The main problem with Monty Hall is that people do not think in terms of sequences. They only look at what they did at the beginning and then transfer this to the last round. Additionally it comes into their head "what if i chose the correct one?".

The infinite monkey theorem trips people up because a realistically a monkey cannot actually deliver perfectly random key inputs on a typewriter. For example, if every 10 key strokes is the spacebar it cannot even write one page of meaningful text. But if we assume that the monkey can actually deliver random key inputs then any text imaginable will be written an infinite number of times.

Those three players are basically all just Karl Pilkington but with way more confidence in their own intelligence, Karl could never grasp the concept of infinity either.

The monkey theorem should imply that it is possible, not inevitable. There is also a chance that nothing of value will ever be produced, just like there is a chance that you could flip a coin and get on heads for all eternity, although it is very unlikely. With probability, the monkey could write anything, or everything, but also could write nothing.

I don't think Thorin's flaming Sneaky for the right thing on the monkey theorem, It's not that Sneaky's focusing on the Shakespeare part, but on the monkey part, because a real monkey wouldn't smash buttons randomly, it would smash the same buttons, make patterns, but it wouldn't be random and thus wouldn't ever be able to create any long, sensible text. So I think the fault's more on the phrasing, since he didn't read a full paper on this, all the info he has is a sentence from DL which doesn't specify that the monkey is a metaphor for random input.
