Avionics were upgraded from a Garmin G500 with JPI EDM 930 Engine Computer to a Garmin G500 TXi with integrated Engine Instrument System. This is a video overview of the Garmin G500 TXi with EIS on a flight to Cape May, NJ.

Try putting an ND filter on the Gopro. That will step down the exposure (different from frame rate). That also helps to eliminate the "slow prop" issues when filming with a go pro.

Nice video! Beautiful flying machine. Are these compatible with Avidyne's IFD550?

Rmag. Hi there. Is there anyway that I can chat with you off line??? I'm a Mooney M20K owner with an avionics issue and I was wondering if I could get some assistance from a Garmin PRO.

I think it has to do with the frame rate. I believe if you record in 4k, when you zoom in for the close ups it should show much better.
@RMAG6 жыл бұрын
I tried all the different frame rates 30, 60, 120 fps, it did not make a difference. The GoPro can record 4K wide aspect only. It can do 2.7K linear which is what I used and zoomed in. I tried 4K zoomed in and it did not look any better than the 2.7K footage. The screens fading in and out does go away when I put the GoPro close to the screen like I did when I showed the standard rate turn indicators. Not sure why this is.

Beautiful! 50 rop is pretty much the worst setting you could set.

Why have the mini attitude indicator when the bigger screen does it for you.
@RMAG2 жыл бұрын
Backup in case the big screen fails. It’s a requirement for IFR flight.
@tpsu1292 жыл бұрын
@@RMAG so, I’m assuming separate power and backup power. Is it multi-functional or solely a backup attitude indicator?
@RMAG2 жыл бұрын
@@tpsu129 it has an internal battery so it stays on in a complete electrical failure. It shows attitude, altitude, airspeed, roll rate, slip, vertical speed, and heading.

Hi. I own a Cessna 310R and looking to upgrade to glass cockpit and install new auto pilots and radio too. I was looking something very similiar to this. Would appreciate your recommendations and was wondering what was the cost for your upgrade. Thinking to do pretty much like you. Thanks! Great video btw!

Niceeee! What size screen is that? Sorry if I missed it. I am trying to decide wether 2 G5's are the way to go or the G500. I'm leaning towards the 500 but it is about 11k more than the G5's (with some additional equipment added in) but for the smaller 7" screen. Thoughts?
@RMAG6 жыл бұрын
It’s a 10.6 inch screen. The cheapest way to go with a G500 TXi is 7 inch screen backed up by a G5. Garmin just announced that the G5 is or is going to be certified as a back up. With just one 7 inch screen you will not have a MFD.

@@RMAG The million $$ question how much for avionics? Great panel......
@tracemitchell73585 жыл бұрын
I’m so confused garmin lists the 10.5 EIS TXI for less than $5000, what do you get if you buy just that screen, does it have all of the GPS, PFD, CDI, and EIS built in or do you have to add a 430 or 530 gps nav/com? Or do you have to buy one of the 7 inch displays For $12,000?
@RMAG5 жыл бұрын
For $5k your only looking at the EIS box that feeds the G500 TXi screen. A 10.5” screen itself is $10k or so, but you still have to buy all the LRUs that are the actual boxes and sensors that feed the data to the screen. So yes you need a GPS source, AHARS, etc.
@tracemitchell73585 жыл бұрын
I guess this shows the benefit of experimental aircraft, being able to buy the same avionics for less than half the cost of the certified would be nice

I don’t know. I think it has to do with the frequency of the display. I know if you video a TV screen you get artifacts.
@rainerzufall6894 жыл бұрын
@@RMAG I am pretty sure this information is outdated for you but maybe not for everyone: To get rid of any flickering or unintentional stroboscope effects or such things, just decrease the shutter speed of your camera so every frame gets more time/light. It can be done be chosing a higher ISO-value for the sensitivity of the sensor or generally reduce the light going into the camera, either by less lights, closed curtains or an ND-filter, which come in different levels of grey.

Found out that a Neutral Density Filter removes the screen fading in and out thanks to a Mooney forum post. Same filter that I use to remove prop flicker. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7l4n9Zl1rXYeWw.html
