I’d definitely classify that as an errant Adam comment, but to his credit he does say he hasn’t noticed him over the last 15 games, and Kampf has only been out the past 3 or so games

I'm from Ust-Kamenogorsk. As well as Eugene Nabokov, Nikolay Antropov, Anton Khudobin, Konstantin Pushkarev (got drafted by the Kings, but it never worked out) and a whole bunch of guys who at some point played or are playing in the KHL. After the break-up of the Soviet Union, Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk ended up being the only real hockey team in the newly independent Republic of Kazakhstan, so this city has always been a home for many hockey players.

I think 2 things are true: 1. Steve and Co. are absolutely right about the reaction not falling out of the sky, and that a reaction isn’t unwarranted. However the reaction can’t be a headshot 2. Ridley Greig sees Reilly coming from his peripheral and within less than a second of actually looking at him he is getting a stick to the face, so yes, it’s reasonable to say he didn’t see it coming quite literally in the physical sense.

Hey guys! Just wanted to make a minor correction. Corey Perry couldn’t be offered that bonus by Edmonton cause he was never a free agent. Chicago traded a 7th for his expiring rights and signed him before July 1.

The only way that Perry could have signed the same contract was if he was a free agent AND he signed a one-year contract (see #2 below). The contract for Brown utilized #3 below. What is a Performance Bonus? A Performance Bonus can be given to a player in addition to their salary. Performance bonuses are only paid to the player if they meet the requirements as defined by the bonus. Performance bonuses count against the salary cap; however, a team can exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses by the maximum performance bonus cushion amount of 7.5 percent of the upper limit. Not all players are eligible for Performance Bonuses, and to receive a bonus within their contract, a player must meet one of the following criteria: 1) The player is on an entry-level contract. 2) The player has signed a one-year contract and is over 35 years old. 3) The player has signed a one-year contract after returning from a long-term injury (has played 400 or more games, and spent 100 or more days on the Injured Reserve in the last year of their most recent contract).

I was listening and heard y'all mention Morgan Reilly. I heard only that he got suspended for a hit, I didn't see it. But when I heard Steve say, some compared it to the Dale Hunter hit on Turgeon in the 1993 playoffs (Which I witnessed as a young islander fan). I had to immediately see it for myself. To be 100% honest, the Reilly cross check to his face looked worse than the Hunter hit on Turgeon. I'm sitting here listening as I write this and Steve making it "Not that bad" is making me laugh. But at the same time, kinda disappointed.. I promise if that exact action was committed against a Lead, he'd be singing a whole different tune. Steve study the video and show both sides by side and explain to everyone who disagrees, how that cross check to the face "Isn't that bad". I'd argue Reilly's intent to do significant harm, was greater than Hunters.

Connor Brown was able to sign that contract with that kind of bonus because he missed basically the entire previous season. Brown has been really great on the penalty kill and has had a ton of really great chances to score that it's nuts he hasn't gotten at least one.

In regards to Greig and specifically with Boone Jenner, Greig owned the Jackets last night too. He was physical, battled in front of the net and got the blue jackets more and more agitated. Goon Jenner spent the better part of the back half of the game yelling. He got a knee on knee collision and still played like a warrior the rest of the game.

The Brown contract was only possible due to how little games he played last year I believe. So the reason the Oilers gave him that contract was so he'd fit under the cap this season in a way no other player could

It's about balance and body position, strength is part of it but just like everything else, there's always someone stronger or faster or smarter. Fighting on ice is completely different than fighting on your feet.

To start I'm a Stars fan, I have no dog in this fight. But this play definitely means EVERYTHING to the integrity of the League. This is definitely the WORST thing I've ever seen in this league the past couple years. I don't remember when Tom Wilson used Artemi Panarin's head as a punching bag when Artemi was defenseless on the ground. (According to the DOPS that's his fault) That was only worth a fine so it's fine. BUT THANK GOD our Savior George Parros suspended Rielly 5 games for the "dirtiest play" this entire season for cross checking a guy. (Im positive if anything worse happens this season {jamie benn} it will DEFINITELY be worth more games)[love you Jamie] Forget every other dirty play this season, this was absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. Thank God we're keeping this game safe for all the players

The Dale Hunter comparison isn't as crazy as you make it out to be, the plays themselves are very similar, the major difference is the effectiveness in the delivery of the justice that was intended.

