Great video! This is my favorite Mora, by far. I love its ability to food prep, baton, and carve up a storm. The tang is almost twice the depth of the other common models, and is one of their longer tangs as well, at about 3/4.

I love mine also! The blade profile is awesome! Like you said, very much like the Light My Fire knife, just more stout. That thin front profile is great for fine carving. The sheath is great, and the handle is fantastic! Definitely a winner from Morakniv!

I'm not a big fan of mora handles or sheaths. So i bought a 2000 blade blank and some canvas micarta. I plan on sharpening the spine, dulling the finish and making a scout carry sheath. I love this blade grind.

Another one great video Dave! I love this knife's handle, I mean it !! It has the best handle I've ever held! So so comfortable and grippy, yes best rubber handle ever! And despite what many people say I like its looks and the sheath is solid and as you said really scandinavian style which is a bonus to me. Impressive size blade for a Mora. 3/4 inside the tang solid and well built. The only thing I did not like is the tip, I would like it more pointed and spear like, more thrusting type maybe. I got it only for 16 euros that is around 17 dollars I think which nothing can beat this! It's also a good mirror lol Happy New Year and be always great!!

+Achilles Daniel Adam Thank you for the very kind words! The handle is outstanding and your description of the knife is excellent! Yes the blade size and performance is impressive and the 3/4 tang enables some heavier work to be done with no problem! I don't mind the tip at all, as it worked well in splitting the wood. Great price, as well! Thank you for watching, my friend! Happy New Year to you, too! -Dave

Okay Dave you turned me into a Mora junky...I now own the Garberg, Companion, 511, Pro C robust and now this puppy. The 2000 really has a great feel to it, also the sheath rides really nice plus I like the color style and grip. I'm really wanting to get the Companion HD I'm gravitating towards the handle style cause I have nerve pain in my hands and it looks the most comfortable, and honestly the HD companion seems like it has the best blade geometry to me. Anyways thanks for getting me addicted to Mora LOL I love them and they dont cost a fortune to collect.

Even though I'm right handed, it's cool that this one works for lefties as well. At present I only own one Mora, the LMF one that you showed here and I love that knife and the blade profile. And I can see your point about the grip....even though I also love the grip on my LMF. Morakniv ROCKS!!!!
@HighCarbonSteelLove
@HighCarbonSteelLove 8 жыл бұрын
+Charles Larson I thought it was cool for southpaws, as well! The LMF is an outstanding knife! I have a lot of fun with that one. Not only does it have excellent stainless steel and blade profile, but the fact that it includes a Swedish LMF fire steel is outstanding. Great brand of ferro rods. I, too, like the grip on the LMF, as well, and that tapered end works great for food prep, as I showed on my LMF Morakniv Monday a few months back. -Dave

+Melusine Centun (Melusine101) Hi Irene! So nice to hear from you, my friend! It is NOT an attractive knife, at all! It has a slight classic puukko knife look to it but it's not nearly as pretty as those Kellam or Helle knives. However, it is a very effective knife. I think it becomes more attractive once you spend time with it and get to know it...lol! If you don't mind stainless steel, I think you would actually like this knife, a lot. Yes, the Black and the Force handles can be quite irritating at times. Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! Happy New Year! -Dave

I have the discontinued Outdoor 2010 which is the same blade but with a 900 series handle like the Bush Black. Very similar or could be the same as the Bush Forest. That slim section at the point can get scary sharp with good Japanese stones and some stropping. Cool vid, thanks!

+mistermatsuda Your discontinued 2010 sounds excellent, my friend! I have never seen that one. I have also gotten that slim tip razor sharp with a strop, as well. I bought my Mora 2000 (then made by K J Eriksson) in the late 90's for 67 Finnish Mark, which would equal around 6$ back then. Prices have changed a bit since - Mora knives used to be VERY cheap and in general considered tools for carpenters and outdoorsmen.

i would call this a bigger brother to the 510. how do you find sharpening it goes...like the other stainless from Mora? I am mentioning this since you said that working on the sine was harder. Also I am interested in the edge angle. The same for the entire blade? of does it change when the grind does?
@HighCarbonSteelLove
@HighCarbonSteelLove 8 жыл бұрын
+SpartanJohns I have only stropped this knife to bring the edge back with no problem at all. It sharpens just as well as the other Mora stainless knives I own. I find that Mora stainless reacts very well to stropping. I think the spine gave me problems because it was much more "rounded off" than other Mora spines. As far as the edge angle, its a scandi and the grind narrows as it approaches the tip. Are you familiar with the Mora Light My Fire knife? It has the same taper near the tip. It works well for food prep and I don't mind it. I think you would like this knife a lot my friend! -Dave

