She then kills him. Episode 5: Kings Landing preparing for battle as Iron Fleet with Dany and Jon etc with Dragons turn up. Huge-ass battle where enemies have to work together.. lasts into: Episode 6: where we eventually get Dany, Cersei, Jon and Night King close together; Hound fighting Mountain, The rest taking on WWs, and Bran has all this time warged into... oooo, don't want to spoil it, so will leave it there.

True... I am not defending this shitty episode, the show has ended for me in season 4, this is just fan fiction at this point. But the drop of blood was in a closed silent room and the sound echos inside, while the whites were outside during a magical blizzard(probably used to save money) and there were many wights and the ongoing battle outside, so its not completely unrealistic for her to teleport behind the night king.

Y'all are just whingers tbh... The reason why the producers made the point of highlighting the sound of the blood droplets is to show that Arya's footsteps are quieter than the droplets. ...and that is why she was able to sneak up on the night king without anyone noticing.

I honestly think you can trace a lot of it back to Sansa's plot line. They have pushed her character so far out of whack that she alters the plot line of every character with which she comes in contact. Couple that with the fact that no one in that writing room is smart enough to write quality scenes for Tyrion, this show was doomed as soon as they ran out of source material.

Rumours has it that they just wanted to move on to other projects like Star Wars and hence just want to get this show over with, no matter how lazy and garbage the writting they had to make to accelerate the pace of the show. It's a shame really, D&D has forgotten that the majority of their fame and awards are from Game of Thrones and they ruined it just to move on to their other projects.

That could be!! 1) UNITE EVERYONE IN WESTEROS including Cersei and forcing them to change!! And with that create a happy ending. 2) Turning the entire Westeros in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and forcing everyone on Westeros to flee. 3) Activate some sort of legendary armor and sword for Jon Snow that would give him some superhuman powers in order to defeat him. etc. etc.

Okay, I can't believe I'm defending this moment, but with everything else I've pieced together, I'll help you kind of make sense of this. While the Night King is standing in front of Bran, Bran looks him right in the eyes and then straight down directly at his chest and then back up at his eyes and that's when the Night King does his little head tilt like "what are you up to?" The only reason I can think of why he does this at this moment is to show Arya where she needs to stab the Night King. So, not only does she appear out of thin yelling to get him to turn, but just a second earlier she was also close enough to see Bran's eye line. The majority of this episode is looks over logic, this specific part was surprise! over logic. Being a book reader, I don't have a problem with Arya doing it. I have a problem with how they said they didn't know until after they had completely wrapped up her Faceless Men training and I think they extra screwed themselves. What I take issue with the most with this episode is how it's not logical and it's all for looks or surprises.

Arya was already in a tree or something hiding before the NK reached Bran.

You can see white walkers hair move as she silently runs past them and they have been setting up her silence this whole episode and season really. She improvised last moment because shes a bad ass. Simple as that. It was hectic, Jon couldnt kill him because the night king is too smart to fight the one guy he has been watching for years he knows might be able to kill him and has killed his officer in the past, and he slept on arya like most people did. Havent seen one argument I deem valid for the episode being bad yet. Some bad decisions in the battle made because of past experience with the dead. At hardhome the force of the dead was NOTHING like it was here and they fought it with less people so they had faith in the dothraki to break the line (ended up a bad idea but it could make sense based on prior battles)

That isnt as badass though they REALLY want us to know women can be badass too

I never really found the white walker plot line very interesting tbh.. I was much more interested in the human characters and conflicts ect.. the white walkers always just felt like generic zombies to me. in my first binge of got id actually skip the wall scenes and Jon snow stuff as I found it the most dull.

He could have had his dragon burn a whole lot more of winterfell. They could've given him the best villain origin and motivation but killed it all. Arya was supposed to kill cercei, that should be her moment, and aegon, daeny or fucking bran should've killed frozone since they had some built up together

The first three books made for great television but I think that Dance and Feast simply aren't designed to translate to TV. Honestly they were often tiresome even in book form. A faithful adaption of WOW would have been even worse, the book is too ambitious and is proving to be unwritable.

To be honest, they had already demonstrated their complete incompetence years ago. Remember the Dorne plot (may it rest in peace)? The Dothraki in seasons five and six? The entire seventh season?

George RR Martin already had the idea of how it ends in since long ago and supposedly told the writers of the show. HOWEVER, the show has gone so far away from the book there's no way they could remotely have the same ending. Not in the slightly. And from what I've been learning about the writers and hearing about how little George RR Martin has been involved these past seasons, they (show writers) made a whole new ending, one that they wanted to see.