Riellys was no where near as violent as Dale hunter and Dale hunter is a mean player and Reilly isn't...the fact that you compare those two ..jus shows your jus saying it because it's the leafs. @@jordanmcmullen8454 My comment stands and I said it. Like I said Dale delivered the justice more effectively, the intent was the same. Their reputation doesn't have any real weight on the argument here as both players intended violence on a player that didn't deserve violence.

Blues fan reporting that the Blues in fact did not show up to that game. Just like they don't show up to about 35% of their games. This team all season has either been a playoff team or an AHL team with no in between. It's not ever "Oh, the first line was sluggish tonight, but the other guys picked it up and made it competitive". Nope, all or nothing. Either everyone shows up or no one does. I do think Jesse is on to something where I think this team probably does spend a lot of time together and if one guy is going out, they all are, and if one guy is tired, they all are

Oilers fan here to shed light on Connor Brown. In my opinion Brown has been a decent bottom 6 player, he has been great in the PK and as the season has gone on he’s gotten quicker and looked more comfortable. He has had pretty good chances the last month or 2 but it’s been obviously that not having a goal is on his mind. He has been just a hair slow on a few shots, or has had the goalie make an above average save more often than not. I’d like to see him up in the top 9 for a game or two mainly because he looks better now then he didn’t start the season and I’m curious to see if another chance with more ice time and more skill around him would help him get out of the slump. It’s a bummer he will be 3.5million against the cap next year but I think he can salvage this season with a goal and be a contributor. All that being said I think on ice okay wise Gagner should be ahead of Brown and Janmark (when Gagner’s hips are having a good day)

I agree, his takes lately are terrible idk why he’s even on the show he should stick to his solo pod and leave Steve and Adam run this one. The Tampa player had no room between the goalie and the Dman and tried to go through anyways. Also when he said the Ottawa player was blind sided and attacked from behind. Just because the sens player was skating away acting like everything was good, there was no doubt in his mind someone was coming. That’s why he looked over at the last minute to see what was going to hit him.

Steve hit the nail on the head in regards to the spezza suspension reduction, and its probably a portion of why reilly got five games. I think if a suspension is 6 games or longer, it's opened up to the possibility of a third-party appeal. If the suspension is 5 or less the suspension is handled by betman. Betman knew a third part arbitrator would reduce spezzas suspension, so he did it. With 5 games, any appeal will go to betman, and he will have more control.

Avs fan here. They're imposters right now. No goaltending and we can't constantly make up for Lehkonen, Landeskog and Nuchiskin being in & out of the line up. Signing Parise was an empty gesture. They needed a Kuzmenko/Lindholm. There's nights where I lose count of the lazy/weak/desperation passes. They can be world killers but it's a paper tiger or glass cannon currently. That team needs bolstering/reinforcement so badly.

Tyler Myers got blown up twice by Jimmy Slater once with Atlanta and another with Winnipeg. Slater wasn’t the biggest but was an absolute animal though.

If Buffalo think they're better than other teams, they need to show up in a lot more games. Every season is the season that Ottawa and/or Buffalo are due to move up the standings and every season it doesn't happen, but next season will be different, probably, maybe... Datsyuk/Chara Pav had the puck and Chara laid a good hit. A few seconds later Pav had the puck again, this time he intentionally drew Chara in and then put the big guy on his ass. Some smaller players just know how to lay a good hit.

I'm not a Leafs fan (actually kinda hate them lol) but I think both sides are right... 1st: Ridley can shoot however the hell he wants and yes, he's being a jerk but wtf? That's what makes hockey fun. And Rielly had all the right in the world to react and I applaud that he did. The only problem was HOW he did it. I would 100% support him dropping the gloves and kicking Ridley's ass. The crosschecking to the head is what's wrong. I think five games is ok because he went for the head. Otherwise, he shouldn't have gotten anything for reacting

None of them were on the ice, so what are they supposed to do? They were grabbed to be there if they are winning to stop stuff florida ( both teams) would do if they lost at the end. They didn't get those three for the end of the game, and toronto is trailing. Unfortunately, this was an incident that needed addressing when they were trailing. With tavares nylander matthews and marner out there, who else was going to do anything in that moment?

Not that far in the video yet, but blues game was 3rd in 4 nights, they had won 7 of previous 8, so by law of averages and horrible scheduling, it was bound to happen. Oh well. Good luck with the bruins or panthers.

Connor brown is great on the PK and the bottom 6 sucks in terms of production for the most part, not just him. That 10 game bonus was completely rediculous in hindsight. Could very well have worked out but that horrible oilers start just came at a horrible time for him.