Say Heah Dave. Yup I brought my Mora 2000/Mora Hatchet and my Bacho up for some up coming trips now that the weather is getting milder. But as I was sharping my Classic #1 on my Bokor Vox Told Piggyback, I started putting a 90° on the edge instead of the spine grrrrrrr. It took me a while to restore the edge back to scary sharp. But yeah, I really like my Mora 2000, I teamed my 2000 with my Mora Hatchet and my Bacho Laolander which I carry the hatchet and saw in my makeshikft Haversack. It's a Far Nine Shoulder Flapover, It's Camo and Masculine looking so nobody ever saud it looks like a ladies purse. I bought a few if them at a closeout, thinking fir $2.99 they wouldn't last so I bought 4-4 of them. But two years or more later, I'm still using the first ine and it's still holding up strong. Yeah, It's one of my Fav. Lite Trio Carry. I use to back-up my Mora 2000 with my Bokor Black Vox Rold, But I stopped doing that because of how it's worked, I totally trust it now. Although I do add my new British Army Issue ClsspvPocket Knife with it for a Afternoon Delight, The Marlin Spike helps to untangle paracord and the can opener helps with munchies when I have dogs and beans. But yeah, It's a Fav. Trio Carry, Infact at first I didn't like the way the Mora 2000 looked, But now it's one of my Fav. Mora. I even like that Sandvic 12c27 it's made of and that dual grind rocks. That Leather Belt Loop can be bottoned on your shirt so you don't have to have a neck lanyard. Good job Dave, Keep up the good work.,,.

@paulie4x1 7 жыл бұрын
Definitely Dave, I really like it too, It compliments my Bokor Black Vox Rold and adds very little weight to the piggyback I put together. By now I think you know I like matching my combos. Remember me telling you I bought some Fox Knives for my wet and snowy condition use. Well originally I bought the 3V Master Hunter to team up with my Fox Bushcraft Parang just in case. Well I did so good with just my Vic. Rangergrip 78 SAK because the way its made, I used it for almost everything hardly using the Vic. So this weekend, I'm taking the Fox Bushcraft Parang, But this time I'm teaming it up with my Mora 2000. I wish you could see how well it matches even in color sort of, and that's why I'm taking the two instead of my Vic. Rangergrip, Oh, I could still bring the Vic. along. But I'm bringing my British Issue Army Clasp Knife because its new and very tight which is good, But with a little more use it will be perfect. It's a awesome pocket knife. It has a very sharp Warrencliff Blade, a Can Opener that works great opening can of beans, and ofcource the Marlin Spike to untangle paracord, For me it would be a perfect tool if only it had a Awl. I don't need a little Saw like on my SAK Farmer because I bring along my Lenox Folding Jab Saw for my fine task Sawing. You should do a video on a Folding Jab Saw, Its a great Bush Craft Tool. Anyhow, Yeah, Its always nice. Laters.,,.

One knife I regret giving away is the Mora 2000.I love the handle and for me , I think the best handle Mora made. The Mora 2000 handle and the Mora Pro blade at 4 inches would make one of the best knives out there.This video really makes me regret giving the 2000 away.....

+coyote238 I am sure the recipient of the 2000 was very grateful! The handle is great! Yes, this handle on a smaller, 1095 HCS blade would be outstanding! Did you ever consider buying a new 2000? They aren't too expensive and the way Mora is discontinuing good blades (Bushcraft Triflex, Bushcraft Force), you never know when they will be gone. Do you think it is hard to sharpen the knife due to the pretty rare edge? I find it pretty hard to get a very sharp edge when sharpen it. By the way. I just love my Mora knifes.

+Andrew Simpson Hi Andrew, you can't go wrong with carbon steel, IMHO! Although, I think stainless does have it's place and the Moras that I have featured that are stainless are outstanding! They are great woods knife for those who don't care to take time to look after their knife in the field. Interestingly enough, this one reacts really well to a leather strop, as well! Great to hear from you, my friend! -Dave

Good review. How cold was it out there? The wood sounded and cut like it was below or close to freezing. I have to honestly say the Mora 2000 was the only Mora I never kept. The top of the handle seemed to dig into my hand a bit. Although this video makes me want to grab another and give it another run. Keep it up.

+Jonathan Zook It was about 30 degrees, my friend. That is interesting that you had that type of handle trouble. That's too bad, as its a very versatile knife. I've never handled the Kansbol so I don't have 1st hand experience, but whenever I've seen it, I have thought the exact same thing about the blade. It's and excellent, versatile blade style. Mora Light My Fire also has a similar blade (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rOB8qpekndybhmw.html). Interestingly enough, I would never purchase the Kansbol because I love the 2000's handle and sheath! +sharon crowe Hi sharon! This knife would work great in the kitchen! The tapered tip is perfect for food prep. I did a Morakniv Monday on the Mora Light My Fire Knife a few months ago (it has the same tapered blade) where I did some food prep and this blade profile performed excellent! As far as the Mora knife that lives in my kitchen for food prep, its the Mora Craftline TopQ Stainless Flex Trade Knife - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oK18aLKau7jcqIk.html&lc=z12ohtbisqfaz5psv22jvlja2ybaxz5w304 - this knife shines at food prep and is very easy to sharpen. How hard is it to re-sharpen that steel?
@HighCarbonSteelLove
@HighCarbonSteelLove 8 жыл бұрын
+TraditionalBlackPowder Thats a great question. Due to it's outstanding edge retention, I have yet to take a diamond stone to it. All I have done is strop this knife and the edge is brought back in no time. Judging by the honing I have done, I don't feel as if this steel is hard to sharpen, at all. Now if it were one of those weird "super steels", it might be a much different story. Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, my friend! -Dave

Those sudden stops, Cross cutting without loosing any speed, You know the simple things we do on Hockey Skates. That's why when I found out that they used that Sandvik 12c27 Stainless, I had no problem buying a Stainless Steel Mora, I also was impressed how good it sharpened and held on my Skates.
