable hardware synthesizers work in a track. I don't do in-depth reviews or raw sound demos, because there are other channels that cover that stuff so much better than I ever could!