Watch the books end very similar to the show. GRRM may have built the Walkers up just to do the same thing as the show. There is a point to ending the walkers like this but everybody is mad because their theory's are wrong or don't get the answers they think they deserve.

Maybe this will inspire him to finish the damn books. He can’t let this be his legacy

In fairness she can already do that, she's a faceless person. She killed the entire Frey bloodline off-camera without blinking - she could annihilate anyone in King's Landing. GRRM has said books' ending will be similar to the show's, so why risk make it that similar? And GRRM HATES changing stories just because someone guessed something

They were equipped with Dragon glass daggers like everyone else so no they weren't defenseless. If Sam can have daggers than surely everyone will be carrying at least two.

They wouldn't have been able to all fit inside Winterfell with the horses, they need room to run. But they could have at least stayed hidden and come in for some sort of flank when the WWs started to break through the fire barricade and attempt to surround them with fire on all sides, then the dragons coming in from above. Instead they all just typed ~kill in console

I actually got my hopes up for just a second when Arya attacked the Night King and he just grabs her by the throat. I thought: "Wow, she tried the easy way to kill him, good thing that it won´t work and he might just kill her now.......oh my god, what just happened?" Then I facepalmed. Such a cheap and lazy way to end this guy. Arya had like zero connection to him, didn´t she just ask Gendry an episode ago what the White Walkers are and how they act? You know who actually has a connection to the NIght KIng? Jon. For seven seasons he talked about how important it is that they all lay aside their petty differences and stand together against the whites. He also faced off against the Night King before. But what does he do now in this episode? Absolutely nothing of importance. A whole character arc just butchered and ruined.

they also treated them as heavy calvary... Which they NOT! Heavy calvary has armor. In fact they address this is season one, when a dothraki is talking to Jorah about how the armor makes them slow. They are light calvary they hit from the sides, attack, and when the enemy gets a footing they run to tire out the enemy and then attack again... And that is just the first of many mistakes. And before anyone starts with the sarcastic "another military strategist" I actually am. Am an Operations Officer in the Navy, and I have 3 masters from the Naval Academy and Naval Warfare Academy, and one is in Western European Warfare.

I was just about to tell the same thing. This alone indicates how much the narration was put aside to highlight the tv aesthetics only. The nice flaming swords photography costed the end of the most feared horde of the two continents. Years of dothraki narrative culminating in 2-minutes annihilation just to produce a thrilling visual effect.

Nice! I'm ex-Navy also. I know more about Naval aviation and naval warfare than feudal warfare, but I still know enough about feudal. I wrote this a day ago, explaining how I would command the battle. I could have elaborated on the ditch and a few other parts. Feel free to pick it apart. Dothraki would be split into two large groups, placed way off to the left and right of the flanks. They would stay out of sight, out of mind. The trebuchets would be much further back, as close to castle as possible, while having enough room to operate. I'd also have it rigged for quick demolition, in case it gets overrun. Don't want the undead trying to turn it around. Only the first 4 ranks or so of Unsullied would use dragonglass spears and shields, and be in really tight formation, possible using bigger shields. This is to stop the charge and have some melee range. The rest would have dragonglass swords and shields to assist the spearmen. The first 2 ranks of Unsullied with swords would be close behind the 2 ranks with spears. Every other regular soldier would fill the ranks behind. The ditch would be dug in the front of the Unsullied. At this distance, the archers from the castle should also be able to reach the enemy stuck on the other side of the ditch. The ditch would be deeper and wider. Every man, woman, and child would be forced out to dig the ditch days before the battle. Allow the wights to make contact with the Unsullied. As soon as that happens, ignite the ditch. This would allow the first wave of wights to get trapped on the side with the Unsullied, while burning the wights behind, and separating their deeper ranks. The dragons would continuously fly from left to right, burning rows of wights, while trebuchets and fire arrows rain on them. With this setup, the trebuchets should be allowed to constantly fire, since they're protected. The dragons would eventually have to break off to fight the undead dragon, which is fine. If the wights split up to try and surround the castle, or find an area with no fire, this would be good, because it would thin their files. Depending on what happens, once the wights are set up nicely, the Dothraki can then charge from the sides, mostly sticking to hit and runs. Oh, and if it's book Melissandre, I would have her standing somewhere near the front middle to constantly cast fire spells.

Yeah I really wanted them to show up in Dorne and be like "ha you think some desert is gonna stop us", or at least like King's Landing (just to see the look on Cersei's face)

Lol what’s great about helms deep is that the decisions the free races made were smart and sensical and the Uruk hai used whatever tactics were available to them to make their way through the defenses; in the end the side with the stronger tactics won, whereas here the side with the most luck and least terrible tactics won.
