@@LewisChristisonVids Sadly, that's not always true. It seems to vary from one store to the next. My local Dollar Tree location hardly has any Final Faction in stock. Meanwhile, there's another store halfway across town that's restocked on a regular basis. It seems to depend on whether the local manager is paying attention to their job or not.

It's not just that they're pretty good action figures, it's that they actually bothered to have someone come up with individual biographies for each of them for the back of the card instead of just relying on the one generic series blurb ("In the year 2050...") for all of them. Even without things like comic books or cartoons, that little bit of context makes playing with them sooooo much better - at least it did for me with G.I. Joe when I was a kid back in the early 80s.

I think the lesson, instead, here, is that there's no reason for modern toys to be so expensive and that other toy companies are WAY overcharging for what they produce, as these guys are obviously making a profit selling them "cheaply" or they wouldn't have made Wave 2. That last vehicle alone, if Hasbro made it, would be $30 or $40 - and it probably wouldn't be as cool. The other issue is IP's - this is an ORIGINAL line, so they don't have to pay for any licenses.

You know, if I didn't have WAY too many projects, like my continued procrastination in finishing my 40k miniatures, or 3D printing stuff for Star Wars figures, I would genuinely pick up every single one of these guys and give them some customizing love. A new coat of paint, maybe implant some 3D printed joints, etc. These are really nice figures for a dollar, and the fact that you can pick up almost thirty of these for what Hasbro charges for a single figure make Hasbro look like complete clowns, so that's fun.

I still can't wrap my head around how these things can exist, because that one dollar isn't just paying for the lump of plastic, but also for the design of the figures, the R&D of the different features, the tolerance for the joints, the level of detail on basically every figure, the quality assurance, the backstory for each character, the design of the packages, the cartoon, and everything else that involves building and shipping a toy to be sold in a brick-and-mortar store. It's unbelievable. The fact that the loose ball joint on that alien turret was one of the only defects in all of these figures speaks to the level of quality that these things are being made for. Not only that, but the designs are incredible. That FDO mech and all of the alien stuff are so unbelievably good looking and creative. I can't believe that Dollar Tree are making a profit on all of these figures. It must be the kind of thing where they're selling the badass alien at a loss and the add-on packs for a net gain. So cool. Never have I wanted to be a kid again than right now.

A few fun little details that weren't in the video - "Flea" can peg onto the Krepitus figure's left shoulder. It doesn't stay on very well, and you can't bend the arm past a certain point without popping it off entirely, but there's something really delightful about this alien bounty hunter having his hideous little insectoid companion perched on his shoulder like an old-timey pirate. And speaking of seamen (ahem), I think the "water-activated sensors" in Riptide's bio are referring to the little green bits on his arms and chest plate, which according to the card back change color in warm water! I don't mind telling you I was blown away when I read about that feature, I'd never have imagined a temperature-sensitive feature on a toy this inexpensive. That said, I haven't tried it with my figure yet, so I've no idea if it actually works as advertised. Even so, points for effort, guys!

@@MegaVikingen Marvel do occasionally release multipacks of figures at the 3.75 scale with Marvel Legends branding. Or did during the last few years, at least. For Guardians of the Galaxy 2, they did a Star Lord and Yondu set. For Thor Ragnarok, they did a Thor and Hulk set (which must have sold well because I never saw it in a shop), and a comics-based Enchantress and Executioner set (which I saw millions of - for all I know, every branch of The Entertainer still has dozens in the discount bin). They had a Gamerverse line as well at the same scale, which included figures from the Marvel vs Capcom games and the Spider-Man PS4 game. When I was young I loved figures with sidekicks or accessories, I enjoyed those bits as much or more than the figures usually. It gives me hope in humanity to see Dollar Tree putting real effort into these toys and providing them for a great cost. Inflation is straining the globe and things like toys are a luxury, but to offer these for a dollar can let so many kids have a toy that feels thought out and good, even if it is cheap. Even the backing says cut here at the top so you can keep the record for all the figures you have, might be silly to most but some kids might enjoy that so why not provide it. Really cool.

The transformers kingdom toyline has a megatron out right now that's 40 dollars... I get that the transformers brand is much more popular and the toy itself would be of higher quality but as a kid if I had to choose between trex megatron or basically the entire line of Final Faction action figures it'd be a hard choice. That robo dog, the vehicles and especially those various bug aliens are top tier in design and sculpt. If this is what they can do with a 1.25 + tax price point I'd love to see what they could do with a 10 or even 20 dollar price point.
