Kuriakos owns one of my dream cars, and it's a real looker. His 1997 Supra started as an NA car, that was swapped to a turbo engine, and eventually became 6-speed swapped, and now has a big 'ole diff in the back. The paint is the same color Lexus offered on the V10 LFA supercar, and the turbo is the size of my head.
But just a few years ago, this car was in a very different place. Thanks to unfortunate circumstances and 20/20 hindsight, Kuri almost lost his dream car. This video is about what he gained from that.

I like the fact that you and the owner are not just showing a beautiful Supra (hell, it's the prettiest one I've seen in ages!), But you are also showing what happened to it, regardless of what internet trolls may say. Loved the story. A car like this can never be sold. Beautiful.

can i just say i'm not usually a supra fan because it seems every A80 is over kill and seems thrown together just to make stupid power numbers. but this car, it's not overkill. it's had love put into it instead of money thrown at it. the fact he swapped the frame and welded a new one on shows he really cares about his creation. and it's beautiful.

not overkill? the car looks nice, but he swapped a 9" and fully built the motor, and his goal hp is achievable on a completely stock car with just a big single, injectors, and fuel management. lol

@@leefhead1 I think he said his was a non turbo block if I remember correctly there are some differences between the bottom end of a 2jzge and a 2jzgte so I'm not sure how much am na block can take

i didnt notice that it started out as a NA car in the comments. He never really stated that. Just said the built engine was a NA block with a VVTI head. Instead of building it and finding a soarer head, then building that, he could have just bought a soarer 2jzgte and been done with it. Regardless, he did whatever he wanted and built it for himself, but its certainly overbuilt.

My dad had a 1999 Toyota Camry and I loved that thing he took care of it like crazy and recently it started knocking and he had to junk it I sat there a week later in front of it ,looking at the car I grew up in and started bawling it was sick he had some clean 5 spoke red wheels and it could do 140 mph at it's age great car

One of the best, if not the best looking Supras I’ve seen on KZfaq bro hands down. Inside and out, top to bottom. No crazy spaceship looking body kit, color is perfect, engine and engine bay looks amazing, perfect amount of horsepower (could go up to about 650-700hp) but all in all in my opinion the best overall look one. #GreatBuildBro

Bro... Your story is VERY TOUCHING .... And your car is GORGEOUS ... !!! Back in 2004 i also was on the interstate and decided to hit it, not realizing that i also had bald tires in the back, the rear end lost control and went sideways ... I hit the guard rail 3 times and crushed the front and rear ... Car got totaled out by the insurance ... That night after it happened i was in TEARS over the steering wheel for about 5 minutes just after it happened and when i came to the realization that IT DID JUST HAPPEN and i was hoping to wake up from a bad dream ... I kept saying to myself... WHY... WHY ... WHY ... What did i do..?? But unlike your story, i didn't keep the chassis, i found another one that was stock... Tore it apart, painted it, pulled the motor out, rebuilt with forged internals and new turbo ... Its 2018 and i still have it. BTW my car is a 98 nissan 240sx, i have been offered $20k for my car and i keep telling everyone NO... its NOT for sale ... And i will NEVER sell it... Because i have put a lot of $$, blood and sweat into this car and the connection between me and this car is strong. Yes its only a nissan 240sx but its MY 240sx ... Even guys from back in the mid 90's that i used to hang out with are still shocked that i still have it .. even though they all moved on and sold their cars and live a normal "modified free" car life ... I still have mine .. I understand your history and connection to the car.. DO NOT SELL IT ... !!! My next car will be a 97 Supra 15th anniversary Limited Edition... This will be my 3rd turbo car :-) Good Story .. !!!

I love the Supra community, of all the cars I’ve had this community is by far my favorite and over the GT-R community. When I first got my Supra I honestly didn’t know what to expect because of all the controversy and nostalgia surrounding the community however I quickly realized it’s an amazing community to be apart of and most of the negativity and judgments come from people who do not own one, never owned one, and have no means of owning one. For me the Supra is a lifestyle and I’ve met a lot of my best friends just because we both own Supras doesn’t matter if it’s a A40, A60, A70, or A80.

Or like it's a forum where everyone gives value and different advice? I need help to spec, mod and tune out my supra. Then my teen dreams will finally be accomplished.

The only reason I wouldn't buy one is because I just don't like RWD as much as FWD or AWD cars so I never would personally buy one but I have always had this feeling that the Supra guys would be some of the most egotistical of them all because "oh my 1000hp Supra can beat everyone" n shit like that there since the 2JZ is hailed by everyone so highly.. If I was a Toyota guy, this probably would make me want one more since i do like the A70 and A80 chassis but if it wasn't RWD (and no cupholders either :/) then I think I'd be game with saving for one (despite how crazily high priced the A80 is, I probably won't get the chance to anyways)

Ive owned multiple cars from just about every chassis and will say theres love no matter car you have. And to like awd more that rwd is understandable to an extent from a grip standpoint at times but awd doesnt rule it all . Ive had friends with rwd cars with tires and gripping the road better than i have in my awd audis, saab, etc. So if you think awd is the end all be all its not. But if you want a clean quick awd toyota the st205 celica all tracs are amazing cars too

I love this video, I sold my 1994 Supra TT in November of 2016 and still think about it. I had to sell it, it was 100% original, with only 27,150 miles, with me being the original owner. I’m 77 years old, and was afraid the car would get a rock chip or had an accident. I only drove the Supra to cars and coffee. The car was purchased by a dealership out of state, it has not been registered yet.

Man that is passion for a car. Really great story and video. Incredibly clean supra, just nearly perfect. It's amazing how ahead of it's time the supra was in performance and style. These days if I see a supra like this I drool over it compared to most other cars I see on the road. I remember meeting a chill supra owner who had his husky dog in the back. The car was clean stock looking and sounded so damn nice when he merged to the freeway. That moment from 6:56 mins to 7:35 = pure happiness.

naw in a supra 700 hp is the magic number enough power to have fun and flaunt at tk2k but also enough to run low `10 sec to high 9's passes all day without trying lol

The supra used to be my favorite car till the LFA came out. Supra is my second now. This supra is almost exactly how I would build mine. Beautiful color, very clean with no ricey bodykit. Nice to see you kept a wing. Great story.

He got it in March 2013, and he's had it for 6 years. That's what I like, video's from the future...! Isn't it mad how the back ends juts spin out on people when they weren't doing "anything"...! I hope he learnt his lesson, because that Supra looks killer now and I would hate to see the same thing happen again.

Nice PR/advertisement. Though really the reality with a lot of builds is the owner doesn't do most of it themselves. They have 'friends' whom own shops and give massive discounts or do half the things for free. The average guy whom goes out and buys a sports car, that knows little about mechanics, doesn't have specialist tools or knows someone whom will share the same interest in building the car, will never reach these levels of customization unless that flat out pay for it at ridiculous prices. In short, if you think you can just go buy a Supra and throw a few bucks at it to make it into this, think again.

From one Supra owner to another, thank you for keeping her alive! Those of us who are lucky enough to own a Supra quickly realize that these cars are not just cars but actually became a part of us. I have owned other cars but there is nothing like a Supra. Unless you get to own one, you will never quite get the idea that these cars have a soul and you easily form a bond with your car. Great job on keeping the build simple and clean. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing a stock body Supra that is well taken care of. Shout out to all my fellow Supra owners!

I still can't get over how cool it is that this channel exists. I visited Night Run Garage a few times with a friend when I was still going to school in Richmond, and they are definitely a cool and VERY knowledgeable group of friends & mechanics. I'm glad to see they're getting top quality exposure from G&G :)
